Hi folks. I like translating stuff and I like Brazilian songs, so might as well share some stuff. I'm gonna be adding timestamp and notes [1]. I'll try to adapt expressions and idioms as much as I can, but some stuff might be hard to translate. I'm picking up songs that I think have interesting or powerful lyrics that could stand on their own. Most of the songs I'm translating follow a certain theme, but if you're Brazilian and wanna translate some stuff of your own, feel free to. Assuming we're not talking about generic love ballads, Brazilian songs tend to be very politically or sexually charged, or both. Todas Putas would be the feminine form, Todos Putos would the masculine form. There isn't a universally agreed upon standard, but the typical gender neutral form nowadays would be Todes Putes. The x has been slowly phased out due to being unpronounceable, but I suppose it does nail the point of the song title. [2] - She says "sapa" which is short for "sapata" which is short for "sapatão", meaning "big shoes", which is a slang/slur for lesbians. It can either be a slur or not depending on context. The word dyke is actually used here as is, but usually only between LGBT people. [3] - She says "trava" which is short for "traveco" which is short for "travesti", meaning transvestite/shemale. Travesti itself, surprisingly, is rarely used as a slur, but the shortened versions are. [4] - BR 44 = USW 13, EU 46. BR 38 = USW 8, EU 40.
