I've changed my mind, I now hope he lives and has to come to terms with the fact that he was unable to turn germs away with a stiff upper lip and a can-do attitude.

Maybe if we close our eyes and imagine really hard it will go back to being 1945 again. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.

The main thing stopping flour being in the grocer's isn't the flour itself, it's a shortage of the 1kg paper bags it goes in. There's actually an oversupply 'cause all the places that would be manufacturing sandwiches for people to buy in their lunch break have gone on furlough.

If you're willing to order like a 16kg sack of it online you can have all the flour you're ever gonna need.

Wait, really? Is there a source for that - not doubting it, just want to share with friends who are ranting about not being able to get flour!

Mostly just that the first item when I search for 'bulk flour uk' has a load of 16kg bags of flour still available for sale. Could be there's another mechanism driving it, of course, but bulk flour is very much still on the menu.

Well let's be fair, we're at the top of the EU's leaderboard for coronavirus right now so it makes sense that we start relaxing restrictions.

wait that's a leaderboard for what?

Anybody with enough personal savings that they can continue for a while on 60% salary gets to live, everybody else should have thought of this when they were blowing the government's money on widescreen TVs and crack cocaine

Strange this. Mail service is privately owned in Germany? After more than a decade of tory misrule it's the only publicly owned service that has not been decimated.

If Royal Mail were fully privatised, businesses wouldn't be able to have their door-to-door delivery of marketing bollocks subsidised by the taxpayer.

So it turns out I'm misremembering -- it's Socialist Monopoly that is out-and-out mean-spirited. Ms Monopoly is merely incredibly patronising: you get to pick a wine glass as one of your counters, women get more money for passing go, and the community chest cards mention twisting your ankle in high heels. FEMINISM IS SOLVED.

Same! And I couldn’t find anything about this show online for years. I searched and searched and only recently came across info about it on an obscure Wordpress blog. So glad it wasn’t all in my head.

Unfortunately it seems that specific episode isn’t online anywhere. I’d really like to watch it for some closure for my childhood trauma.

Holy poo poo that episode gave me nightmares for years. I was terrified of it. I remember managing to find an episode on YouTube and I was reassured by how the whole series was nightmare fuel straight from the uncanny valley.
