As far as mitigating RNG goes I've been valuing Objective HP more and more. There are a lot of situations where you can't fully handle what a map throws at you but you can manage by strategically leaking problematic enemies. Especially important for maps like Lancer Pinball. Of course it's better to do this in a controlled way but surprisingly often you can survive just by keeping your cool when you have a bank of lives. I just had a run where not-Frostnova fully wiped my team but I tanked 15 enemies for my operators to come back up.

I enjoyed the new mode so much I played a ton the first two days and got all the rewards. But I'm bad at it and didn't beat it a single time. And I don't have enough motivation to do it again since there's no more rewards, oh well. Was a really nice change of pace though. As mobile games go, Arknights has certainly kept my attention longer than any other. Glad it's still innovating.

TBH, I would pay for a more polished version of this roguelike.

Clarste posted:What I do is plant vanguards or fast deploys specialists to kill ~2 spiders each, starting from the right (with a guard/defender where I want one to eventually be). Usually they'll die after the second, but if they don't you undeploy them anyway. That's, uh, about it? It's not that complicated. Oh yeah, there's also a final spider that might need to be blocked so it doesn't explode in the middle of everyone during Big Bob. My biggest risk these days is a flier getting through since there aren't many ranged slots. The problem is, the other enemies don't wait for me to be done with the spiders, and will either get past my melee operator or make them die faster. And I don't always have fast redeploys on that stage. The only reason I survived at all last time was because of Nightmare's healing.

That's why you put your guard/defender down sooner rather than later.

Lappland is a big help for that stage, and she's good everywhere else too. If I get a guard she's usually my first pick.

Like a standalone version of the game where every run unlocks a bunch of operators and showers you in materials to decide where and how to power them up. Slap it on Steam and they could sell a ton of copies even at like a 30-40 dollar price point.

I wish you could unlock the starting squad perks in Easy. That's literally the only big problem I have, is that all the starting squad perks I have left to unlock require me to both find a way to clear a run entirely while also having a specific loadout/good luck, and since I don't have the luxury of a built Thorns I feel like I'm struggling a lot more with some maps (especially if I get bad luck like the multiple runs last night where I found myself with like two melee units and then like 5-6 Casters... and then dying to hubris on a stage I think I can handle, like the Duck stage) I understand not being able to get new relics and having reduced rewards, but seeing like six starting perks (including the guard one that literally everyone starts with once you unlock it) that I don't know if I can unlock is demoralizing. (Especially when I mentally compare it to being able to week one risk 18+ CC stuff)

Yeah, I'm having issues unlocking them too, not having Thorns either. I've gotten very close, but no cigar yet. At least everything gets unlocked for everyone in the final week so you can muck around with them then.

I just got my second normal difficulty clear and still haven't managed to unlock any of the class squads except healer/sniper. I think healers have got to be the least useful class for this mode, both to recruit and to promote.ungulateman posted:the wraiths in 'a torrent of fact and fiction' have fifteen million times more hp than the wraiths on every other map. i will not be taking further questions at this time. They're ridiculous. I had the -25% enemy defense and enemies take +35% physical damage artifacts and even then Thorns with Aak S3 (and all my other dps) could only barely handle two of them at once. I think they must have super high defense or something, on a run where I had S2 Eyja and Suzuran they didn't give me any trouble. This crew was so good, I think I lost under 10 objective hp total in the entire run. I lucked out and got Eyj, Blaze, W, and Ethan all within the first few nodes and then just steamrolled the entire run. It definitely gave me a newfound appreciation for Ethan, yo-yo man wrecks.

Man I thought I had a sure thing going when I came out of the first map with an E2 Thorns, but it turns out Thorns + 4 medics doesn't quite cut it in Ursus tetris.

The roguelike definitely favors aggressive playstyle more. The first Medic voucher is welcome, but any more often feels like a lowroll as a result

I never really want more than one medic, except that one map with the ranged junkmen and the big shield guys, and very limited ranged slots, where I want three.

For most maps I don't even want one medic, but you have to pick one or die to the poison haze. I'd build Folinic (and Podenco, and Cutter, and...) if we had reassurance that this game mode would come back any time soon, but currently it's hard to justify

Nightingale is probably the best medic for this mode imo since you never really need a lot of single target healing throughput, and her decoys let her provide some extra utility that allows her to do double duty on some maps. Then again, she's a 6* so she may not be worth the hope anyway.

I wouldn't be surprised if roguelike is back for the Gavial event rerun on CN. Also I got cocky and lost a run in floor 1 and now I feel really dumb.

Draxion posted:I never really want more than one medic, except that one map with the ranged junkmen and the big shield guys, and very limited ranged slots, where I want three. that is not a stage where you want medics, certainly not multiple. you want a caster to put on the bottom ranged slot facing up, to shoot the hammer bros, and then you want defenders with other melee units that can hit around them in the other lanes (either ranged guards, ideally with arts damage, or ethan). the ranged slots at the top are bait and should only be deployed on to quickly deal some damage to the regenerating armor dudes before retreating when the next set of hammer bros comes in. then you drop a unit to bait the caster(s) stun, swap your caster out for either a medic or more damage depending on your ground operators, and you're home scot free.

I've managed to keep W in the top-right slot alive (facing down to cover both lanes) with Nearl healing her. I don't bother trying to kill the hammer dudes early and just heal through it normally. I use a caster or support in the center slot facing right to help kill the shield dudes.

Draxion posted:I never really want more than one medic, except that one map with the ranged junkmen and the big shield guys, and very limited ranged slots, where I want three. Yeah, I usually just use an E1 20 Ansel or an E2 Perfumer if I want to splurge, and if I lose it's never because I needed more medics (unless I had 0). There are definitely some units I would build for this mode except if it were going to be a permanent thing. It would be cool if we could do it as an alternative to annihilatio or something.

Minrad posted:simply run gummi and scene Scene, Mayer and Magallan are all pretty good, the main issue is that under normal circumstances there's not a lot of reason to have their Summons using deployment slots over actual ops who are stronger, aside for maybe situations of absurdly tight DP progressions or having the ability to fudge deployment order issues (way easier to fix accidentally deploying your Defender before a ranged squishy by just also throwing down a 5 DP Buggy Cam than sorting out looping the Defender back out and in again after their redeploy timer expires).

I mean having an easier time doing a first time clear of any stage is as good a reason as any to invest in an op, as far as Scene is concerned. She's good for cc too, as I believe there was a risk 18 clear with just Scene and Thorns last CC.

I don't understand the fungimist thing. It often seems impossible; like I'll only get certificates for a single vanguard and then it'll throw a bunch of enemies are me in an early round. Furthest I've gotten is the final fight in the third area. edit: Hm, just unlocked "Support Squad." Seems good. edit2: What's the difference between an "Elite" rec and a regular one? Also, what does promoting do? I noticed it unlocks the third skill for 6* operators, but I'm not sure what else it's doing. God dammit, this time it only gave me one rec for a melee operator and gave me a situation where my only choices were maps that had multiple exits to defend Ytlaya fucked around with this message at 23:16 on Mar 3, 2021 |
