Surely some of the directors would have known. I imagine you have good days and bad days (or bad days and worse days :smith:) and that would be hard to hide or make excuses for during the entirety of a movie shoot...?

It's almost impossible they didn't know. You're talking about invasive surgery followed by month-long periods of chemotherapy in this instance. Not to mention the legal issues involved with having someone in that condition work on an action film. I'd imagine most of the cast and crew knew.

If Marvel-Disney decide that they want to go forward with Shuri, you'll see a hundred thousand articles headlined 'Here's why Shuri is the next Black Panther' with images from the comic attached and their marketing will go into overdrive on it so things like 'fan favourite' and 'people wouldn't understand it' won't matter at all.

Yeah, the early post-credits scenes don't really work at all and I think the Russos or the screenwriters straight up said at one point that they didn't really care too much about them because they didn't make those films and didn't want to be constrained by them.

Thanos being dishonest, even with himself, about his motives would fit really well with the comic character, but I don't think it would mesh very well with the movie character's ending in Infinity War and Endgame.

Avengers #23 introduces Ravonna and is before the bulk of the silliness with Kang's origins and identity. If you want something more modern, you're going to have to just jump in at #41 of Busiek's run (Vol. 3).

From the rumor mill I think their instructions to the casting director was for "an Alison Brie-type" for the She-Hulk role.

Alison Brie really wants the role, and I think would be great in it personally, but that sounds like what they really want is Alison Brie, but younger, because Hollywood is horrible.

I find it funny that the comics had decades to build up the potential weirdness of their relationship but in the movies the sum total of their relationship is maybe ten minutes of screentime? I know comics-to-movies always have a strong recency bias but the leap they're doing here seems big. But in a good way. Weird is good.

It kind of sucks and feels a little weird, but I did think Bettany and Olsen did a pretty good job of selling it with the very small amount of time they had.

Yeah, you don't need a build up, you could do Dark Phoenix as your first X-Men movie, but you have to commit to Scott and Jean and the other X-Men as characters, whereas the movies we got were mostly about Magneto, Xavier, Wolverine, Mystique and Rogue.
