I get a weird kind of nostalgia from this stuff. For my early grade school years this was the sound of adulthood. If my parents got dressed up and left me with a babysitter they were, in my mind, going somewhere with this sort of vibe. I don't think it's because they listened to it much, it was just on the radio a lot and obviously something grown-ups were into.
