All Men Must Die

I officially gave up trying to make my wine cooler work.
So for now I'm storing all my cigars in Tupperware (Sistema klip-it) and using the wine cooler as cooling (Boveda for humidity).
As the Sistema are relatively air-tight the Bovedas in there have lasted the better part of a year so far.

Anyway, after reading a few reviews I've gone ahead and bought a Raching MON1800A.

Figured I'd share some images:

Unit is coming by sea freight. If I remember I'll make a review. However, they are very expensive ($2800 USD with shipping to Australia).
Should get in in about 22 days from now.

Anyone have a preferred vcutter they use?

Looking to get a few things for my trip next week and that’s on the list.

Xikar. The VX2 is a bit deeper than the standard one.
A lot of people like the Colibri V-Cutter but it's super dull after a few cuts, YMMV.

Yeah that looks sweet as hell, really excited to hear about it when it lands!

Direct from Shenzhen, you can buy them off of Alibaba.
Comes in 2 options - black, or the above images.
Insides are apparently 100% Spanish Cedar.
Also, you can get an ammonia filter with it, not sure exactly what the purpose is as I've never really had a need to filter out ammonia from my cigars.

I'd like to know some decent wireless hygrometers so I can get some data logging going. That way I can provide an unbiased review, as their websites data log shows basically perfection.

FWIW, I talked to them about 4 years ago. I did a thing on Alibaba where sellers contact you. Out of the 3 - the Raching was the most expensive, but they also had better written English and were well-enough known, going to cigar shows and such to show off their product. I also asked for data logs and hygrometers to be put in (unit set at 65%). The Raching was the most accurate - but data logs can be doctored, but at least the hygrometers show 65% (give or take 1).
The others were in the 70's.

I'll provide an unboxing video when I get it. As it's compressor-based I'll have to wait before turning it on and filling it up. Plus I'd probably need to season it...

Well, it finally arrived.

I also made a little video as promised.

I'm by no means a professional video taker, it was taken with my phone.
Also, yes, I know one shelf is upside down.

The cost was about $3,000 AUD.
Paid $30 for unloading. The thing came in a wood crate, with cardboard and styrofoam surrounding it.
A real loving pain in the arse to get the humidor out of.

Gotta be a real enthusiast to fill that thing up with Australian prices Valar. I just bit the bullet and ordered a corncob pipe and the price of the pipe baccy left my eyes watering, just like cigars ...

Importing works out cheaper. Even with GST + Customs fee.
Buy a few boxes, save a gently caress tonne.

Any websites you recommend or just the big ones everyone here uses?

Don't know if it's allowed.
For Cubans:
https://lcdh-amsterdam.com/
https://www.ihavanas.com/
https://www.topcubans.com/

For non-Cubans I know of:
https://www.neptunecigar.com/
https://www.cigarplace.biz/

Those are the ones with good reviews.

Some people like Cubans at 69%.
I myself like 65%.

I wouldn't trust any of those electronic humidifiers that you can buy (Cigar Oasis, etc.). They are way too fiddly and before I got my proper Cigar Cooler I'd have to stick the humidifier on a thing that turns it off once the RH gets to the point.
I also removed the florist foam and replaced it with water beads, too.

Boveda, on the other hand, are awesome.

Falcons are an excellent pipe.
Pity the filters cost so much in Australia.
