I don’t see why Mane is in there at all, he had an average year. I’d expect to see Pulisic, Bruno Fernandes & Danny Ings in there to be honest.

CyberPingu posted:
The issue isn't lack of spending, it's too much poor spending in the years leading up to and including Mourinho's departure. Maguire, AWB, James, Bruno and VDB over 3 windows is much improved over all the windows including van Persie's to be honest (had luck gone differently and van Persie not had that form or that freedom from injury that squad suddenly looks paper thin up top again). However it's come at the time the squad needed not only first 11 additions to achieve the goal of climbing the finishing positions but also additional depth in the squad. While players like Pereira, McTominay and Old Mata are your options off the bench to re energise midfield/chase a match, there's still a serious depth problem. When Liverpool were behind at Old Trafford they changed the entire midfield after half time and pummelled us for an equaliser. That's the type of thing we need to be able to do if as Neville describes we're to "catch" Liverpool or City. That isn't going to happen this coming season, I'd expect to fight for 3rd, maybe hope to close the gap to 2nd but there's either more work from the academy or another window or two before the depth is there for any attempt at a push up the table while attempting to compete in other competitions. Midfield is pretty healthy looking finally, options up front drop off sharply past the starting 3 still, right back is fine, another better CB is needed and another left back. So yeah it's a dumb article pointing out the obvious: without more strength in depth and a couple more first 11 players, United can hope for 3rd at best this coming season, imo.
