Listen Along: Bossa For Jackie - Fantastic Plastic Machine

Despite how absolutely groovy Theo Reticule felt from the powerful cocktail of adrenaline, sedatives, painkillers, intoxicants, and coolants rushing through his bloodstream, the burning Wrecker in the shorted-out Gamma Bounder knew that something was amiss - terribly amiss.

"Hot dog!" the canine-like Wrecker suddenly declared at once, sitting placated within the cockpit of his rig TerraBrad like a throne, his shades reflecting the flames circled all around him. "We're in a tight spot, aren't we Skipp?"

The dog-man broke into a giggle as the flames rose and grew hotter around his opened cockpit, hotter than his heavily-medicated flesh could take. Theo reared back and starting cackling, and as he did he jammed on the controls of his Gamma Bounder again and again for good measure, trying to get the rig to restart, but the burning mech didn't budge at all. Suddenly, in spite of it all, it was all coming back to him. There had been bounders, and a chase, and allies left behind, and then... his Horror had dug up some wires to menace some mutants just before a huge, fiery explosion had happened, but everything had been blurriest around then - and now? A fog seemed to be lifting...

Theo heard it before he saw it: a horrible screeching, followed by the sight of the mutant Filet-o-Mind writhing and burning with flames it couldn't put out. Some kind of psychic hold over Theo's mind was suddenly released, and Theo was no longer left clawing desperately to form his thoughts.

"Baham?! Where are you, buddo?" Theo blurted out. His Motile Biocover 'Wedge' was nowhere to be seen.

The Wrecker quickly leaned outside the rig cockpit to get a better look around and somehow managed to get himself tangled in his seat restraints. Despite possessing enough lucidity for coherence, Theo wasn't clearheaded by any stretch of the imagination.

"Augh..." Theo managed, squeezing back into place

The Ground Horror named Baham was nowhere to be seen.

"Well keep a lookout!" Theo barked to his loyal and beefy beast, and tucked his head back inside the rig. "I gotta reboot TerraBrad..."

So long as Theo was unable to move in his powered-off rig, he was a sitting duck for whatever murderous mutants still lurked in the area. The dog-like Wrecker pulled out and primed his best holdout weapon (DPM Shottie, natch) and started flipping switches and dials on the Gamma rig's controls, trying to get some life back in his precious custom Bounder.

Movement:
> MOV.Theo: Theo takes Aim! If allowed, he tracks the movements of the MCAD Manhunter!

Sponsors: Ah, wow. This is just ... totally fantastic. I, uh, might be burning to death here without your help, Magitek Mafia! Um, if I could get any two Sponsor shipments sent to me from the cosmos right now, they would probably hold the following:

> Order a HEALdrone Delivery (25L) of one Experimental (ACTs to put out Burn tokens) Motile Biocover (13L) to Theo Reticule (11 Theo, 27 ???)!

Dinosaur Gum

Holed up in his corner office suite well into the gloomy night, Dr. Wiley tapped an executive's console stylus on his desk as he listened to the hold music on his comms dialer. Suddenly, he snapped to attention in his seat.

"Yes, I'm a legal citizen," Dr. Skipp Wiley Sr. spoke with clear intent over the comms, leaning on his elbow. "Yes, I'm over the age of seventeen. Cripes, what kind of ancient commserver is this?"

The Director of Sponsorship Affairs at Cosmiq Pharmaware's Wrecker Investments Division fidgeted with his wallet and slapped his payment chip against his cheek good and hard for the jawscan, so he could be connected with a real, honest-to-gosh psychic.

"Hi there! Hell-o. Uh, one fortune please." Dr. Wiley said to the cool-voiced person on the line.

"Oh, right - I dunno. What's good, cards? Sure." Dr. Wiley ejected.

Dr. Wiley watched as a glowing tarot deck appeared on a comms-inserted viewscreen on his holodisplay. The cards looked to be mid-Avocadoo Chipes-era graphics, but they appeared appropriately shimmery and cheerful enough.

"Right, I see 'em, so - hit me with it." Dr. Wiley ordered, ready for anything.

The middle-aged middle-manager drummed his hands on his console desk with one hand and rubbed at his temple with the other as he experienced the indignity of being corrected over the comms line by a person calmer and less stationed than him.

"Well then - pray tell, oh wise one, how does it work?" Dr. Wiley snipped.

"Okay, fine," the Director of Sponsorship Affairs at Cosmiq's Wrecker Investments Division let out, after a beat. "I'm in a pivotal directorship position in a big corpo, lots of flash and cash, and my standings and investments are largely tied to a recent hire I vouched for that may just cost the company a lot of dosh by... well, by dying. Yes, entertainment, how did you- right."

"Uh..." Dr. Wiley started, running a hand over his rapidly greying and thinning scalp. "Red hair, and yes: fair skin... eyes: hazel. Look, is all this really that important? You setting up a dating profile here or just trying to steal my ID? C'mon, fantasmae, let's cut to the chase-"

"Cap- Er, Capricorn, then. Good enough? Okay, great." Dr. Wiley allowed, getting exasperated.

The man folded his arms and leaned back in his ergonomic anti-grav office chair. He was already starting to regret this.

The floating deck of holo-cards flew into the air and spread itself out, seventy-seven card backs in all - and a single card was plucked from the spread and revealed.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

Significator:
[[Ten of Wands - The Lord of Oppression]]
This card was chosen to represent the seeker and their struggles. The Ten of Wands signifies the weight of your ambitions and the burdens of your successes. You are carrying a heavy load.

"Darn tootin', honey." Dr. Wiley nodded with respect towards the assessment, his arms still folded.

Dr. Wiley stared into the man on the card's image, burdened with the weight of the ten heavy staffs packed onto his back. They looked so heavy...

"Okay, what's next?" Dr. Wiley pressed.

The holo-deck restacked itself and started a digitized shuffling procedure. A message appeared and a glowing 'stop' button popped up in the shuffling display:

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

[[State your question and think [Stop] to stop shuffling]]

"Ok: what am I gonna do about Theo Reticule? Stop." Dr. Wiley remarked dryly.

The animated shuffling deck promptly froze, cut itself into thirds, restacked, and shrunk down into the holo-display's upper corner. The top card was drawn from the deck, whisked over to the central Ten of Wands, and flipped over.

Dr. Wiley blanched.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Covers You:
[[The Moon - Ruler of Flux and Reflux]]
1st card drawn: this card establishes the atmosphere surrounding the query. The Moon signifies deep, instinctual, and preternatural awareness, and the creation of entertaining illusions. You are aware that this is a time to be especially passive and receptive.

"Okay..." allowed Dr. Wiley, clamming up a bit as the memories of losing his daughter to the moon came flooding back.

He swallowed. "Next card."

The second-drawn card left the deck and arranged itself sideways over the The Moon at the center before flipping over. Dr. Wiley winced again when he saw the cruel-looking card that followed.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Crosses You, For Good Or Ill:
[[Five of Pentacles - Lord of Material Trouble]]
2nd card drawn: this card represents the seeker's challenges and obstacles, and forms a 'micro-cross' with the first-drawn card. The Five of Pentacles signifies misfortunes, troubles, hardships, poverty, and unemployment. In matters of business, you must not take unnecessary risks, as a loss of money or a job would be the likely outcome.

"I mean," Dr. Wiley reacted, his face screwing up as he threw his hands in the air, "that's exactly what I'm here about - tell me something I don't know! Besides, it's a little late for me to pull out of my dealings... So, what's next?"

The third card floated beneath the central stack and rotated itself around to reveal its contents.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Is Beneath You:
[[The Devil - Lord of the Gates of Matter]]
3rd card drawn: this card reveals the symbolic foundations to the question. The Devil signifies bondage, hopelessness, and self-imposed limitations. You have been feeling trapped in an oppressive situation of your own making, and you need to take a good, hard look at your perceived reality.

"Yes," Dr. Wiley blurted, "and I'm sure being a hotline psychic is all it's cracked up to be, too. Next."

The Director of Sponsorship Affairs didn't like the implication of an ancient evil bogeyman being at the root of all his troubles, not at all.

The fourth card placed itself to the left of the Ten of Wands and flipped itself around. Dr. Wiley's eyebrow raised in curiosity.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Is Behind You:
[[The Hermit - Magus of the Voice of Light]]
4th card drawn: this card pertains to the recent past that has brought the seeker to their question. The Hermit signifies time spent in contemplation, solitude, and meditation. You have been sequestering yourself away from your loved ones lately.

Dr. Wiley stopped the think of all the times he'd stayed over late at work in the past months, frequently coming home long after his children had already gone to bed. He tried to repress a chill. He glanced at the clock on his console and grimaced.

"Right again, smarty-pants" he allowed. "Okay, hit me with another. Next."

The fifth card floated above the central three cards and spun around.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Crowns You:
[[Two of Wands - Lord of Dominion]]
5th card drawn: this card shows the seeker the potential of their goals, ideals, and opportunities. The Two of Wands signifies a cooperative venture, a joint creative endeavor, or a new business partnership. Your goal is to complete the first stage of a new and successful partnership, and you may feel restless as you prepare for future changes.

"I mean sure that's what I wanted, and he was off to a good start, I guess? ...But now look at him." Dr. Wiley groused. "So what's the score - where does this lead? Next."

The sixth holo-card levitated off the deck and positioned itself to the right of the central cards, forming a cross with the rest.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Is Before You:
[[King of Cups - Prince of the Chariot of Water]]
6th card drawn: this card reveals the factors in the immediate future that must be addressed to lead the seeker to the goals of their Crowning card. The King of Cups signifies compassion, consideration, kindness, and protection. You will be involved in a situation in which caring and empathic assistance are of the utmost importance.

"Piffle!" Dr. Wiley spat. "I'm about to lose my livelihood and you want me to play nice? This is hooey! If that's all you got then I want my money back."

A line of text floating over the inset holo-display offered to draw the rest of the Celtic Cross spread for him.

"Oh, there's more? Next, then!"

The seventh card moved to the lower right of the display, forming the base of a tower or pillar.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Is Your Self:
[[Six of Cups - Lord of Pleasure]]
7th card drawn: this card shows where the seeker stands on the issue in question. The Six of Cups signifies nostalgia, memories of childhood and family, and sentimentality. You believe your children may play a significant role in your current predicament, and you need to deal with the memories of your past.

Dr. Wiley was stunned - there had always been a nagging sensation that what the dog-man had told him during their undisclosed pre-hire interview was his own warped version of the truth, but now Dr. Wiley had a reason to believe that what Theo had admitted to might actually have legs. Dr. Wiley had always wanted the same opportunities for his children that his single season in Wrecking Crew had afforded him, but just look at how the two of them had ended up...

"Yes. Good. Next." Dr. Wiley urged flatly, ready to move on.

The eighth card lifted off the holodeck and floated above the seventh card before flipping itself over.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Is Your Environment And Those Around You:
[[Eight of Wands - Lord of Swiftness]]
8th card drawn: this card represents the 'House' of friends, family and coworkers involved in the matter. The Eight of Wands signifies speed, swift action, smooth and rapid progress. Your peers do not know the meaning of slowness, in fact everything that they do must be 'full steam ahead', since they are always on the go.

Dr. Wiley thought of everyone and everything going on in the Sponsors' lounge, and nodded grimly.

"Far too accurate, I'm afraid." Dr. Wiley confessed. "Please, do go on. Next."

The ninth and second-to-last card in the tower moved above the House card and spun around for Dr. Wiley to see. He caught a strangled gasp at the back of his throat.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Is Your Hopes, Fears, And Expectations:
[[Ten of Swords - Lord of Ruin]]
9th card drawn: this card clarifies the seeker's ideas of what's to come. The Ten of Swords represents an irrevocable ending; ruin, failure, betrayal, separation, and death. You are afraid that a great change will be forced upon you and you will have no say in the matter whatsoever. You're afraid you will have to let go of your dreams.

"Yes, yes!" Dr. Wiley admitted, feeling the tingling of goosebumps running up and down his spine. "That's just it... I need to know: what - what's going to happen? Next!"

The tenth and final drawn card lifted off the holo-tarot deck and flitted to the top of the pillar on the right, hovering in place before it too finally flipped over.

Dr. Wiley didn't realize that he was clenching both his fists atop his console desk.

Fortun8R 9000 posted:

This Is What Will Come:
[[Two of Cups - Lord of Love]]
10th card drawn: this card predicts the most likely outcome, when interpreted in conjunction with all the other cards in the spread. The Two of Cups signifies a happy union; of sharing, warmth, and the beginning of a harmonious partnership. If you are able to meet what is coming to you in the future with kindness and compassion, you will find yourself entering into the next stages of a successful and cooperative relationship. Furthermore, a thoughtful gift may well be on its way.

"Oh - a gift? Well! Isn't that nice..." Dr. Wiley allowed.

"So what you're telling me is all I have to do is wait and be nice and good things will just show up on my doorstep?" Dr. Wiley fumed. "Buddy, I can bulk order eight cartons of LubriMaxx Gel-E and get 'em shipped to my doorstep on the same day for a cheaper delivery rate than what this comms call is costing me, and I don't even have to be nice for the Gel-E!"

Dr. Wiley started listening to the other person's spiel about fortunetelling, entertainment value, and the nature of refunds, but then immediately butted back in.

"Hey - did you predict this coming: I want you to connect me with your manager." He spoke matter-of-factly, and then he sat back and tried to relax as the hold music came back on.

He glowered at the holo tarot cards spread before him, defying them into meaninglessness.

Listen Along: Midnight, The Stars and You - Al Bowlly, Ray Noble & His Orchestra

While Theo Reticule was adjusting dials and switches in his rig for the big reboot, his TuneZEN suddenly skipped a beat and changed tracks with a worrying click. Over the sound of the crackling flames wreathed around the dog-like Wrecker and his rig, a hauntingly ancient, washed-out tune from the earliest eras of sound recording began playing: chamber music. The horror.

Despite his aversion to seeming squareness, so long as his rig was powerless Theo didn't have the time or the presence of mind to adjust the music streamer's settings, and besides he had actually learned not to fight it. As usual, the TuneZEN was teaching him a lesson about being in the present moment; of learning to live for the here and now. He looked around the latest scene around himself and stopped to smell the proverbial roses.

The gas-fed-flames cooking the meateor's interior smelled heavenly to Theo's dog-like olfactory senses. Despite that, however, he was also practically on fire himself, drugged up to his gills, strapped into a jammed gamma rig, alone, out of comms, and surrounded by encroaching monsters. Arguably, there wasn't much left for Theo to live for, and he wasn't in a state to care. As far as Theo could tell, his Wreckstaking goose was cooked.

Theo heard them before he saw them: the whining whirling buzzing of two fast-approaching delivery drones. They couldn't have come at a better time!

The first HEALdrone pumped Theo full of more warm-and-fuzzy juice, dropping off a Hardlight Decoy in the process, and the second HEALdrone pushed Theo past the precipice of an oncoming blackout, ultimately depositing a very strange-looking Experimental Biocover variant. Instead of an armored shell, the novel personal defense critter had a blue, gelid bubble on its posterior.

"I was gonna call my next M.B.C. Biggs..." Skipp admitted, "But now that I see you? Nuh-uh: you're a Smalls."

Smalls the Medicating Biocover crept onto its new master's chest and clung tightly to Theo's Combat Suite. It looked straight up at Theo, dewy-eyed, expectant, and full of adoration.

Trying to avoid the awkwardness, Theo fumbled with his newly-delivered Hardlight Decoy, and in trying to put it away he looked under his seat and realized that he already had a Hardlight Decoy stowed away there, and so now he had two. Getting the gears working in his overheated head to consider using both Hardlight Decoys at once felt like rubbing two neurons together to make fire, but some murky part in the back of Theo's mind which was only marginally aware of his chances of survival secretly cheered at this revelation.

Movement: (unchanged)
> MOV.Theo: Theo takes Aim! If allowed, he tracks the movements of the MCAD Manhunter!

Listen Along: No One Lives Forever - Oingo Boingo

Thumping snare drums from the TuneZEN music stream beat a rhythmic marching tempo that seemed to match Theo Reticule's frenetically pounding pulse. He was blissed out on the finest designer drugs Wrecking Crew LTD could afford to pump their contestants with and he was fumbling with at least five different readouts from various electronics at once. A chilly blue arachnid with a human face clutched to his chest and stared into his eyes expectantly. Theo was jacked in to to a rig that was frozen in place and yet also on fire. On top of all that, his hatch was open and monsters were on their way, according to his spinal scanners. Despite all the anti-anxiety brain meds in his system, Theo was still convinced that he was about to die, without a doubt. He cursed to himself and pissed a little bit in his suit's biowaste receptacle as a final marking sacrament.

Theo muttered to himself and the cams. "You can't teach an old dog new tricks, they say - but hey, I'm still pretty spry."

The drugged-out dog-man fiddled with his suit battery cables to get his pair of Hardlight Decoys fully set up. It was taking him far too long to manage.

"I've got at least this one last ace in my hind paws. Still though... enjoy it while you can - it's just like the weather. Quit complaining brother: no one lives forever."

Theo started bobbing his head to the music as both the Hardlight Decoy's charge meters began to fill up in his readouts.

"It's the hour of the wolf and I don't wanna die," he said with the music. He'd heard this song before but never had it felt so relevant before now.

The canine-like Wrecker started dancing in his seat as his large, puck-shaped Hardlight Decoys charged up using his suit's battery reserves.

"I'm so happy dancing while the grim reaper cuts, cuts, cuts, but he can't get me..." Theo said while the Wrecker inside him flipped on all the right switches, as though by instinct.

"I'm very quick, don't forget," he murmured, "we've only got so many tricks. No one lives forever, no!"

With a quick snap of both wrists, Theo Reticule threw both fully-charged-and-activated Hardlight Decoys out of his Gamma rig's cockpit like a pair of Frisbee™s. Defiantly, Theo resisted the urge to chase them.

Listen Along: Feeling Good (Bassnectar Remix) - Nina Simone

A flock of meat-flapping dovetail-cutlets scattered to the rank winds overhead as a zapping scorch from the MCAD particle rifle and a single shot from a DPM rifle rang out across the cavernous meat-halls at the exact same moment. A warm and fragrant breeze drifted on by as Theo Reticule received a near-instantaneous ping on his Wrecker terminal, informing him that both Acolyte and the MCAD Manhunter were dead. Mutually-scored headshots were reported. Fifteen Luxe had been deposited in each surviving Wrecker's account, including Theo's. The Sponsors were already hurriedly engaging in the feeding frenzy of raiding the Wrecker Retirement Fund, Theo knew, without a doubt.

Theo also knew that he'd done all that he could to help Acolyte escape the Manslayer's punishing beam weapon, and he'd failed in that mission.

Despite all that, Theo was feeling good.

The dog-faced Wrecker was drugged to the gills, cooking in his overheating armor, practically on fire from the Air2Air that had exploded right next to him during his hunt for the Manslayer, and he felt fine about it. Theo's pet Horror 'Baham' was nowhere to be found and Theo was strapped into a Gamma Bounder that was being quickly depleted of all its spare energy by a quartet of swollen Ribbon Skates, and Theo didn't mind. The dog-boy Wrecker stared at the readouts of the Ribbon Skates supping at the juice from TerraBrad's power cells and simply shrugged. He was far too drugged and underpaid to care, and besides, there wasn't much he could do about any of that until he got his rig powered back on.

"Baham!" Theo yelled curtly, and then he remembered that his voice would give away his location. "Whups!"

The Mutant Nugget and the Filet-O-Mind stepped out of some folds masking them in the walls and launched themselves at Theo's position, but a massive set of Ground Horror claws struck out from below the meat turf's surface, slicing the mutants' legs out from under them and coup-de-graced them both.

"Good work, Baham," cheered Theo, as he continued to flick switches inside the Bounder cockpit on and off. "I thought I was gonna be a goner, too!"

The voracious Horror let out a roar to claim its meal, and the nearby monsters fled to take cover - if only briefly.

"I gotta say, I'm glad to see you... I thought - hey, I got it!" Theo crowed, just as his Gamma rig started powering back on.

Something Theo had done had worked, apparently, or else his rig TerraBrad had magically cooled its own circuits, which seemed doubtful.

TerraBrad the Gamma Bounder rose back onto its two legs and its hatch began to close, with Theo strapped and jacked inside: all systems were powering on, showing nominal hull integrity. Even Theo's comms network broadcast from his spinal array was starting to show signs of life in it again.

"Yes," rejoiced the very hot dog-man, "Yes! This means we're outta here!"

Theo set everything back just the way he liked it in his rebooted rig and put his cockpit's vents up on full blast; something was still smoking in there.

Action:
> ACT.Theo: Theo rigjacks (Mounts / Reboots / Seals Hatch) into his Gamma Bounder, TerraBrad!
> ACT.Horror: Theo orders Baham the Ground Horror to Cannibalize the Filet-O-Mind it killed thanks to that Burn token it was holding (HorrorHP: 4 -> 5/6, +1 Buff)!
> Challenge (potentially) Completed: Tzol Publishing's >Animal Style: In ACT, consume something that was recently rekd by Burn tokens.

Sponsors: Augh - not Acolyte! That was my bad... I couldn't keep the killstreak up forever, and my bad steering got them pushed into that mess. I feel so awful! I'm still a little hot under the collar from all that fuego, but I think it'll be okay for me... Even so, get me a HEALdrone on standby, won't you? Just in case!

Listen Along: Run Through The Jungle - Creedence Clearwater Revival

The Ground Horror Baham snorted and smacked its lips right after feasting on the fishy filet fricassee. Its dribbling head suddenly snapped to attention when it heard Theo Reticule's voice broadcast over the rig TerraBrad's blaring bullhorns.

"Off we go, Baham!" Theo spoke over the booming loudspeakers. "Let's blow this barbecue pit! Oh, wait - we already did..."

The large juvenile horror climbed on top of the Gamma Bounder's roof with its massive forelimbs and roared to the greasy skies.

"BAH-HAMMMM!" the Horror reported, and the custom Gamma Bounder it was riding on kicked into high gear down the meateor's cavernous tunnels.

This was the way Baham liked to ride - sitting on top of mommy's hard two-legged shell, all to itself. It was very bouncy up there and it let Baham see the whole world whoosh by so fast. All the things to see! All the stuff to smell! Best of all, it took Baham to fresh food - food and sometimes-friends - and the food was very tasty here! Baham would highly recommend getting the food, nice and fresh.

With its highly sensitive feelers, Baham the Ground Horror listened carefully to the vibrations of the Gamma Bounder's inner machinery, which also included the sounds of 'mommy' Theo Reticule inside, him and his TuneZEN audio stream. Baham liked the rhythmic music of its imprinted mother echoing inside the leg-shell's innermost egg chamber. The Horror's head bounced with the jostling movements of the Gamma Bounder's pounding pace, and it sniffed at the high methane winds intently. They were going somewhere... somewhere new?

Wherever they went, it would be best if mommy and Baham went there together. Mommy made the best decisions.

> Power Move! In his Gamma Bounder, Theo jumps to the Luxe Crucible, taking a 5-hex path to lose his Ribbon Skate pursuers (708 -> 707 -> 706 -> 705 -> 805 -> 904)!

Listen Along: Knights of Cydonia - Muse

With his canine-adjacent senses, the Wrecker Theo Reticule could hear a strange, inter-dimensional keening vibration emanating towards them from the distance. With laser-like focus, Theo jammed his Gamma Bounder's controls in the direction of the dimensionally-compromised synthetic target they'd trapped in their scanning data, and set it to full speed.

"Thar she glows, Baham-" Theo exulted over TerraBrad's loudspeakers, "the Waxer! Hold on tight."

Baham the Ground Horror grabbed tight to the Gamma Bounder's roof, and the rig pilot Theo picked up the pace. Theo knew they had no time to waste. There was only him and his destiny, and part of his destiny was destroying the D-active Gamma rig guarding the meateor's Luxe Crucible. This particular D-rig had attempted to attack Acolyte's Beta Broiler in the past, so it was clearly an enemy.

"This is for Acolyte!" Theo announced in challenge, and TerraBrad the overclocked Gamma Bounder smashed the D-formed Greaser to bits.

The Waxer rig crumpled, crumbled, and D-graded in realtime, and Terrabrad skidded to a halt in full view of the Luxe Crucible's fortified base. The battle was already over before it started.

TerraBrad's hatch popped open, and the rig's pilot Theo stared into the eyes of his roofbound pet Horror face-to-face for the first time since they'd bonded.

"Baham, you smell amazing! Are you on fire?" Theo asked, despite already knowing the answer. "I think I kinda am, too!"

"Quick, break open that big ol' bug on my chest, Baham," Theo requested of the beast, presenting to the Horror: 'Smalls,' the Medicating Biocover filled with Burn-stopping gel. "It's okay: Smalls is ready to help!"

> ENC.Horror: Theo orders Baham to attack the Medicating Biocover 'Smalls'! Baham vs Medicating Biocover: 1d10 8 - Hit! 2 damage +Break to Medicating Biocover! :zpatriot:

Listen Along: Mr. Croissant Taker - Transistorcake

Theo Reticule saw it happening before he could react. Everything was happening far too fast all around him and Theo felt like he was trapped in molasses, again with his hatch popped open. Chrono-distortion: here of all places. Don't panic, or you'll be stuck that way for what felt like forever. Theo's senses were frozen in a split second of time where the dog-like Wrecker was looking past his Horror's head and shoulders and saw that the Gamma Waxer rig that he had smashed into D-pieces with TerraBrad had only been partially pasted, as it turned out. The sparking Gamma Waxer stood barely upright on its one last leg, hobbling forward to position its Spectral Greaser cannon downrange, and with it let loose an eldritch blast of energy pointed straight at Baham's back and Theo.

"Get away..!" Theo tried to say, slowly lunging to shove his scaly pet Baham out of the D-beam's path.

Theo had thought he was pretty fast, but Smalls the Medicating Biocover was way faster and more determined, climbing up and leaping its way off of Theo's chest and arms, sacrificing several limbs in getting tangled with Baham's teeth and claws, and then forcefully pushing itself off of Baham's back, directly in the way of the oncoming ghost cannonball.

Smalls the Medicating Biocover exploded in a shower of blue, purple, teal, and pink glistening gobs of fluttering, D-stuttering gibbets that splattered over both Theo and Baham, instantly dousing their small flames, numbing their burns, and cooling their overheated bodies.

Coated in a thick layer of colorful, medicated goop, Theo stared in shock as the crumbling D-formed Gamma rig crumpled over and shattered into a million D-compromised pieces. Time seemed to resume its normal speed.

"Well..." Theo said, adjusting to the new loss of his biocover. "Let's see if we can't pick up some of the pieces here..."

"Also, hey~!" Theo remarked, swiveling his Gamma Bounder towards the Luxe Crucible. "Care to do a little gambling while we work?"

"Concordant Companion, don't fail me now!" Theo exclaimed, rubbing his hands together.

"I mean-" he muttered, suddenly catching himself, "something tells me the C-Companion isn't going to help me count cards or anything. That's probably a little too 'dicey' for them..."

Theo tapped his Dvice and got no reaction from the Companion on the matter of gambling assistance.

"Anyway-" Theo said, shoving a spare air tank in the Luxe Crucible's receptacle, "Just look at all the fun we can be having without Concordant's advice, Baham!"

The Wrecker pulled down on the device's arm-like bar and watched the reels spin and flash.

"Mm - Rats!" Theo spouted, when the wheels slotted into place. "Thanks, Concordant!"

Listen Along: Baba O'Riley - The Who

A 4-Luxe credit stick spat out into the Luxe Crucible's winners' tray with a satisfying *ker-chunk!* and the dog-like Wrecker Theo Reticule did a little butt-wiggling jig in his Gamma Bounder's pilot's seat while Baham the Ground Horror gawped in amazement at the bewildering display of flashing lights and wonderful prizes.

"You liked that, Baham?" Theo asked the horror sitting atop his rig. "Bring the prize to me, won't you? No eat!"

The rig pilot Theo leaned the Gamma Bounder 'TerraBrad' closer to the winners' tray, and the Horror Baham reached an inquisitive claw to fish around inside. Tenderly, it snatched up the credit stick and brought the small token to its mouth to taste it, but it didn't chew or swallow the prize immediately, no. Baham was a good Horror.

"That's right, Baham, now: bring it here." Theo commanded in an authoritative but loving tone.

Baham the gentle ground horror stuck its head inside TerraBrad's cockpit with the 4L credit stick held out lightly in its teeth, and it gave up the potential food no-eat without so much as a single feisty head-shake in defiance. The transaction was completed and Theo mommy had his flashy prize, all because Baham was a good Hoarding Horror.

"Good Horror! I know you're getting hungry..." Theo cooed, and he rubbed his gloved hand along Baham's scaly-but-sensitive snout. "This reminds me: Wreckmastide has just about arrived, and you've been so good lately. If you keep it up, you might just get some special treats coming soon! Wouldn't that be nice?"

Baham blinked its dewy eyes and leaned harder into the scritches it was getting, until its head practically filled up Theo's lap.

"My, you've gotten big, Baham!" Theo professed, and the horror murmured its own name in response.

Despite the death, the flames, the blood, and the carnage all around them, a dog-like Wrecker and mole-like Horror could have a moment where they could find peace - together.

Movement:

Sponsors: Well - - when it rains, it pours! I was not expecting another Wrecker to get rekt quite like that, and quite so soon - that's not great, is it?! Listen Along: Californication - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Once the holiday photographs were done (see prior post in-thread for Theo's Wrecksmastide wishes), the rig-bound canid wrecker named Theo Reticule bid his pet Horror 'Baham' return to their rig's roof, where it could be seated atop the Gamma Bounder 'TerraBrad' so they could set off towards their destination. Theo punched in the most direct course to get to their next waypoint and sat back in his pilot's seat, letting the fragrant scents of the meateor's musky interior rush by to soothe his nerves.

Soon enough, while the Bounder TerraBrad ran along its course, an approaching delivery drone made contact with Theo and his bounding Gamma rig and its popped hatch. The HEALdrone dropped off a particularly heavy-looking Motile Biocover with Theo and injected him with several potent flavors of restorative medication.

"Opal!" Theo announced over the Wrecking Crew streams, suddenly feeling woozy, "Uhm, I'm, uh, going to that place I said I would go to earlier, 'in confidence.' Be either there or somewhere nearby and I should pick you up in my signal range! Theo out."

Theo flicked off his comms and muttered to himself, caught up in a semi-drug-drunk trance.

"Some-body once asked, 'could I spare some change for gas?'" Theo chanted, mesmerized by the music, "'I need to get myself away from this place.' I said, 'Yep, what a concept - I could use a little fuel myself - and we could all use a little change.'"

Theo felt it, all of a sudden, rushing through his system: the years started coming and they didn't stop coming.

Suddenly, Theo was just a boypup - just a little weanling, and he was being taught to always excel, despite his canid disfigurement. He was being forced to be social - to be friendly, to be silent unless spoken to, and to be servile to his elders, and to smile above all, but not to smile so much that he bared his canines to people, which signaled danger in the human brain. Theo felt young and stupid, even more out of place than a normal teen. He knew that his existence was wrong, somehow, and yet...

Despite all his rage, he was still just a dog in a cage.

"S posted:

V[4$Hm0\/7H"]"Somebody once told the world is gonna roll me, I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed. She was lookin kinda dumb with her finger and her thumb in the shape of an 'L' on her forehead..."

Theo contemplated his most recent brain dumping and decided to take the the back streets with his rig instead of the path he'd mapped out earlier.

"Let it be, Theo." Theo said to himself, taking a religious tack from Acolyte. "So say we, oh Great Ones, so let us find us our Salvation."

The doglike Wrecker was feeling sapped by the sticky air around him, as though the dripping digestive juices raining all around him was a poisonous rain.

"All that glitters is gold," Theo reminded himself, averting the desire to shake off the shimmering digestive fluid spraying over his armor and exposed cockpit.

The weight of this space-bound meat-world felt balanced on Theo's back, even more so than before. Less Wreckers alive meant less available to assist with the Zodiac kill, which was all that mattered at the end of a season. Idly, Theo hoped that they'd have enough Wrecker-power to pull it off without serious losses. He'd hate to have it come down to a last-person-standing scenario, like how it shook out with the prior season of Wrecking Crew.

Movement: (unchanged)
> Staying ahead of the 4x Ribbon Skates (currently in 705?) and Mutant Jailer (707?) pursuing him, Theo Jumps 3 hexes with his Gamma Bounder on a path he expects will not interrupted by them (904 -> 905 -> 807 -> 808)!

Sponsors: Hey hey, so I have a brand new friend to protect me, all thanks to you, Magitek Mafia - nice! Cheers and maximosos thankeroonis to you and yours in this corporate nightmare we're all embroiled in, right??? Merry Wreckmastide to all you lads and ladies and loods out there!

Listen Along: Who Let the Dogs Out - Baha Men

In the midst of bounding through the meat mires towards Acolyte's death beacon, a sudden rallying cry burst forth from the speakers equipped on Theo Reticule's Gamma Rig, TerraBrad. It was the anthem of all freed dogs playing on his TuneZEN music stream, and Theo was really digging it, even hooting and howling along with the barking parts in the track. The noxious winds rushed past Theo's canine-like nostrils, and he was thrilled by the sensation. There was a holiday fast-approaching, and Theo was feeling the merriment in the air.

"You smell that, Baham?" Theo called up over the music to his pet Horror Baham, riding atop TerraBrad's roof. "That's the broiled Sliders - we must be getting close!"

TerraBrad bounded around a large fleshy embankment towards the smell of cooked meat when Theo spotted them: within sight of Acolyte's corpse, both Opal Dang-Cobra and the Horrific Wrecker Shines-In-Heaven were squaring off against a pair of Wreckmastide mutants. Theo hailed them both over the comms as he approached their position.

"If that isn't a sight for sore eyes: a pair of lovely ladies to assist!" Theo spoke out as a way of introduction. "Just wish that I could've - Wait LOOK OUT!"

A shimmering rift of D-space suddenly warped into place behind Opal and Shines and a Dimensional Keeper flanked by two Metalurks emerged from the ethereal plane.

"The big purple puff-daddy is mine!" Theo barked, referring to the Dimensional Keeper. "Baham, you do your thing. Incoming!"

Just as Theo charged in to battle, the rig-riding Wrecker's pet Horror leapt off the side of Terrabrad and climbed uphill towards a large, industrial storage unit that had piqued its curiosity.

Away from the fight, Baham the helpful Horror grabbed hold of a large Green Barrel Inc. canister in its jaws and charged through the rest of the green chemical containers, hucking the collections of caustic chemicals and spilling toxic waste everywhere. The entire area below became flooded in poisonous puddles, and Baham the Horror reveled in it all, leaping from puddle to puddle and shaking its favorite barrel about like prey.

"Baham, no!" Theo cried, while stomping the Dimensional Keeper to D-paste with TerraBrad's heavy feet. "You're gonna get everything all sticky and gross! That is mega-Naughty behavior, Baham!"

While Theo was distracted trying to rein in his rampaging reptiloid, the other gathered enemies crept in for their attack.

> FreeENC.OhGodWhy: Theo prays to the Wreckmastide gods above and below that the amount of Naughty tokens gained from one instance of rolling Green Barrels is equal to 1, otherwise he and Baham might be in trouble!
> ENC.MBC: Theo orders the [X:+DR] MBC "Biggs" to save Baham or Theo from lethal damage, or else block the first hit on Theo from a Metalurk or a Grinchler (in that priority)!

Sponsors: Agh, Baham, no! You're gonna get us in trouble with the guys and gals upstairs! Sorry, Magitek Mafia, but there's a good chance I may be losing my MBC here, and so soon after you got it for me, too! I swear, I'm gonna try to be Nice to the next one if Biggs bites it!

Listen Along: Wonder Milky Bitch - Air

At the sight of the three Wreckers' martial prowess, the remaining mutants scattered and took up camp elsewhere, hunkering near Acolyte's death cache. From the seat of his Gamma Bounder, Theo Reticule sighed and shook his head. Baham the Ground Horror was rejoicing in the spill, cavorting around all the caustic chemical-mud it had made of the battlefield, thrilled to have the sizzling meat-wallow full of corpses all to itself. Baham had been SO Naughty, and Theo had been made responsible for the entire Green Barrels spill, but despite that Theo just couldn't stay mad at the crazed critter, especially when it looked so dang happy.

The rig pilot Theo slipped his Gamma Bounder TerraBrad's stuck foot out of the chemical bog with a wet *schlurp* and stamped it down in the muck again with a popping squelch to get his fellow Wreckers' attentions.

"Opal, Ms. Shines-In-Heaven, come and *cough* hop on up onto Terrabrad's back for higher ground." Theo asked of both lady-Wreckers, clearing his throat and stifling the urge to gag from all the noxious fumes in the air. "Er- *Ahem* - I'll take us on a quick spin-around so I can get a good look at what's nearby... I ditched a quad of Ribbon Skates a while back, and they could show up any moment."

Theo waited for the two warrior-women to adjust to this news, and to let the two of them clamber aboard his rig if they so desired. He flicked on his rig's loudspeakers so he could holler at his large animal friend.

"Baham, you stay here and I'll be back!" Theo called out to his carnivorous pet Horror. "Eat anything that looks tasty, just don't make yourself sick!"

The rig-bound Wrecker flicked his comms back on to address both Opal and Shines-In-Heaven.

"Oh, also, my P.W.N.'s saying that some of the chem-bath that Baham spilled got into my vitals... and here I'm skint on medifluid!" Theo cautioned, scratching the back of his neck in a gesture of embarrassment. "Y'think either of you could help me clean up my junk, all medical-like? I'd appreciate it."

The dog-like Wrecker Theo shrugged and smiled. It was a long shot if Theo could get Opal to do anything he'd asked of her directly, but then again the Wreckmastide season was in full swing.

Listen Along: Shine Blockas (Remix) [Ft. Gucci Mane, Bun B & Project Pat] - Big Boi

The rig-bound Junker Theo Reticule winced as the two Wrecker-women in comms range of him heard the voice on his TuneZEN music stream request, "All the ladies say, 'Ho!' - All the hoes say: 'ha- ha- ha- ha.'"

From the extinct designer brands being named off, it was obvious that the rapper's style was a little bit antiquated, even if their words happened to be suitable-enough for the jolly 'hohoho' season known as Wreckmastide.

The dog-faced Wrecker shrugged and gave an abashed, toothy smile at Shines-In-Heaven, who had so benevolently administered a tox-purge to Theo's medical systems while he scanned the region for hostiles. Midway through smiling in a very human fashion, Theo remembered that Horrifics like Shines can get their instincts twigged slightly differently by Theo baring his fangs compared to baseline humans, and so he suddenly endeavored to block his sharp grin behind a raised hand.

"Uh, thanks a bunch-o, Shines-In-Heaven! (Can I call you Shines?)" Theo asked, more furtively. "I really like whatchu got going on with that modded Rockmuncher - you drill like it was mounted to you!"

The naughty dog Theo suddenly thought of a double-entendre and felt some redness appear on his teal cheeks as he denied himself the urge to speak it.

"Er, we gotsa loadsa bogeys on our tails, m'pals, and Nuggets everywhere else b'sides." Theo announced over the comms, to both Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven.

"Here're the scanner deets," Theo said, and he sent out the local map data to them. "I got some plans to lure those incoming Ribbon Skates away, but there's no guarantee they won't stop here instead, along with that Jailer..."

The rig-pilot waited for both the tough-as-nails ladies in his company to mull over their decisions on what to do against the dangers fast approaching them.

"Now, I've got room for more to hang out somewhere atop this rig of mine, along with Baham of course," Theo suggested. "It'll be a max-bumpy ride, but - what say you all we high-tail it out of here?"

Just then, Theo had a eureka moment in his tactical assessments.

"Or - hold up: what if we charge straight at 'em instead?" Theo offered.

The increasingly-anxious dog-man-Wrecker was all ears for any team-oriented suggestions. Something approaching was making him sweat, clearly.

It's basically a standard-supply Assist Flare and a standard-supply Hardlight Decoy that are sold as one item that both get activated at the same time during a fight, all for the low, low price of (14+6=) 20 Luxe! That said, you think you could send me something good here? Saying no is cool too, 'cuz saving up for another backup MBC is fine by me!

Listen Along: The Wizard - Black Sabbath

In the midst of the rankling mists, a moment of silence passed over the group as each of them found themselves stuck on deciding what to do next as a team. Theo Reticule had presented them each with options: flee the Grinchlers, the Metalurk, the Jailer, and the Ribbon Skates together, or charge straight into danger to cut the Ribbon Skates off at the pass before they could get any closer to Acolyte's death beacon, possibly bringing their other pursuers along. Their team's goal was simple on paper but complicated in practice: get the region clear enough of mistlefoes and other assorted fiends so they could lay claim to the precious, rare, and expensive gear that Acolyte had been carrying on them when they were killed by the MCAD Manslayer. The team's available options involved splitting up into different fighting teams or moving all together and possibly committing to a feint maneuver.

The dog-like Wrecker jacked into the custom-clad Gamma Bounder hemmed and hawed for a moment before clearing his throat.

"Tsk-tsk-tsk." Theo clucked, shaking his head ruefully.

There was no helping it: too much time had passed, and their window of opportunity for taking action was quickly shutting.

"Baham," Theo spoke resolutely over his Bounder's loudspeakers, grabbing his pet Horror's attention. "I'm going to hold them off. Protect Opal. Whether she stays or comes along with me, I'll see you real soon."

Without so much as a word of parting to either Opal Dang-Cobra or Shines-In-Heaven, the dog-man Wrecker lurched in his pilot's seat as he compelled his Bounder into a stomping jog towards the Ribbon Skates' last-scanned coordinates.

Movement:
> MOV.Wrecker: In his Gamma Bounder, Theo Jump-charges directly towards the four Ribbon Skates and Mutant Jailer pursuing him, halting them in their tracks (808 -> 708)!
> MOV.Horror: Theo orders Baham the Ground Horror to take the exact same movement orders as Opal Dang-Cobra - Theo will remain within comms range!

Listen Along: Mr. Grieves - Pixies

The gold-trimmed Gamma Bounder with the doglike Wrecker seated inside its exposed cockpit ambled down the fleshy caverns' looping avenues, steadily approaching the busted Air2Air that was flashing warning lights off in the distance. The rig-bound Wrecker named Theophilharmonic Johannes Reticule knew that there were enemies there waiting for him - actively seeking him out, in fact - but Theo was not afraid. Theo was going to take them all on a little chase, perhaps, and when he was done, Opal, Shines, and Baham should have made quick work of the remaining monsters that were keeping them from securing Acolyte's death cache.

"Looks like the Grinchlers didn't follow me," Theo spoke over the comms, updating both Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven on his progress. "It's gonna be hard for the three of you to take on the three of them, but..."

"Good luck." Theo relented. "I'd hate to think of Acolyte's remains falling into mutant hands."

Though he knew it was uncouth to figuratively salivate over the gear of dead Wreckers - especially those he'd known in person - Theo could practically feel the shock-absorbent plasteel grips of Acolyte's I-Driver in his mitts already...

"Opal, don't forget that deal we made," Theo added, "if I can get Acolyte's I-Driver, you can have my Pulse PoundR..."

"Anyway," Theo segued abruptly, "you mind if I jack your Groupie for a hot second?"

Without ample warning, [in 808] Groupie's tinny speakers fritzed out with the sound of Theo's voice competing with Opal's music.

"Baham! It's me! Yes - I'm inside the robot!" Theo spoke over the temporarily hijacked droid's speakers. "You gotta attack whatever I attack, okay Baham?! That's a good Horror!"

Theo remotely clicked off from overriding Groupie's audio stream and spoke to Opal and Shines over the comms again.

"I've got inbound bogeys here - engaging paste-and-chase protocol."

Theo saw them coming his way, just up ahead: a Mutant Jailer and a group of Ribbon Skates looming just withing leaping distance.

"And... Stomp!" Theo declared, as he landed with both his Bounder's feet on top of the Mutant Jailer.

A teeming mass of Ribbon Skates swirled overhead and attacked.

Encounter:
> ENC.Theo: Theo charges with 1 hex of Momentum and the Pilot CS mod! Charge Attack vs Mutant Jailer: 1d8 4 - Critical hit! 3x5= 15 damage dealt to Mutant Jailer!
> ENC.MBC: Theo orders Biggs to Bodyguard Theo against the Mutant Jailer's attack or else block the third Ribbon Skate that would hit Theo!
> ENC.Horror: Theo (must make an attempt, and thus) orders Baham to attack the Metalurk with its 1d14(Aim+Buff)/2 +Break attack!
> Challenge (potentially) Completed: Concordant's: >Cooperative Victory: Two or more Wreckers may complete this challenge by killing an enemy through hitting it in the same round, with no single attack sufficient to kill the enemy on its own.

Wreckmastide: Hope everything is all right! Have a happy horrordays!

Listen Along: The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song - The Flaming Lips

The pack of Ribbon Skates descended upon Theo Reticule and attacked, hunger plain in their simple-minded viciousness. As Theo tried to wave them all off, three of the horrible energy-suckers darted in close and attached themselves to Theo's suit so they could siphon off all of his spare air.

The armed and armored Wrecker flailed his limbs in resistance and tried to prize the flying resource leeches off his pack, but he was having difficulty getting a good enough grip on the slippery sky eels, bloated on air as the were. Theo would try to grab hold of one, and it would thrash and deflate and slip out of Theo's grip and attach itself onto the back of Theo's spacer suit yet again, only this time even further away from his arms' reach.

Eventually, it became apparent to Theo that his efforts to fend off the Ribbon Skates was useless and he started to laugh. There was nothing he could do about removing the skates until they'd had their fill of his air. He watched as his metered air supply tanks reached empty.

"All good back there?" Theo hollered at the parasitic creatures. "That's it: no more! Tanks're empty."

Theo was midway through another bout of laughter when he felt a sharp pain in his backside. Something particularly sucky had just punctured through his armor and was thirstily drawing his blood.

"Okay, that's quite *enough* of that! Dinner's over!" Theo uttered, and he loosened his pilot's restraints a bit so he could lean forward and slam the back of his combat suite against the seat repeatedly, squishing the three Ribbon Skates attached to the rear tanks.

After enough emphatic back-pounding, Theo felt the needles in his side retract as the Ribbon Skates detached from his suit with three distinct slurping pops. The trio of balloon animals wriggled their way back into to sky to evade Theo's wrath and to digest their stolen goods in peace.

"Aw," Theo cooed to himself, watching the space animals retreat after feeding. "They're almost sweet when they're not in a frenzy."

Theo signed onto the comms and hailed Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven:

"Hey ladies... looking alive if not - Shines, are you naked?" Theo's nostrils flared and his pulse quickened as he realized her state of undress in the camfeed, and he muttered, "Must be a molting thing, my B."

"Anyway," Theo resumed, "how did Baham do? Lemme review your fight's footage, first..."

Using his spinal array, Theo rapidly increased the speed at which he could parse all the angles of the combat between Opal, Shines, and Baham and the two Grinchlers and Metalurk.

"Oh, so: if Baham killed something," Theo said in caution, while catching up, "best to let the Horror eat what it killed."

Theo paused for a bit. There was something he wanted to study concerning the footage of the Grinchlers. Where had they come from, exactly?

Action:

Please, Do Listen Along: Ain't - Neil Cicierega

The Director of Sponsorship Affairs at the Wrecker Investments Division of Cosmiq Pharmaware's deepest corner offices cursed to himself from his ergonomic anti-grav chair.

"Jiminy-Crissmiss!" He swore, "And, 'Ah, bumhug!'" he said, staring at the newest holiday-themed Motile Biocover model on his holo-feed.

"That hat is utterly ridiculous!" He decided, a broad frown of displeasure plastered on his face. "I should be asleep right now!"

The ice-cold caffeinated drink in Dr. Skipp Wiley Sr.'s hand rattled with the clink of frozen floating metal cubes. He was working late shift at the office again.

Things were down to the wire, according to the latest feeds. There were only eight Wreckers left on the field: Theo Reticule, Shines-In-Heaven, Opal Dang-Cobra, Vatman Jones, Lonán Murder-Birb, Cyka, Bonny-Anne Elsewhere, and that Hiver Talcum Bee Buzzem that had killed Theo's D-Breaker pal, Dunk Tuggum - all of them were still alive. Meanwhile, fanboy favorite Ned "Slitherin'" Sidious had fallen to his own D-hubris, as had Theo's newest buddy Acolyte - only Acolyte had died for doubting the accuracy of a Mutant Manhunter that was trained in the killing arts of the MCAD particle rifle. Either way, it was no longer looking like a sure thing that the surviving Wreckers on the field of CYST would be able to handle the Zodiac rig Leo with their remaining numbers, and that was a bit worrisome. Dr. Skipp Wiley Sr. had a lot riding on Theo Reticule's fate...

He took a deep pull from his frosty glass, and let out a slight sigh of refreshment.

Regardless of his own personal stake in the Wrecking Crew games, Dr. Wiley had to admit that it was impeccable holovision programming. If he busted in his wagers, that was just the way she goes.

"Say it ain't so," the Director of Sponsorship affairs murmured, when he saw the number of Naughty tokens attributed to the Wrecker Theo, thanks to the dog-boy's pet Horror going rogue. "I knew Magitek never should have gotten him that monster lizard! Junior has the same problem..."

Dr. Wiley suddenly winced, slapped a palm to his forehead, and wiped the hand forcefully down his face. He tried to reestablish his blurry eyes' vision on the holoscreen playing before him.

"He's gone," the man intoned, "she's gone," he moaned, "and she's gone too. Get over it."

The vulnerable human took another swig of the beverage swirling in the glass in his hand and muttered to himself.

"Merry heckin' Wreckmastidings, Skipp old boy, and thank goodness for holiday pay."

He lifted his glass in a toast and upended the contents down his gullet, feeling the disconnect between his thoughts and his cybernetics growing larger by the second, until he finally reached the obliviousness in consciousness he desired. Only a few hours left before the planetary solstice was upon them. Then, Dr. Wiley knew, he could rest.

Listen Along: Riders on the Storm - The Doors

The dog-Wrecker Theo Reticule was on a roll. He was listening to the groovy psychedelic music of his TuneZEN music stream, the pitterpat of bile showers raining down upon his popped cockpit hatch, and the spurting flames of the rekt Air2Air crackling and thundering in the distance. The Ribbon Skates that had attacked Theo so viciously just moments prior had left his vicinity to digest their winnings from his air tanks, precious oxygen reserves which were all but depleted by now.

"Easy come, easy go." Theo remarked, as he watched the seasonal Wreckmastide festivities on his comms readouts rise to a heightened fever-pitch of last-minute activity.

A cheer was tossed out over Theo's speakers as the results came in. Theo was no longer in possession of the most amount of Naughty tokens and no one Wrecker was in the lead for Nice tokens, as far as the Wreckmastide festivities were concerned. Theo could have been the grand prize winner, if only he had not spent two of his hard-earned Nice tokens on removing a Naughty token from both Shines-In-Heaven and Talcum Bee Buzzem each. Theo thought he had been doing a general service for the rest of Wreck-kind when he'd done that, and perhaps he had helped somehow, judging by the sheer number of Wreckers getting things off their wishlists. Despite the spirit of Wreckmastide, it was almost as though this was some altruistic gift-giving-holiday without any ulterior motives or strings attached!

The dog-boy Theo blitzed past the fine print of what he'd signed away to the megacorps in winning his brand new, incoming, stock-charged Hardlight Decoy and his Dvice's auto-scroller stopped at a part pertinent to Magitek Mafia, Theo's exclusive Sponsor. Apparently, the next standard drone sent by Magitek Mafia was going to be wired to explode, and Theo had no inkling if this was effective immediately or retroactively, which was especially concerning considering that Magitek Mafia had ordered a HEALdrone for Theo that had not quite arrived... yet.

"Uhhh..." Theo drawled, hearing the rotors of the delivery drone fast approaching. "Am I in danger?"

Theo smiled with a broad fanged grin. If he was about to get pranked, he needed to give the footagemongers a good show at least, for his own funeral's sake.

"Is this my imminent demise?" Theo said, holding his hand out to the festive, holiday-themed HEALdrone.

A foul moon was on the rise. Theo could smell it: the weirdening was upon them again. Someone had F'd with the D; how fitting.

Movement: (Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven can peek)
> MOV.Theo: In his Gamma Bounder, Theo Jumps two hexes east then jukes southwest back towards Acolyte's death beacon to ditch his Ribbon Skate pursuers and meet up with Baham (708 -> 709 -> 710 -> 809 -> 808)!
> MOV.Horror: Theo orders Baham over the comms to take Aim! Theo will be there soon!

Sponsors: Heyo~! Looks like we did it, Magitek Mafia! The Mafia's votes topped the Wreckmastide charts for 'most interactions,' bar none! What that means is we either have an explosion coming my way right this second, or the next HEAL- or SHOTdrone you ship out using your Luxe will be booby-trapped! So, while I'm excited to see this HEALdrone you ordered for me, I'm a bit nervous about what's going to happen when it arrives!

Listen Along: Oye Como Va - Santana

The delivery drone sent to the Wrecker Theo Reticule by his Sponsor Magitek Mafia unceremoniously deposited a shabbily-wrapped Hardlight Decoy in the rig pilot's lap, hovered just within reach beside Theo's shoulder, and then exploded violently with flames and force. The concussive blast felt like a powerful punch across Theo's whole nose, cheek and jaw and completely knocked his hat off, but thanks to his springy, reactive Bounder cockpit seat and his CS II Suite Armor's kinetic dampening, he was only briefly stunned by the burst and otherwise unharmed.

"Oh wow, what a total shocker!" Theo blared, giddy from the slap of adrenaline and the ringing ears. "I didn't think it was gonna deliver and then go boom!"

He could barely hear himself over his TuneZEN and the humming buzz piercing his eardrums. The dog-boy Wrecker leaned over to retrieve his battered chapeau and placed it back where it belonged: draped over the ear that was ringing the most. He smelled the unpleasant odor of singed hair, and patted down his face and felt his jaw for cuts and bruises. The Wrecker then checked his armor for damage and plucked out a plethora of drone microrotors that were partially embedded in his shoulder pauldron's plating.

"Major vital systems are unchanged..." Theo assessed from his readouts, then squinted as he registered a reminder he read off his Dvice.

"Without my C.S. Suite, my innards could have been jellified from that Wreckmastide jape! I would have been made into a Wreckmas pudding - Live Más! Thanks... Dubhan bespoke armo(u)rs?"

Though he botched the line delivery, he knew the audiosmiths could work with what he'd given the feeds.

"What a world!" Theo muttered, and his pushed his Gamma Bounder TerraBrad onward through the giant meateor's innards.

Theo had a trio of fattened Ribbon Skates he had to lose, and the insatiable things were emerging from the walls for yet another meal.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

While dashing past the Fabric8r in his Gamma Bounder TerraBrad, Theo Reticule could have sworn he'd seen Dunk Tuggum's Lonán Murder-Birb's Gamma Bounder slowly trudging out from the grease marshes towards the site, meaning that the veteran Wrecker Talcum Bee Buzzem wasn't that far behind. Considering Talcum was the one who was credited with the mysterious, sudden, and tragic kill of Dunk Tuggum, Theo didn't want to stop in this area if he could help it. He would, however, extend a warning to both the Wreckers, as an establishment of goodwill.

"Hey again, Lonán! I see you've got that Bounder working out for you." Theo said over the comms, for Lonán Murder-Birb, Talcum Bee Buzzem, Opal Dang-Cobra, and Shines-In-Heaven to hear. "It's Theo. Look: there are three cheeky Ribbon Skates coming on up behind me, and they're going to hit the Fabric8r around the same time that you two do, so watch out!"

At the very least, Theo felt he was on passable peace terms with Lonán the Exo-Wrangler, as he'd given her permission to raid all of Dunk Tuggum's possessions after he'd passed, which included that shiny Gamma Bounder with the Manipul8r arm. The Protean Hiver named Talcum Bee Buzzem, on the other hand - Theo didn't know what Talcum thought of him (if anything) and would rather make good with all other Wreckers than make combat with them.

"Anyway: Opal and Shines and I are gonna be just to the west (808) of you! Let's work together to take on the Zodiac together! Theo out."

As he crested over a meaty hill just outside the Fabric8r's vicinity, Theo spotted Opal Dang-Cobra, Shines-In-Heaven, and his pet horror Baham steeped in combat with the two remaining Grinchlers.

"Don't you know that Wreckmastide has passed?" Theo asked the Grinchlers over his rig's bullhorns. "You two humbugs sticking around is considered in poor taste!"

In his rig TerraBrad, Theo charged the remaining Mistlefoes. Right before he slammed into the leering fiends, they panicked and sunk beneath the ground just as the organic floor sucked itself inward and fell through below. Theo's Bounder leapt over the sinkhole that had suddenly appeared, and he skidded to a stop on the other side of the fleshy pit.

Theo didn't know how it had happened, precisely, but finally the moment had arrived; Theo, Opal, Shines, and Baham would be able to put Acolyte's memories to rest. For that fact alone, Theo was grateful.

Encounter:
> ENC.Theo: Theo charges the Grinchlers in his Bounder just as the floor gives way! Charge Attack vs Grinchler: 1d14 1 - Miss!

Personally I'm blaming Pertinax, as it's right up their alley to try sending me more of their flashy sabotage! The biggest problem was: I didn't get a hit of that healjuice! Listen Along: Acid Rain - Chance the Rapper

While the canid sapien Theo Reticule scooped up another load of toxic meatstuffs from CYST's interior floor using his rig's MM-RATS, the backbeat on Theo's TuneZEN music stream switched to that of a sleepy psychedelic rap.

The dog-boy Theo looked up from his work and noticed that the walls were pulsating, throbbing, and flowing, ripples of green digestive acid shimmering on the undulating organic surface.

Theo was mesmerized midway through burying Acolyte with the help of TerraBrad's equipped machinery, but he was trying to do it with as much reverence as possible. Acolyte was, well, if not a close friend then at least an ally and a kindred spirit, and they died fighting to the end. They had carried many burdens upon their shoulders, burdens that were now up to Theo Reticule, Opal Dang-Cobra, and Shines-In-Heaven to carry. Shines-In-Heaven had found Acolyte's custom Dubhan Aegisys a more-than-suitable replacement for her D-stroyed armor, and Theo had fallen in love with the futuristic I-Driver that Acolyte had been carrying when they died. Theo had noticed that Opal Dang-Cobra wasn't all that interested in taking on much of Acolyte's possessions, but Theo had noticed Opal's eye on his own hammer, the Pulse Poundr "Rusty," and so he'd arranged to swap it to Opal for her old Unbalanced K-Hammer.

"This is something Ra Maximum made for me," Theo had said to Opal Dang-Cobra, when they'd made the trade. "He fixed it up right out in the open while sitting in his cockpit, like there was nothing to it - he was really a masterful Wrecker..."

Theo thought of how most of the allies he'd gained in these Wrecking Crew games had either died or survived and wanted nothing to do with each other. He felt blessed to have Shines-In-Heaven here, to keep the momentum going towards the tactical and the practical. Regardless, Opal clearly didn't want to stay longer than the funeral, Theo could tell.

Theo was hungry, but he wasn't that thirsty. He'd been watching his pet Horror Baham eat meal after meal and still come out hungrier than before. It was almost sickening to watch the voracious-yet-bloated beast, snuffling around Acolyte's corpse. Theo had to put a stop to it before the Horror took things further. He scooped up Acolyte's armorless body in the MM-RATS to protect it from becoming a snack and offered his pet Horror a treat in recompense.

"Baham, here: I've got a treat for you!" Theo declared, and he hurled Opal's old Unbalanced K-Hammer spinning over the creature's head like it was a bone for a dog. "Off you go! Good Horror."

With that potential ordeal averted, Theo resumed the business of burying Acolyte's remains beneath the meateor's meat-floor and paying his due respects to their memory. With all this medicine in him, Theo hoped he didn't get sick.

It might not be much, but you always seemed so optimistic in your faith, like every day was a celebration, and I'll take that feeling with me to my grave, as early as that may be on this giant space meatball called CYST...
Hey, so, Magitek Mafia: I've got enough dough to buy me another Face Krew pizza-pie! Hit me up with that flammable greezy cheezy, yo:

Listen Along: The Music Scene - Blockhead

Through the orange reflective lenses of his scanner-class StunnaShadez, Theo Reticule warily watched the HEALdrone fast approaching their position. He sparked up a celebratory blazestick in Magitek Mafia's honor - if this drone was going to explode like the last one did (Thanks, Pertinax!), then Theo wanted to be ready for it by having pain-killing drugs already present in his system.

"Inbound delivery, ladies," Theo stated over the comms to both Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven, to reassure them of in the inbound radar blip. "S'got a Flare and some feelgood drugs for your friendly neighborhood rig pilot."

With his adept canine-like senses, Theo detected a bit of nervous hesitation on Opal's part in responding to his excitement over getting to pilot a rig while under the influence.

"Don't hash it any, Opal," Theo cut in shortly after. "I'm not going to 'miss our exit' like I did on our last shot around the block - I've got TerraBrad's waypoints locked in already. Just... uh, hold on tight, as usual."

"Lonán, Talcum," Theo spoke, buzzing the two wreckers in on his comms line too. "We're about to set off with the team we've got present. Sending you our flight plans, all pronto-like."

Their intended travel data was quickly sent off, and Theo suddenly felt a lump forming in the back of his throat. It was coming; the Zodiac Rig Leo. Would they be ready for it - a giant cat-machine-meat-monster - with just the five of them? Theo swallowed hard. His mouth was so dry.

Out of those Wreckers not present in Theo's comms range, the Wreckers Vatman Jones, Bonny-Anne Elswhere, and Cyka Blyat hadn't showed up at the Fabric8r in time to team up with them to take on the Zodiac together, and now - in a total upset - Cyka and his armor-piercing railgun were nothing more than Dank Nugget vittles. Meanwhile, Vatman Jones was apparently messing with things Beyond mortal control, too far to the south to be of any help, and Bonny-Anne Elsewhere could be almost anywhere else at this point. Typical for Bonny-Anne, Theo supposed.

The Magitek Mafia-sent HEALdrone had made it to the open cockpit of Theo's rig TerraBrad in good time, and it promptly sprouted arm-tubes with which to deliver potent medicines.

Theo sighed in relief, glad that the seasons of festive annual trickery were no longer at hand.

> In his Pilot-boosted Gamma Bounder, Theo jump-drags Opal Dang-Cobra, Shines-In-Heaven, and Torpid Horror Baham three hexes (808 -> 807 -> 707 -> 605)! [Next round's destination: 202.] Theo also votes for Vatman Jones in secret for Rook's Challenge!

Sponsors: Thanks again, Magitek Mafia, for that quick Assist Flare delivery! We're really doing it this time: I'm currently on my way to the Zodiac Beacon with a pair of lovely ladies riding on my rig! It's truly happening, just like in my dreams! Whoah - I just had a crazy case of déja vu!

Listen Along: Mystery of Madness feat. Czarface - MF DOOM & Nujabes

As his custom Gamma Bounder pounded along the veiny trails, the dog-like Wrecker-pilot Theo Reticule was mesmerized by the flashy banks of holo-neons lighting this foggy region of the meateor from above.

Theo suddenly snapped to attention when he saw a strange cybernetic humanoid figure busy at work, out in the open under the fluttering glow of neon lights straight ahead. The shiny, neutral-flagged cyborg was so close that Theo had to jam on his Bounder TerraBrad's E-brakes just to make sure he didn't paste the helpful individual or lose his passengers in a horrible rigging-under-the-influence accident. Theo didn't want either of those things...

"Brace yourselves!" Theo commanded his two Wrecker rig-riders.

TerraBrad's feet clamped onto the ground-up meat-turf, sliding and skidding into a greasy, stompy stop, until Theo, his rig, and his passengers Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven were sitting squarely face-to-face with the living Autodoctor. According to Theo's scans, the industrious non-hostile cyborg contact had been given the codename-appellate of 'S@wb0n3z ,' and he had been busying himself with the installation of wetware tubes into a large mound of quivering meateor flesh.

"Good Wreckening to you, S@wb0n3z." Theo announced plainly in meatvox, as they were all within earshot of each other. "Got a job or three you can handle in a hot sec? We've got a Zodiac to kill."

Listen Along: Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Tears for Fears

When the TuneZEN's synth-core soundblast from the past hit Theo Reticule's ears, the rig-bound Wrecker was sitting back in his Bounder's cockpit and relaxing under the flickering teal and magenta neon haze of the S@wb0n3z's mobile cyber-operations room. The softly fluttering colors that shifted behind the back of the Autodoc administrator were strangely soothing to Theo, and before he knew it the S@wb0n3z had hooked Theo up to all sorts of supportive medical and cybernetic apparatuses.

"Thankzs, Doc." Theo gushed, starting to feel loopy from the anesthesia building up. "Y'ssaid y'd hook meup witha cyber fr'the Zodiac, yeh?"

The glowing cyborg S@wb0n3z clicked his synthetic tongue, nodded, and flashed an okay sign with his hand along with a jeering smile, a series of gestures which could mean almost anything depending on the cultures and the friendliness of the persons in question. Theo took it to mean that he was in good hands and to relax even further for the cyber-installation procedure, because he was currently drugged up to the point where he was already gonna lose a kidney to the S@wb0n3z if the man really wanted one. Trust was important, and there was no point in panicking over a doctor-drug's come-up: more often then not you've just got to ride it out.

"Good..." Theo murmured, suddenly drawing a blank. "Wait..."

In a drunken stupor, the dog-boy suddenly attempted to sit up in his seat. He fumbled with his kit supplies inside his cockpit, loaded an Assist Flare into his cranial launcher, and then let it rip, aiming for the meateor's cavern ceilings far above. On his CS Suite, Theo's Flare Lens blazed with an ultraviolet light, and the S@wb0n3z stepped back for a moment to appreciate the fireworks.

"For good luck," Theo managed, smiling briefly as he passed into a temporary non-lucid state.

Action:
> FreeACT.Junker: Theo Boost-salvages with TerraBrad's MM-RATS for 2 Scrap (23 -> 25$) and makes two (thanks to Boost) lootrolls to attempt to scoop up a Quantum Pancreas from... the meateor?
> FreeANY.Flare: Theo launches a Face Krew Assist Flare to help with his team's new Cybernetic Augmentation installations and/or his Horror's Molt!
> FullACT.Theo: Theo pays 5 Scrap to S@wb0nez for one random Cyber Aug (25 -> 20$)! Cyber Roll: 1d20 16 - Theo gains cyber Rail Loader [LVL1]!
> ACT.Horror: Torpid Horror Baham cannot act due to molting! Theo hopes Baham molts into something harder, stronger, and faster (in that order of preference), and perhaps a bit spookier too!
> ACT.MBC: Take a nap. You've earned it!

Sponsors: Wow - what a lucky find this was; securing the S@wb0n3z' location right before the Zodiac fight! My late allies Ra Maximum and Dunk Tuggum are probably viewing this moment from their places in the great void Beyond with a little bit of pride in their ethereal hearts! Magitek Mafia, do you think your wizards could send a message from me to them, wherever they might be? "Almost there. Thanks." is what I'd have it say.

"No, no more Amontillado Kayque," Dr. Wiley professed, bidding the servbot to stop serving him more sweetbreads and icing. "Any more and I'll simply pop!"

It was true. According to his high-clearance Cosmiq Pharmaware Personal Wellness Network (with CyberPopsSky Shiftskin), if Dr. Skipp Wiley Sr. ingested any more of the delectable foodstuff being auto-served to him by the complicit remote Servbot account then he would likely suffer a gastrointestinal rupture and experience incredible intestinal pain for days, weeks, or even months to come.

"Who's putting you up to this?" Dr. Wiley inquired of the servbot and those tuned into his comms call, suddenly expecting a trap as his breathing became more labored due to the expanding cake's chemical recipe. "I'm not just some Cosmiq medical grunt, you know..."

"I'm Skipp Atomos Wiley, dangit. My son-" Dr. Wiley started, but then he burped and his voice became choked up from the thick, cement-like pastry reentering his gullet.

"My son is still out there," he swallowed back desperately, "fighting our family enemies," he rasped. "He... will... kill... whoever messes with me..."

A bready blockage in Dr. Wiley's throat suddenly cleared, allowing the greying man to quickly down the icy dregs of a drink powered by a creamy, fortified liqueur. Finally, Dr. Wiley could breathe again. The red-bearded corporate warrior gasped for stale recycled air.

"Theo Reticule will see to my revenge!" The man shouted in desperation from his desk's camfeed, "Mark my words!"

He gagged.

"I have to go." Dr. Wiley managed, when the panic of choking to death on cake had finally started passing. "Wiley out."

Despite the constant feeling of his throat constricting as though it was being squeezed by icy, uncaring hands, Dr. Wiley would pass the test of the Amontillado Kayque mostly unscathed.

Listen Along: Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones

After bidding his farewells to the friendly neighborhood cyber-merchant, the scrap-laden Junker named Theo Reticule steered his Gamma Bounder carrying Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven onward, its metal feat beating a path towards the large grease swamp stretching far to the north. Their destination was the Zodiac Beacon. It was so close now, Theo could almost smell it.

Aside from his brand new cyber augmentation, the dog-boy Wrecker wasn't coming unprepared. For backup, the Wrecker had his Torpid Horror Baham encased in ground meateor turf and strapped to the aft of his rig so that the giant lizard could molt and grow stronger in relative peace. Theo hoped that it wouldn't be too much longer before Baham the Horror was in a condition to fight once again, hopefully with a clean bill of health. According to Theo's pet-scan bioreadouts, the terrible lizard had eaten some rather questionable foodstuffs of late, including something from when Theo wasn't around to prevent it from going down Baham's gullet.

The dog-boy Wrecker was distracted from thoughts of his pet by the smell of grease fires filling his nostrils. Flames were burning everywhere across the great grease marshes surrounding the rig TerraBrad, and its pilot Theo was doing his best to avoid their heat, for his passengers' sake. It smelled so good, though, which was part of the reason why Theo wasn't too afraid to charge his overclocked Gamma Bounder straight through several vision-obscuring clouds of billowing smoke. After all, the most important thing was that Theo's rig stayed ahead of the flames and and continued moving forward so his rig's feet didn't get stuck in a grease trap. In a Bounder like TerraBrad, that was thankfully easy to do.

Theo was reminded at this moment of the time that he and Ra Maximum had ridden on the back of Bonny-Anne Elsewhere's Gamma Enforcer to cross a similar grease lake to the Rig Silo, and he became wistful.

"Riding okay, ladies?" Theo asked over the comms of Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven, both of whom were clutching tight to TerraBrad's roof grips. "Not too hot? Good. I'm gonna punch up the speed a bit, beat this heat behind us."

Theo cranked up TerraBrad's power a smidgen to compensate for the momentum loss being caused by the greasy grounds below. If he could have spent more power, he would have, but his rig's spare access battery was already bottoming out as it was. The dog-boy rig pilot with the open hatch fumbled around inside his pack and fetched yet another Assist Flare from his emergency supplies. Strange - he thought he'd had three flares not too long ago... oh well.

"All right - this one's for Ra Maximum!" Theo announced, and he launched the Assist Flare from the cannon mounted in his forehead.

Nothing happened... at first. Theo felt the de-cursed hat of Ra's upon his head feel somehow lighter, more rarified.

Movement: (Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven can peek)
> In his Pilot-boosted Gamma Bounder, Theo Power-Jump-Drags Opal Dang-Cobra, Shines-In-Heaven, and Torpid Horror Baham four hexes across the great grease lake (1 -> 0/3 RigPower, 605 -> 504 -> 404 -> 303 -> 202)!

> Challenge Completed: Slüus™'s: >Too Slow: Use an Assist Flare in MOV.
> Challenge Tri-pleted: Magitek Mafia's: > First Past The Post - Enter or pass through Hexes 403/404.

Sponsors: That implantation operation went exceedingly well, I'd say! The S@wb0n3z really hooked me up with something primo, didn't he? Uh... In your professional opinion, do you think we're ready for the Zodiac, truly? There's only one way to find out, I guess, and that's by barreling in guns first into the lion's den. At least I won't be alone for the big fight!

"Oh, a 'Dead Wreckening' is what's going down?" Dr. Skipp Wiley Sr. spouted off at the holovision, scratching at the back of his head and kicking an empty alcopop can off his desk unceremoniously with an outstretched foot.

"You see this?" He offered to no one, a hand outstretched incredulously to the glowing three-dimensional display. "Surely, it can't be that time already?"

"Why of course it can, and don't call me Shirley," the lone man repeated to himself, basically babbling nonsense.

Dr. Wiley's frown worsened into a bitter pout. The last time they'd seen undead Wrecker revenants was when they'd taken things to the moon for TOMB, and that was an unmitigated disaster. Yukmargins for Wrecking Crew had never been higher in Decree history.

Booting up his arcane messenger Dvice, the Director of Sponsorship Affairs at Cosmiq Pharmaware's Wrecker Investements Division sent a quick missive to the dog-boy Wrecker he'd been responsible for entering onto the show, a special person who Dr. Wiley's future was inextricably tied to...

Dr. Wiley's Note to Theo posted:

Theo -

We here at Cosmiq are so proud of you and all your progress! You're the big dog on campus in your first season, or so we've heard. You've stumbled and fallen a couple times, haven't you, but you've pulled yourself back up onto your feet and continued fighting, isn't that right? If I could send you something from Cosmiq's personal coffers, Theo, I would, but instead I'm held back by so much Decree red tape. I hope you understand!

What can I say, other than, "seize the day," "break a leg," and "make mine a mint"? We're all counting on you to make all our dreams come true.

- Skipp Wiley Sr.

He had no idea if a supportive pep speech just before the big fight was effective sponsoring or not, but Dr. Wiley was willing to try anything once.

Listen Along: Choose Your Own Adventure (ft. Emily Bruce) - Goldfish

Right as Theo Reticule was waiting for the Assist Flare he'd fired off in Ra Maximum's honor to do something special, a delivery drone sent from the Slüus™ soft drink corporation suddenly pinged his sensors. A flying machine had appeared in Theo's scanners somewhere over the grease lakes further up ahead.

"Huh-whuh?" Theo queried, performing an exaggerated double-take on his comm's cameras to punch up his own surprise. "A drone, eh? Now what could that be holding..?"

When Theo had brought his rig TerraBrad in close enough, the SHOTdrone with the important parcel swooped down inside Theo's open cockpit and deposited its sponsor-sent payload onto the Wrecker's lap.

"Why, another Assist Flare, just for me?" Theo asked, reading off the package's attached labels. "And from Slüus™, no less? How totes wrecktastic!"

While he was enjoying the attention from a Sponsor he wasn't in an Exclusive Wrecking contract with, Theo didn't want to milk the moment so much that it felt to his teammates Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven that he was gloating over them. Instead, he really just wanted to let those at Slüus™ know that their contribution to further any future Face Krew appearances were duly noted and wholly appreciated.

"That's Slüus™ for ya: Open the Gates, and unleash the beast within!" Theo said, and he smiled a broad grin and flashed a thumbs-up for the cameras.

"Onward!" Theo ordered at last when he knew he'd given the camfeeds a good angle, and he jammed on his overclocked rig's controls to put it at its top speed for the grease-slicked terrain.

They were almost across the grease lake, where the Zodiac beacon awaited their touch. Theo hoped that his passengers wouldn't be too tired from traveling to fight whatever they found on the other side.

Movement: (Unchanged) (Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven can peek)
> In his Pilot-boosted Gamma Bounder, Theo Power-Jump-Drags Opal Dang-Cobra, Shines-In-Heaven, and Torpid Horror Baham four hexes across the great grease lake (1 -> 0/3 RigPower, 605 -> 504 -> 404 -> 303 -> 202)!
> FreeANY.Flare: Theo launches a Face Krew assist flare in MOV, marking his location(s)! He hopes the Face Krew will help him move his rig 1 more hex (to 102) or else will help Theo assault or evade his group's landing zone!
> Challenge Completed: Slüus™'s: >Too Slow: Use an Assist Flare in MOV.
> Challenge Tri-pleted: Magitek Mafia's: > First Past The Post - Enter or pass through Hexes 403/404.

Sponsors: Thanks again, Slüus™! You really gave me the inspiration to use that Assist Flare for Ra Maximum just now! I sure hope all this effort helps us prepare for the Zodiac! I am going to have to pound so many Slüus™ cans when I get home after this - frankly, I'm looking forward to it!

Listen Along: My Sweet Lord - George Harrison

Despite the gushing grease swamps underfoot, the Gamma Bounder 'TerraBrad' piloted by the Junker Theo Reticule continued pounding its gold-trimmed feet over the sucking marshy terrain with its inexorable rig power. Though Theo hadn't said anything about it to his passengers, he knew that something strange was afoot: according to the calculations that he'd thoroughly cross-checked with the area's map, there was no way in the Solar Decree that the four of them (being Theo Reticule, his pet Horror Baham, and his Wrecker teammates Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven) should have made such good time riding the Gamma Bounder TerraBrad across the grease lake, and yet...

According to his Spinal Array's regional scans, Theo and his allies were almost already at the Zodiac Beacon.

This was not supposed to be possible, according to the laws of rigging, motion, and physics. It was almost as if there was a little bit of Wreckmastide magic still lingering on the air, making sure special payloads made it to their intended recipients on time...

The mystery unfurled before Theo, with no answers in sight. The dog-boy's desire to know more intensified.

Up ahead lurked a small band of skulking mutants, who were intentionally hanging out near the large dais that housed the Zodiac Beacon. Theo saw that a Mutant Jailer was distracted, busily engaged in the act of arresting a Nugget and stuffing the screeching creature inside its body.

"gently caress tha po-leece." Theo shouted as his Gamma Bounder stomped down, landing right next to the startled, Nugget-swollen mutant.

TerraBrad punted the Mutant Jailer so hard it bounced off the meateor's back wall and rolled to a dead stop on the Beacon's dais.

Encounter:
> ENC.Theo: Theo charges (with Pilot and 5 hexes of Momentum)! Charge Attack vs Mutant Jailer: 1d16 9 - Hit! 3x5 = 15 damage to Mutant Jailer!
> ENC.Horror: Torpid Horror Baham is molting and cannot act!
> ENC.MBC: Theo orders Biggs the [X: +DR] MBC to Bodyguard against hits from the Manburglars!

Sponsors: All right, we are here at the Beacon and bringing the heat, all thanks to that flare's mystical power! Magitek Mafia and Slüus™, hear my mighty summons: Hallelujah!
Er, Magitek Mafia, once we have enough scratch to make it work, I'm gonna need you to send me some things on a very special experimental drone... Praise be!

Listen Along: Let It Happen (Soulwax Remix) - Tame Impala

There she was, rapping at the world, full on-fleek fronting and stunting and not a care in the universe. Opal Dang-Cobra was gracing Theo Reticule's screens, yo, and Theo could tell that she was wrecking it - selling that company scrip like her daddy owned the joint. Homegirl was making a scene on the set of the Zodaic Beacon's dais, and Theo Reticule, Shines-In-Heaven, and his rig TerraBrad had the front-row seats to her popping off straight-shot fire.

The music-streaming Wrecker Theo spent a second experiencing some whooshing vertigo as he realized how many people were probably watching him (and his TuneZEN) and watching Opal through his and Shines' cams, and he endured the sensation of blood rising to his face. The dog-like Junker could feel it, building up around him and the dais surrounding the Zodiac Beacon: it was like the calm before the storm. Everyone could sense it: that it was about to get much, much worse. Theo could smell it on them, on Opal and Shines and Baham too: panic bubbling just underneath the surface. It was coming. Theo's spinal array was detecting clusters of preparatory activity in the meateor's nervous system, releasing anticipatory signals and pheromone mists over the scene, but the dog-like Wrecker tried largely to ignore it. Whatever the show's producers had planned for this particular Zodiac showdown, Theo would just have to wait and see.

"C'mon, c'mon..." Theo muttered, holding his finger on the cockpit's [Hatch-Close] button and really leaning on it.

TerraBrad was operating at tip-top function but sometimes it felt to Theo like something had gotten seriously jammed in the Gamma Rig's cockpit-closing device. Nonetheless, it made for an almost comedic moment, like a person slowly rolling up their automobile window millimetres per second upon seeing a pedestrian begin to physically confront a policeman with a flamezooka.

"Ah, right," Theo mumbled with his comms off so as not to interrupt Opal's rap. "Lemme just - only one left? Oh well."

The Wrecker with the reinforced Spinal Array, the fully integrated Rail Loader, and the forehead-mounted Flare Cannon: he loaded up yet another Assist Flare into his forehead launcher's tubular receptacle.

"Best not be holding on to these..." Theo remarked, screwing the Assist Flare into place until he felt the click from deep inside his cranium. "End of the world is coming."

"It's gonna feel so good," he said, and he pulled the trigger on his Assist Flare's release right when Opal Dang-Cobra slammed on the [Summon Zodiac Rig] button.

Action:
> FreeACT.Swap: Theo swaps 1x Hardlight Decoy to Shines-In-Heaven, setting up the following challenge for completion during a later round:
> Challenge Initiated with Hardlight Decoy Swap: Diamond IAMC's >A Bullet For My Valen-Shines: Intercept any attack made for Shines-In-Heaven.
> Scrap.Check: Theo was at 23$ last round, salvaged for 2$, and paid 5$ to the S@wb0n3z, so his belt card should show 20$ now - thanks!
> FreeANY.Flare: Theo launches a Face Krew Assist Flare to help his team with preparations for the inbound Zodiac, which may include boosting his Horror's Molt even further!
> ACT.Horror: Torpid Horror Baham cannot act due to molting (with Face Krew's guidance during last round's ACT and possibly this one too)! Theo hopes Baham molts into something harder, stronger, and faster (in that order of preference), and perhaps a bit spookier too!
> FullACT.Theo: Theo closes his rig TerraBrad's cockpit hatch!

Sponsors: It's here, it's finally here: the mother-funkin' Zodiac rig, Leo! Uh... is it still safe enough for us to say, "Who's a big Mr. Kitty?" yet?" I'm, like, so excited, but at the same time super nervous, so send me a good luck charm or something sometime soon, you guys! Things I will probably want soon, in order of preference: Assist Flare, Port-A-Luxe, and Hardlight Decoy!

Listen Along: Hold the Line (feat. Santigold & Mr.Lexx) - Major Lazer

The lone, large, lion-like Zodiac rig Leo loped languidly across the meandering, methane-fogged meat mires, bounding inexorably forward towards Theo Reticule, his rig TerraBrad, and his Wrecker crewmates Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven. All three of the Wreckers present were temporarily gobsmacked by what their data feeds were showing them about the massive rig-beast. Leo's combat specs made it very nearly insurmountable... though it was - conveniently enough - mountable by a determined-enough rig-Wrecker.

Over various securitec comms bands, Theo, Opal, and Shines conferred with each other in encrypted messages until they had a plan formulated - one that appealed to their various strengths in combat. Being the only Wrecker inside a rig meant that Theo had nowhere to hide from Leo, and was basically going to be the primary target of Leo's attacks whether he wanted this honor or not. He braced himself for trouble.

Notifications of impending danger insistently blared across TerraBrad's displays, and the rig suddenly lurched as the molting Horror strapped to the back of the gamma rig burst free from its earthen cocoon and dropped to the soft floor already standing on its hind legs.

"BA-HAMMER!" The fully-grown Horror bellowed, revealing its full name. "Gra-Ba-Bah... Bahammer~!"

"Perfect timing, Bahammer!" Theo cheered over his rig's bullhorns. "As you can see, we've got a big ol' kitty-cat to quell!"

The hammer-headed Horror Bahammer rubbed some skin free from its eyes and noticed the approaching Zodiac rig. He - for Theo could finally tell that Bahammer was a he - performed an aggressive Horror display and let out an instinctive snarl of territorial ire.

"Now, don't charge yet!" Theo said to Baham in a commanding tone.

"Hold the line." Theo said to Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven too, both of whom were trying to hide behind outcroppings of bone to various degrees of success. "Bahammer and I will draw Leo closer~"

In his custom Gamma bounder, Theo began to walk slowly away from Leo in a feint. His large pet horror Bahammer stayed close by to the rig, keeping pace with the bipedal machine.

"Here, kitty-kitty-kitty," Theo taunted over his rig's loudspeakers. "I gotta little bit of the 'nip for you...!"

While walking the rig backwards, the Junker-pilot Theo locked TerraBrad's armaments into pointing downrange where he expected Leo to leap at him from.

Movement: (Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven can peek)
> MOV.Theo: Theo takes Aim with his hatch shut! His Gamma Bounder receives +1 Burn!
> MOV.Horror: Theo orders Bahammer to take Aim!

Sponsors: Wow - this sure looks like one tough kitty-cat who won't allow transactions between a Wrecker and his or her rightful Sponsors - the nerve! We'll just have to wait for when Leo's guard is lowered to ask for a resupply from some heavy-duty DROPdrone or something...
Still - Magitek Mafia - don't forget to make a corporate statement using your eminent presence soon - we could really use the boost in morale!

Deep in his cups in his corner office of the Cosmiq Pharmaware corpo-stack, Dr. Skipp Wiley Sr. drummed his stylus pen on a desk along with the rhythm of Opal Dang-Cobra's Wrecker-rap session, which was set to music played from the Wrecker's hacked Purifier drone.

"Atta girl..." Dr. Wiley approved, bopping his head arrhythmically to the beats. "Send it away!"

Finally, the button on the holo-screen feed was pushed - the magic plunger plunged - and the Zodiac rig Leo slowly arrived on the scene with much dramatic fanfare.

Dr. Skipp Wiley Sr. - the Director of Sponsorship Affairs at the Wrecker Investments Division of Cosmiq Pharmaware - stood up from his desk at Leo's entrance, with a mug in his hand of something chilled with cocoa truffle liqueur and dare-E milk that had left a ring of foam on his upper lip and mustache.

"Oh. Oho, so - there he is: the meaty biotitan Leo..." Dr. Wiley managed to state, upon the apparition of the giant construct of meat and metal filling up his holo-feed. "I'd always wondered what Calorie Court's take on gene-splicing was, and here were have our answer: a perfect example of chimerism found in ... er, bio-rig- ...ology."

Dr. Wiley took another deep swig, and clicked his tongue against his teeth as he shook his head slightly. He glanced down at his desk's console, where a bevy of statistics on Leo's combat capabilities (with accompanying graphics and field demonstrations) were waiting for his hungry eyes. With a resigned sigh he plopped his saggy seat into the springy anti-grav office chair waiting just behind him and bid that it scoot him closer to his worktable's console. He grabbed a stylus and swiped away a couple of alerts so he could read the fine print on what this Leo fight would ultimately entail for the Wreckers.

"Crap." Dr. Wiley said, his eyes scanning reams of various Leo materials in a semi-drunken state. "Crap, crap, crap. Crap."

He selected each body part on the interactive display and watched the associated videos of Leo attacking gamma rigs with those body parts, one after another.

"Ho-lee crap, no... what is this crapola? Oh, crap! Crappity crap-crap crappinson. Crap in a crapbasket, oh, this is just crappin' craptastic," he oathed in rapid succession.

This crap cannot stand... it's crap - all crap! Straight to high heaven!" Dr. Wiley admitted to no one at all. "Crap on this... crap. I gotta call my broker."

After dismissing several more console alerts, Dr. Wiley accessed his securidex and brought up the contact info of the man controlling his bets over at Magitek Mafia...'s out-of-state affiliate. He had some wagers to shuffle around.

Listen Along: Mortal Kombat (Techno Syndrome Mix) - The Immortals

There was a flurry of movement as Opal Dang-Cobra and Shines-In-Heaven both advanced on the Zodiac rig Leo and began to make progress rapidly climbing up its legs, largely unnoticed by the massive synth-beast until it was far too late. Leo was heavily focused on Theo Reticule in his Gamma Bounder TerraBrad, so much so that it didn't pay attention to the two Wreckers busy lighting up its flank at first, but when it did take heed of them...

Once Opal and Shines had climbed high enough to trigger the rig's security systems, the massive Zodiac rig Leo suddenly began charging at Theo, Terrabrad, and Baham with unstoppable momentum. TerraBrad was practically bowled over in Leo's swift passage, but the giant bio-rig simply bounded over the Gamma rig and its owner's pet instead.

Suddenly, Theo and his massive Sphyrnid Horror Bahammer found themselves squaring off against nothing else other than a lone Mutant Manburglar.

"Uh... Test your might, Bahammer." Theo entertained, bidding Bahammer take the stage of mortal combat against the solitary mutated monster.

Encounter:
> ENC.Rig: Theo's rig hatch is shut!
> ENC.Horror: Theo orders Bahammer to attack (with +1 Buff and +Aim)! Bahammer vs Mutant Manburglar: 1d14 13 - Hit! 4 +Break damage to Mutant Manburglar!
> ENC.Theo: Theo Boosts! Excellent!

Sponsors: Aw shiv, man. I missed my shot at the Zodiac kill this map, didn't I? Well~! It's been a real one, in fact... It's been: one week since you looked at me, cocked your head to the side and said, "I'm angry." Five days since you laughed at me, saying, "Get that together, come back and see me." Three days since the living room. I realize it's all my fault, but couldn't tell you. Yesterday, you'd forgiven me, but it'll still be two days 'til I say, "I'm sorry..."

Listen Along: Books of War - OMEGAH RED feat. MF DOOM and RZA

Flagrant, fragrant winds ripped through the meateor's internal caverns, whipping past the Gamma rig containing Theo Reticule and tickling the dog-boy's nose as he breathed in the last of the dwindling, dank scents made by the massive meat savannas encircling him, his rig, his pet Horror, and the Zodiac Beacon's dais. The susurrus of internal organelles, fleshily flapping and fluttering in the torrential breeze of the meateor's last desperate eruptions of air, was almost beautiful to behold. The TuneZEN music stream took on a particularly wistful melody over the hip-hop backbeat, and it made Theo begin to wax philosophical.

The young wrecker's hand reached for the space on the top of his head and grabbed firmly onto something material that was given its value simply by virtue being close to another Wrecker - if he had not been not a hero, then at least he had been one who'd survived impossible odds, and had lived to Wreck again. It was only simple cloth, but it had held such a weight before, and now it was like there was almost nothing there...

He'd died, right in front of Theo's eyes, along with so many others. Dunk and Acolyte hadn't made it, either. Cyka Blyat had gotten splatted, Ned spaghettified. Vatman Jones had taken a Beta Broiler south towards the Anomaly, was hit by an Airstrike and hadn't been heard from since. Wreckers were falling, did fall, would keep falling, left and right, and it would keep happening so long as there was a yearning for it. Theo yearned - he yearned to succeed, and do what no Wrecker had yet done before. He wanted to kill a zodiac all by himself, without a store-bought Coffin Nail... and to put a stop to all of this.

The meateor's gates to the great void of the space had been opened. The cosmos beckoned, yawning wide, and Theo didn't want to be sent out there... not yet, at least.

According to the results coming in from the combat database, none of the Wreckers had gotten rekt in round one with Leo, but it had been a close thing going. Theo's presence was immanently needed.

Using his rig's Magitek Mafia Resource Acquisition Tooled Skimmer, Theo scooped up the killer mutant-cop's corpse and set the blender to 'Evidence Grinder.' TerraBrad needed her gogo-juice.

From the seat of his close rig cockpit, Theo frowned as he noticed the first tremors of the incoming peristalsis wave.

Action:
> FreeACT.Consume: Theo recharges his belt's Air tokens with his Oxycan (0 -> 3/3 Air)!
> FreeACT.Junker: Using TerraBrad's MM-RATS, Theo salvages for +2 Scrap (20 -> 22$) and uses his Boost from ENC to convert the corpse of a Mutant Jailer (killed last round) into +2 RigPower (0 -> 2/3 RigPower)!
> FullACT.Theo: Theo tight-scans the Zodiac rig Leo (picking H3, if tight-scanning this part is needed to counteract its Ambush, otherwise I'd like to know more about H1, please!) in 303 and broadcasts the information for all to see (Bad Gas! 3 -> 2/3 Air)!
> ACT.Horror: Theo orders Bahammer the Sphyrnid Horror to Hunker On Theo's Gamma Bounder so they don't get separated! If that's not a valid order, please have Bahammer cannibalize a Mutant Manburglar for +1 Buff and hope we don't get separated!

Sponsors: Hey - so, sorry about my feed getting hijacked like did last time - I was a little over-fussed and non-plussed over missing the big fight and needed to cool off something fierce! Anyway, I'm thinkin' we get one (or two) more Assist Flare(s) going for the final showdown!? Before you file any orders, Magitek Mafia, let's just wait and see what happens with his incoming wave of intestinal torsion!

Listen Along: Heroes (Aphex Twin Remix) - Philip Glass & David Bowie

In the midst of the torrential winds blasting out all the bad gas from the core of the fleshy meateor's airsacs, the custom black-and-gold Gamma Bounder named 'TerraBrad,' the one bearing the Junker Theo Reticule and his pet Horror Bahammer, it stomped along the flesh-lined, wind-whipped avenues with so many sickening squishing noises, trying to find the Zodiac rig Leo's current position. Grease pits threatened to overwhelm his rig's every squelching step with sinking suction, but Theo and his overclocked rig were not dissuaded at all - Theo kept moving deeper into the burning grease swamps and further towards imminent danger, only picking up speed in his racing Bounder. The scan-savvy dog-like Wrecker had gotten the latest details on Leo's sneakiest surprises, combat tricks that it had been keeping in store until this very last moment. Leo's tertiary snake head - deadly as it was - was no match for Theo's advanced pattern processors!

Theo knew that they could beat the Zodiac rig Leo soon, if they really pressed it hard. Together, they could be heroes. Theo could see through the plans of Leo's snake-in-the-rear end, for now at least, and he was on his way to punish that bad chimerical cat. Theo only hoped that his Horror-pet Bahammer would likewise be protected from Leo's snapping tail, so long as he approached the fight from the right angle...

The rowdy rig-pilot Theo thought about all the mistakes he'd made in his life to get himself to this point, and then he reasoned that at the very least none of the Wreckers had yet died to Leo thanks to his absence in the last Zodiac clash. Nonetheless, he still wished that he could preserve this moment forever in time: the rushing calm before the storm, where being a hero was immanently possible, and nothing but motile biocovers and Meaty Sliders had fallen in Leo's wake...

Theo glanced around his rig as the fleshy caverns and grease marshes rippled and splashed about from all the tumultuous gases evacuating the ruptured bowels of the meateor, and he realized that the storm was already here. The meateor CYST was dying, and if they didn't kill Leo soon they were going to get swept away into space in the meateor's death throes.

There was only one way Theo was going to make it off this meateor alive, and that would be by risking the things he cherished most: his rig TerraBrad, his pet Horror Bahammer, and his life, as Theophilharmonic Johannes Reticule, Junker-dog extraordinaire. There was no way he could guarantee that any of these things would remain when all was said and done here today.

It simply didn't matter any more - whatever happened, it would be glorious, and the knowledge that so many eyes were on them and rooting for them made whatever happened liberating.

"If the end is nigh, and the end is near, it's high time we gave ourselves one last cheer." Theo rumbled to the cameras, reciting a schoolyard chant. "Magitek Mafia, would you do me the honor of sending me one last Assist Flare?"

The dog-boy Wrecker flashed a toothy grin and blew a kiss to a camera in his cockpit.

"Thanks. It's for a friend."

Movement: (Everyone but Vatman Jones can peek)
> Power Move! In his Gamma Bounder TerraBrad, Theo Jumps (with Horror retainer Bahammer along for the ride!) five hexes to circle around and arrive where the Zodiac Leo has set its Ambush, interrupting it if it tries to leave its ambush site (102 -> 202 -> 201 -> 302 -> 404 -> 303)!
> Challenge (Potentially) Completed: Magitek Mafia's: Get In There Already! - Move into the same hex as LEO. (Cannot already be in the same hex as LEO, wise guy.)

Sponsors: Well... this is my last chance for a safe delivery, isn't it? Um, I guess I should go for one last Assist Flare, yeah? Out of all the members of Face Krew, I don't think we've seen any signs of Ra Maximum yet, have we? He's... well... I'd like to see him at least one more time before this all goes down... Please send me the following, Magitek Mafia:

Listen Along: Dashboard - Modest Mouse

Gastric acids licked at TerraBrad's chassis and flecked at the vision panels of the custom Gamma Bounder's cockpit where the dog-like Wrecker Theo Reticule was seated semi-safely inside. The radical rookie Junker was on his way to destroy the Zodiac rig LEO, and he was already running late. Windswept grease splattered and sprayed the rig's cameras and gave everything a blurry aura-like sheen, which only added to the fantastical nature of Theo's quest to kill the gigantic cyborg chimera at his destination. Theo tapped his toes to the beat of the TuneZEN stream, which oddly enough seemed to keep a good pace with TerraBrad's leaping steps.

According to Theo's wreckfeed updates, Opal's Coffin Nail had been a huge success, but the rap artist queen had been knocked off the Zodiac's backside and into the grease swamp by Leo's tail fletchettes. LEO withdrew shortly after and so Opal got a chance to trade her hacked Purifier tech 'Groupie' for what appeared to be a Gamma Bounder with a Manipul8r arm - Dunk Tuggum's rig, of all things. During that time, however, LEO had managed to restore defensive power to its core's main shields by devouring one of the Meaty Sliders that had recently been killed in the area. It wasn't looking stellar for the living wreckers, but at least no one was dead at the moment. If only Theo had been there for the alpha strike...

Theo's thoughts were interrupted by the appearance of not one, or two, but three delivery drones on his scanners, with trajectories placed along his rig's path. They were hailing TerraBrad on official Wrecking Crew frequencies to get the rig to pop its side hatch so Theo could accept their inbound parcels and services.

"Wowza!" Theo exclaimed, as the first delivery drone dropped off a precious assist flare through his rig's side hatch and hooked up a medical cable to Theo's suit. "That was fast, Magitek Mafia!"

The model of delivery drone was a BUFFdrone, and it injected Theo will all kinds of feelgood combat drugs.

"Magic beanz - again?!" Theo burbled. "You just couldn't help yourself, could you, Magitek..."

It became apparent to Theo somewhere between the second and third delivery that the remaining two drones were both medical-grade HEALdrones, and that he was being injected with all kinds of potent drugs as though he was in a large amount of pain and suffering. Consciousness would probably be a problem for Theo going forward.

"Oh, lordy..." Theo muttered, and he felt the wooziness forming between his eyes right as the third drone detached itself from his suit.

The drug-delivering drones departed, TerraBrad's side hatch was shut, and Theo was left to himself, completely without his thoughts, running his rig in a roundabout towards certain doom. It smelled like heartburn and brimstone.

Movement: (Horror MOV orders edited!) (Everyone but Vatman Jones can peek)
> MOV.Horror: If Bahammer is not a valid target for LEO's ambush this round due to Theo's scan, then Bahammer will ride along with Theo. If Bahammer is a valid target for LEO's ambush this round, Bahammer is ordered to Move 1 hex southeast (102 -> 202) with instructions to Retreat towards Theo in ENC! (Sorry - I tried asking about this in the discord and didn't get an answer regarding LEO being able to ambush Theo's Retainer this round or not!)
> Power Move! In his Gamma Bounder TerraBrad, Theo (with or without Horror Bahammer, as above) Jumps five hexes to circle around and arrive where the Zodiac Leo has set its Ambush, interrupting it if it tries to leave its ambush site (102 -> 202 -> 201 -> 302 -> 404 -> 303)!

Listen Along: Pitbull Terrier (God's Berzerker Trap Remix) (EXPLICIT) - Die Antwoord

Charging forward in his Gamma Bounder TerraBrad, Theo Reticule stomped inexorably towards the Zodiac rig LEO's position just as the mighty cat-like meat-machine leapt over the rig entirely. Theo's momentum was totally lost as he ground his rig's feet to a halt in the wind-whipped grease marshes.

"gently caress...?" Theo Reticule said, in a brief glimpse of coherent awareness spared from his drug-induced stupor. "This."

Theo slapped himself on the forehead and rubbed his temples. He thought for another moment, wondering why he'd ever signed up for this hellscape game show with near-impossible survival odds.

"Goddamned shitshow." He resolved. "Like there's any chance of succeeding now."

"I'm out, after this-" Theo decided, drunkenly slamming the button to pop open his rig's hatch. "I swear. I don't know why I keep coming back to this shameful sham. It just feels like this universe personally hates me."

The dog-like Wrecker screwed an Assist Flare into his cranial launcher and timed it to fire just as the rig's cockpit enclosure fully opened up. He aimed it for the bug-like patch of bullshit uselessly swarming against the side of LEO's core, doing gently caress-all with it's power drill, despite trying to insert its spinning phallus into Leo's exposed flesh and failing multiple times.

"Hey!" Theo exclaimed incredulously, scrabbling for lucidity. "Is that the piece of poo poo what killed Dunk?! It is - I just know it!"

He was right. That piece of poo poo was none other than Dunk Tuggum's killer, the Hiver Talcum Bee Blitzen.

"HEY! You stupid bug-fucker - just look at what you did, killing Dunk fucken Tuggum!" Theo screamed over the din of battle, uncaring of the comms alerts telling him to act immediately. "Bet you could have used his help now, you coward loving idiot bitch! Eat poo poo and die!"

They were rookies, for crying out loud, and as a predatory veteran Wrecker, Talcum B. Buzzem had felt that he could get away with killing a newbie Wrecker just because he wanted to. It made Theo's blood boil.

In his readouts and alerts, Theo noticed a comms missive from Talcum B. Buzzem, imploring Theo to launch all his Assist Flares at the Zodiac LEO immediately or else they might all die.

"Y'know what? gently caress that, and gently caress whatever Talcum wants in particular." Theo muttered. "I don't actually care if I finally fucken eat it today. Talcum can suck my fucken knotted dick 'til his bees drown in my spunk. I don't give a gently caress."

With that, Theo slammed on the 'Close Hatch.' button, and disarmed the Assist Flare screwed into his forehead. Immanent death or not, Theo hadn't felt this good about himself in months.

"Let's all die because someone was too selfish to consider how their murderous actions could impact the group's survival chances down the line." Theo stated, nodding, because to himself he made perfect sense. "Let's fucken go: Heaven or Hell, let's fucken rock this meatbitch!"

Encounter:
> ENC.Theo: With two hexes of Momentum, Theo Power-Charges with his Piloted Gamma Bounder! Charge Attack vs LEO.MBOD: 1d14 2 - Miss! Wrong dice used, too! Bad Gas! 0 -> 1 Poison!
> ENC.Horror: Theo orders Bahammer to Retreat to him (202 -> 201)! Bahammer has 1 Buff token!
> ENC.MBC: Do NOT Bodyguard Theo against Ejection! Theo has 1 Buff token!
> Challenge Completed: H.R.R.S.'s >Slap Yourself: After a miss or a failed ACT roll, slap yourself and explain why your accidents have had a detrimental effect on your chances in the game.

> FreeANY: Theo launches 3 Face Krew Assist Flares against LEO, 4 Mutant Nuggets, 1 Ribbon Skate, and Wrecker Talcum! He hopes for roll reversals, protections from LEO's attacks, or else damage against LEO's core! (nah!)
Direct all complaints to the person who killed our best answer for Zodiac fights: Talcum B. Buzzem(n?) killed Dunk Tuggum in cold blood and thus he deserves to die! Simple as that. If we all die here, it's because of Talcum/Malbogio's decision to kill the one person who could have fixed this whole... 'no-one-can-hit' situation! The Assist Flares will get used, eventually!
> Challenges for the GM to be aware of:

>>> Airlock Victory: Witness the defeat of LEO via ring-out, through sphincters or some weirder method.
>>> It's Debuff Season: Be the first Wrecker to apply a negative token to the Zodiac.
>>> Survive This (Repeatable 2/5): Take no damage, either through being missed or absorbing the damage, from a targeted attack from LEO.
>>> Any Landing You Walk Away From: Have a rig you are piloting be destroyed by LEO, and survive the experience.
>>> Cooperative Victory: Two or more Wreckers may complete this challenge by killing an enemy through hitting it in the same round, with no single attack sufficient to kill the enemy on its own.
>>> Freedom of movement: Have more than 10 health worth of attacks miss you in a single ENC.

Listen Along: Crooked Dub - Space Monkeys versus Gorillas (Album: Laika Come Home)

Tumult, uproar. A rig-shattering impact. Impossible rushing heat and speed, followed by a sudden freezing cold. Spinning, alone, tumbling through the silent darkness.

"Whu - was that it?" Theo Reticule asked the whirling void, pockmarked with minute spinning stars. "Am I dead? Finito? ...Gonezo?"

There was no response. Theo's comms signals, as powerful as they were from his spinal array, had gone totally dark. His pings echoed against the nothingness and never returned.

"I'm in space, aren't I?" the dog-boy reasoned. "That means I'm... out, doesn't it? I lost..."

"Fuuuck," he swore, out of shock, amazement, and self-admonishment.

Theo drifted in space for moment. The drugs in his system were keeping him from hyperventilating, thankfully. He only had so much oxygen remaining in his intact spacer suit's tanks: he'd have to make these last few moments count if he really wanted to get rescued by WCLTD's extraction teams...

With only minutes to spare, Theo carefully withdrew the three Assist Flares looped to his belt, loaded them into his cranial cannon his rail loaders and lit them all, one after another.

"Raav!" Theo said, as the first flare lit up green.

"Bean-man!" he yipped, as the second popped flare blazed a golden yellow.

"Ra Maximum!" The exulted, as the third and final Assist Flare caught flame, shining in a blindingly fiery magenta.

"Face Krew friends, assemble!" Theo called, and he felt the Flare Lens on his Combat Suite glowing with a red-hot intensity. "Sorry I couldn't do more."

The spaced Wrecker Theo fired all three Assist Flares into the depths of space, for whatever good that did. Thankfully, not only did Theo's spinning slow, the flares also helped Theo's location get pinpointed by Wrecking Crew's exfiltration teams...

???
> FreeANY.Flare: Theo launches all three Face Krew Assist Flares! What a way to go out!

Sponsors: Augh. I let you down. I let myself down. I got heated in the moment and lost my cool. I'm sorry, Sponsors. I'll have to make it up to you all, someday~

At the very back corner of the Cosmiq Pharmaware corporate campus, Dr. Skipp Wiley Sr. paced about his spacious office, having already launched into a tirade in the middle of his multi-conversation comms call.

"I'm telling you this makes me look bad, Clairde!" The ex-wrecker insisted. "Cosmiq's Wreckers aren't supposed to use profanity, and meanwhile I'm profiting while Cosmiq's taken a nosedive in the stonk exchange! Yes - that's in the by-lines, you nonce~! Hold on, Clairde, they've come back. I have to go."

Dr. Wiley set down his brown alcohol and slapped himself across the jaw to switch comms call-pairings. He'd have to get the pressure plate sensitivity adjusted by his PWN overnight - he must have slept on it wrong.

"Right, so what's that about the future-hammer - oh, 'retained indefinitely for further study,' was it? ...Fine." Dr. Wiley relented. "And what about the goofy kufi, er... that old thing, yes. Gone? Really?"

The Director of Sponsorship Affairs scowled, his cyberEyz squinting. "No sign at all? Einswald from Wrecker Wresources, that thing is a legendary collectible, so you can't just tell me that it's disappeared with all those eyes in the area!"

"Yes." He relented. "I can hold while you check the back. Oh, and say 'hi' to Theo for me."

While he waited, Dr. Wiley got a little sponsorship work done. He cracked his knuckles over his head and began typing away at his Sponsor console's interface.
