Foam Monkey posted:What hurts more though is my library closed and I had just signed up for a few classes there this month. My library closed tonight. I went last night to pick up some interlibrary loan books I checked out, and the DVD section was shoulder to shoulder. Wow, forget social distancing to rummage through materials that any member of the general public can get their hands on.

I'm sorry Burt. I lived in northern Italy for five years. The woman who recruited me to work where I worked is from Bergamo and has parents that live there too. She hasn't seen them since the first weekend in March and doesn't expect to see them until the end of May at the earliest. My heart breaks for all of my friends over there.

Hope you're a doctor, lawyer, security specialist, or just independently rich because otherwise moving from the US to anywhere with running water is very, very unlikely. Trump has built a figurative wall to keep us all in.

Where I live, the CHUDs are arguing that it's their right to shop without a mask on if you have a medical condition that prohibits it. When people counter that with, "Well most people are masked up, so it is the maskless who should do curbside or delivery", they push back with "No, you!". The Midwest was a mistake.

The US is wasting tests/testing on sports teams/athletes. That’s only hurting the overall testing system and slowing things down. Think of all the tests being done in Orlando at Disney World for the NBA and MLS teams, not to mention all the other sports that are trying to start/finish their 2020 seasons. All sports should have been shut down for the rest of the year. Let’s not waste resources on meaningless stuff right now. I'd think and believe that if I had any hope for this shithole country.

Pennywise the Frown posted:I'm just flabbergasted. I checked my local news FB page and they posted an article about the GOP challenging Governor Ever's mask order and like 90% of the people were making fun of the GOP being big babies and are suggesting following science, etc. Usually there are a ton of chuds and MAH FREEDOM types but they were by far in the minority. I have the same feelings, just over the border. I know the vast majority of people in my life that are educated and on the left, when I tell them that I troll the local lunatics on FB, say "I don't even scroll down on the articles". I have a feeling that all those CHUDs posting on FB repetitively are Boomers whose kids have cut them off or they're Crazy Uncle Barry that lives in Grandma and Grandpa's carriage house and has never touched a woman and they're lonely with no other outlet to communicate their bile.

UPS drivers have broken down bodies by middle age and by retirement suffer "unexpected" heart attacks. Sitting in a truck, eating fast food every day and bending to load and unload heavy items exacts a toll further down the road.

I'm so sorry, Spinz. My brother was too violent for his group home last year, due to being drugged on way too many pharmaceuticals. He's now in one of Illinois' state mental health centers, where they had an outbreak back in May. We can visit him, and he's able to wear a mask (cue jokes about how r-worded MAGA CHUDs are), but we can't have contact with him. He likes to grab us by the arm to take us to where he wants to go to. I figure I won't see him for another year, at the least.

The vile pieces of poo poo where my mom lives in the semi-rural Midwest are flooding the mobile COVID testing site in an effort to drive the positivity rate below 8%. Then, indoor dining and drinking at bars will resume. I know Europe has their own CHUDs but not in these numbers with this aggressive stupidity.

A friend of a friend is a health inspector in a collar county of Chicago. She told us to expect Gov. Pritzker to issue a statewide lockdown on Wednesday. There are COVID positive waitstaff showing up at the restaurants/bars they work at and getting them shut down left, right and center, who were open IN DEFIANCE of the Governor's region-wide restrictions. I loving hate everyone. Off to the grocery store to horde TP I guess.
