This site is full of old heads, so I'm going to assume you genuinely do not know what TikTok is OP There's a bunch of boring merger and company history which doesn't matter. All you need to know is that there used to be something called Musical.ly which was meant for dancing and lip syncing videos. Eventually kids started meme-ing each other on there, and at some point it became TikTok - to be honest it's all kind of a blur. There are still dances and lip syncing stuff on TikTok, but it the main appeal is humor which is why people say it's like Vine. Vine was made a while back before TikTok, but it shut down a few years ago. Users would post short videos, I think the max length was 7 seconds or something, which led to a fuckton of funny videos that were easy to quote. After it shut down, people made "RIP Vine" compilations on youtube to keep it alive. so many goons are curmudgeonly about tiktok, but honestly there’s a huge overlap between zoomer humor and goon humor. a lot of “lol nothin matters”. all the good original content comes from tiktok now before it trickles into the rest of the internet. goons are kind of like an alpha version of gen z, and y’all need to adapt or become (more) obsolete
