Hard to say. The common wisdom is that water does not enter the vagina when submerged in baths, swimming, etc. but there are a few papers that found women who did experience vaginal entrapment of water after bathing. So is it a common thing that goes unreported because it's not a big deal, or an uncommon thing that goes unreported because it's rare? the exception to this is is you're putting anything up in you while submerged, then water will come, too.

Yeah this seems reasonable! My understanding that it's no big deal, but the whole thing sounds much more weird/gross than it is when filtered through Katie Hopkins

Also, Katie Hopkins bath water

I feel like "tankie" also gets thrown around a lot at people who point out the hypocrisy of the United States foreign policy (in which case it's responded with accusations of "whataboutism", which, buzzword or not really doesn't stop it being a valid observation) and people who are shall we say...aggressively and understandably anti-interventionist (the likes of Assad are, undoubtedly, pieces of poo poo...but the last 20 years alone should've been enough to show everyone that no good can ever come from actions/sanctions/attacks by the U.S. government to address the evil of said leaders...people do take the "enemy of my enemy" thing too far though for sure)

how would one call a "tankie in reverse"? like is there a catchy term for a gung ho neo-conservative (or just a super pro-american neo-liberal) who's all about exporting that democracy and free markets, by force if necessary? Oh yeah, and who's all about US/western world foreign policy apologia?

i recall reading somewhere that most real-life CEOs usually do no more than 25-30 hours of actual work per week. which makes sense, and kinda makes me think that the entire "grind culture" is essentially an elaborate collective self-delusion at best and a huge cult-like decentralised pyramid scheme at worst

nurmie

RoboRodent posted:

I'm not sure it's self-delusion. I think it's just not often spoken aloud.

oh yeah, the rat race mentality is definitely a huge part of this whole thing. a lot of it boils down to "you're a Loser if you earn other people's money for them, but! if you just grind harder than everyone else, you will Win at Life and will have a bunch of Losers earn your money for you"

the element of self-delusion comes in two flavours, i suppose. the first flavour being the conviction that this particular grinder has got what it takes to out-grind everyone else and reach the top of the pyramid; the second flavour being that the entire rat-race premise is incredibly flawed and only succeeds at wearing people down at best and making them engage in competitive ratfuckery at worst in vain attempts to rise above all the other Losers

and, of course, there's the part where this whole entire "grind mindset" has got nothing to do with how amassing and generating wealth actually works under capitalism

My parents were always rifling through my poo poo, so I had to become a master at hiding stuff. This leads to the one time I saw a cop being cool.

Our home had been broken into while we were on vacation. The burglars, which turned out to be some local teens looking to gently caress around rather than steal poo poo, found my dads hunting rifle, and fired it through the floor. I imagine when that thing went off they poo poo their pants and ran like babies. But anyway, the bullet went through the floor, and down into my bedroom. So the detectives are checking for evidence and all that, and some of the drawers on my dresser were a bit askew. So he's opening them from top to bottom, to see if anything stands out right away. He's going from top to bottom, and my heartbeat is starting to rise. Under the bottom drawer, in that little space between it and the floor, is where I stashed some nudie mags. Me, the cops, the detectives, and my parents are all standing there watching the goings on, and I'm silently losing my poo poo.

He gets to the bottom drawer, and I am freaking out. He pulls it out a bit, and I assume realizing like most drawers there is a space under the bottom one, pulls it out a bit more. He starts pulling, and all of a sudden stops. I can see from the angle that he can clearly see into the space below, and it's contents, but no one else can. He then pushes the drawer back in saying "No, nothing in here."

After that he gives me a side-eye and a chuckle with a little smirk on his face. He could've completely destroyed my life, and chose to stay silent.
