Admins should pull the IP logs and ban the dumbfuck for evading a permaban if that's the case, just as they would with any other account.

But they won't, they'll protect their own to the bitter end. If Aatrek was around today he'd have an obvious parachute and none of the mods would give a poo poo.

How China weaponized its supply chain

quote:

Damningly, while President Xi Jinping tried to suppress the pandemic brewing in Wuhan, his senior advisors conspired to weaponize China’s medical supply chain by draining high-quality medical supplies from Western sources, flooding desperate ones with bad equipment, and controlling a global position in pharmaceutical manufacturing. This represents a whole new unimaginable concept for Canadian foreign policy to contend with: weaponized medicine.

China Customs press release detailing the volume of PPE imported from overseas in January.

To give you some sense of scale, between Jan 24th & Feb 24th customs inspected and released "2.02 billion pieces of prevention and control materials, valued at 6.53 billion yuan: 1.97 billion protective items, including 1.63 billion masks, 18.62 million pieces of protective clothing, 3.56 million pairs of goggles; 13.55 million pieces of sterilized items; 4.39 million pieces of medical equipment (799,000 were infrared thermometers) & 21.23 million other prevention and control materials."

Fuzhou Daily (pure CCP Propaganda) article detailing United Front Workers, international students & employees from a myriad of Chinese-state companies abroad purchasing PPE and shipping it back to mainland China.

Both of these are official sources from the CCP. Whether or not they deliberately suppressed and continue to suppress the true number of victims in China is, IMO, less relevant than direct evidence that they set out to create an artificial shortage of medical supplies worldwide beginning in January.

That would require there to be a culture of negativity towards racism, whereas China is still firmly stuck in a racial superiority mindset and has zero fucks to give internally.

Racism as a concept only has value there when leveraged as a weapon against nations who do care about it.

There was some discussion of Cixin Liu a while back and how weirdly unsettling the books were in terms of narrative structural differences. IMO it's less weird if you look at them as simultaneously hard commentary on the hosed up nature of modern China and how the revolution created it, but also propaganda for the gloriousity of modern China.

They've got a new one out "of Ants & Dinosaurs", in which that propaganda part has never shined brighter. Hooo boy, that novel is less subtle than a knife in the eye. Award-winning popularity hasn't altered the translation to make the structure any less alien, either.

Remember when China dropped a Long March on a village by accident when they blew up their launch facilities in the 90's, and the response was to wipe away any evidence the village existed and pretend they didn't kill several hundred people? And how they sifted through the wreckage to try and steal tech off the satellite they blew up on the pad? And were banned from being used as a commercial launch partner for decades afterwards as a result?

It's hard to strive for quality when your entire tech tree relies on stolen documentation which you don't fully understand.

The USA is absolutely materially declining, it would be an insane degree of willful ignorance to suggest otherwise, and I suggest Zeihans new work Disunited Nations for a look at the whys of that and the potential chaos which is going to fill that power vacuum as the USA retreats from global dominance.

China is hosed in that new paradigm, obvs. They rely too much on imports to feed and power the country, are surrounded by nations which hate them passionately, and have zero naval capability to defend their supply lines.

The cost of speaking up against China

quote:

Women who made allegations last month of rape and sexual abuse in Chinese detention camps have been harassed and smeared in the weeks since. Rights groups say the attacks are typical of an aggressive campaign by China to silence those who speak up.

quote:

Before the officer hung up, Sedik said, he told her several times to go to the Chinese embassy so the staff there could arrange her safe passage back to China - a common instruction in these kinds of calls.

"This country opens its arms to you," he said.

quote:

The attacks on Ziawudun and others showed that China was "adopting misogyny as a style of public communication," said James Millward, a professor of Chinese history at Georgetown University.

:thunk:

quote:

The Chinese embassy in London told the BBC that the allegations in this story were "completely untrue" and it was "baffling that the BBC so readily believes whatever is said by a few 'East Turkestan' elements outside China" - using another term for the Xinjiang region.

Ah, well, the BBC is just imperialist propaganda being run by the CIA after all. :downs:

Don't get me wrong, compared to how most western countries handled it Japan's done better, but compared to other Asian countries they've been huge idiots. They're really not trying at all.

Don't worry though, they're about to get serious and suggest restaurants close one hour earlier to really fix the problem.

In some stations like Mitaka, this means restaurants in North Exit have to close at 8pm because the ward is under quasi SOE, but in South Exit can be open till 9 pm since ward is not under quasi SOE."

Governments around the world should probably be taking the revelations on how dependent they are on tourism for revenue as a big loving alarm bell and making strides to, uh, fix that poo poo.

But instead they've largely just decided that people dying to keep tourism industries afloat is cool and good, which is :laffo:.

Survivor Recounts Brutal Conditions That Killed 21 Marathon Runners

One in eight contestants, including elite runners, died in the race in China, making it one of the deadliest running events in modern history.

quote:

The staggering death toll—one in eight of the 172 athletes who joined the race did not survive—has prompted public outrage in China and raised questions about the competence of the event’s organizers.

quote:

The Chinese public has questioned if lapses in safety protocols contributed to tragedy. The daughter of Lu Zhengyi, who was among the dead contestants, posted a series of questions for the organizers on her verified Weibo account, asking why they did not prepare runners against potential hostile weather conditions and deploy more staff along the trail.

“The image of my dad foaming at his mouth, hands turning purple from the cold, was deeply imprinted on my brain,” she wrote. “I hope someone will step up, and give the people who slacked off at their jobs the punishment they deserve.

It me, running until I die of Hypothermia because stopping to save my own life is inconceivable. If only the state had stepped in and told me I should stop running in the extreme cold!!!

Always good to remember that the tiny minority of posters rabbling over in QCS sincerely believe the massacre photos from Tiananmen were staged by the CIA using crisis actors.

But the mods allow them to post their purestrain insanity and open genocide denial freely on this website, despite their constant and increasingly fervent attempts to shut down any discourse they disagree with by weaponizing forums features such as the rap sheet and report button.
