I think it was JJ Abrams who said that there were some very complex legal reasons that Disney couldn’t release theatrical versions. I suspect it was something George insisted on during the sale.

a.lo posted:As much as I love the original Star Wars Trilogy, and the battle with the first Death Star...now adays I just can’t help but notice how when writing the battle they just didn’t consider certain tactics. You could come up with lots of in universe rationales for this... But the real reason is that is the way it happened in Dambusters, the film Lucas took the scene from.

Mode 7 posted:Is there a label/category for that particular genre of 70s/80s pulp fantasy sci-fi mashup seen in stuff like Masters of the Universe, Marvel's Thor/Asgardian stuff (to differing degrees depending on writer though Thor Ragnarok, for example, leans into it pretty hard), the old iOS games Infinity Blade and particularly God of Blades (they had faux novel covers of various novels in 'the God of Blades universe' which was amazing), uh.... I'm struggling to think of other examples off the top of my head. Everything Gloryhammer has done feels like a loving parody/homage to the type of stuff I'm talking about where you have space knights that include a barbarian and a cyborg fighting an evil Space Wizard. What you’re describing is often referred to as Sword and Planet or Planetary Romance. but really most pre 1980s sci-fi falls into this category as the distinction between sci-fi and fantasy is really a recent trend.

I saw it in the theater in 3D, I liked it, but didn't feel like I needed two more movies.

Ghost Leviathan posted:I'm going through Clone Wars and while I doubt it has a pro wrestling episode, I'd still be disappointed if it doesn't. The most recent season of Duck Tales has a wrestling episode, and it's great.
