Would using Nike brand socks for my seed be a cool flex?
I am looking to make some games for the proverbial shits and giggles, but I am more of an artist than a coder. Unreal Engine is free and seems to have a lot of n00b friendly features, but it is taking a tremendous poo poo on my computer's willingness to live. I was considering making something weird and wild with something like Build, but if anyone knows some smooth brain friendly engines that are free let me know before I install a new cooling system into my head.

Unity3d probably won’t work on your potato PC if UE doesn’t... Maybe try a 2d engine like Game Maker?

Godot is a good light-weight engine if you are looking at 2D. If you are looking for mostly text adventure Twine is a pretty engine. If you want more like old school Monkey Island 2D click adventures then Adventure Game Studio is good on that front.

people will whinge and complain about GDScript but it's pretty easy to pick up.
