Building your house near a dam is like building it near a volcano. If poo poo kicks off it's sad and all, but in your heart you knew this was going to happen.

Whats up with all those dams breaking? I thought america was good at building things like that and had a lot of money. If i was american i'd be worried about crossing any bridges right about now.

What kind of dam failure is going on here? Are the dams washing away? Back in the old Houston hurricane flooding thread there was tons of posting and reporting about “dam failure” which sounded very dramatic but in reality it just meant the water retained was so great that it started to wash around the edges of the dam like a bath tub overflowing. Not great, but the catastrophic “dam gone now” never happened.

Captain Beans posted:What kind of dam failure is going on here? Are the dams washing away? At the beginning everyone was imagining some Hoover Dam like structure crumbling in cinematic fashion which would devistate the downstream community but in reality the "dam" was just a six foot high dirt retaining wall that some water sloshed over causing some downstream drains to back up slightly until city maintenance sent guys out to clear away the sticks and leaves. And for days the thread was a circlejerk of goons convinced the entire city of Houston Texas was just seconds away from being washed into the Gulf of Mexico

Someone even linked an interactive map of the over 4,000 (I think) bridges in need of maintenance. That's normal! What's the end game though realistically. Defunding education while raising price of admission, defunding hospitals, defunding / dismantling welfare programs, neglecting the poor, neglecting infrastructure, whatever the list goes on forever but all these things have been systemic for 50 years or something. Do the powers that be just want to rule over mud people that are no more intelligent than an ox? Oh ok nm I see it now flubber nuts fucked around with this message at 13:09 on May 20, 2020 |

Oh the entire US is populated by idiots because no one can read anymore and math is against the law? US' fault obviously. A bridge fell onto an orphanage? Well that's Uncle Sam. The US does the opposite and tries to spend resources to do upkeep? Nope that's imperialism. Can't do that either. US colonizes the moon with slave labor? Also bad. Without slave labor? Too socialist. Fuckin unbelievable.
