Torpedoes, bombs, and missiles fired at turreted ships when locked on get shot down much like any other target that doesn't evade fire gets shot down. YT freighter turrets when set on autonomous mode also do this.

and dumb fire your payload. If you don't the capital ship turrets will be able to target and shoot down your torpedoes.
