Nu-Gary is definitely goth in my book, the lyrics get so dark (Little In Vitrio is especially harrowing) and the influences he took from the bands he initially influenced in some sort of ouroborous of bleak definitely work for him. That, and he built his vocal booth in his garden shed "so I can see if my wife comes home because I'm self-conscious about my singing".

There's a relatively obscure german/latin music project I like called E Nomine that had lots of latin vocals and orchestras and old testament dark biblical epics. I've been looking for more stuff in that kinda vein. Just listened to Mono Inc for the first time and they're exactly my poo poo. Anything like that you can recommend, goth thread?

It's all traditional German folk music, but rendered symphonically/electronically with a good amount of industrial noise. Also E Nomine was just the side project of Diary of Dreams, which is also pretty fun music.

She was over the moon with them and wears them everywhere now (much to the annoyance of her dad as she is now slightly taller than him but he can get hosed). It has also just occured to me that I've spent almost £1000 on New Rock shoes in my life - I bought a pair for myself with my earnings from my job at Subway when I was a teenager, bought a pair for my girlfriend at the time (who broke up with me a week later and sold them straight away) and now a pair for my stepdaughter. Hopefully her little sister doesn't want a pair.

QNTAL is great, instrumentally I think it's the closest thing there is. I had no idea Diary of Dreams existed and I thought I had researched similar bands pretty well years back. I'm so happy to have heard them, it's like E Nomine never went away.

Another track you might enjoy is Cantus by Faith and the Muse. That was a pretty typical one to hear on the dancefloor before/after E Nomine, with a lot of the same people dancing to it.

More of a goth/punk adjacent genre, but I’m heavily into psychobilly these days. Generally see some of the old-school goths at gigs, but it’s not exactly a major thing - usually at punk gigs and harder to push the theatricality elements. Nekromantix are just a great band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjOiFwfB1X8 The Brains are kinda all over the place, but they have some great tunes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_KCF5-9a48 Also some great covers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBL0c_KHJro The Creepshow manage to be excellent despite rotating through singers constantly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C79q2jSwAAs Relevant to AFI discussion earlier, Tiger Army is good, and this features Geoff Kresge on bass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P96BLvmy2VY

Yo I'm out of my depth when it comes to anything involving techno, so I figured I might as well ask here since you guys are most likely to have similar tastes. The other day I randomly discovered Kontravoid on YouTube and I really like this sort of vibe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exD-oGci-9M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7WsWrVdLds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSb5rWR_IWA What subgenre is it, and are there more bands like it? I feel like there's a link to the electronic type of goth music that I discovered in this thread, with the menacing undertone, and somehow being understated and energetic at the same time.

Hey, yeah, that's pretty great! I'm getting similar vibes as from TR/ST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuiKeaqERTU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et7SUHoMmrk And while generally that's more of a synthpunk/indie vibe, maybe a few traces of Digital Leather? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECWlQ64tgZw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow0kbRYYkCo

The clip is hilarious, but the song is quite good! I've been in a real Fields of the Nephilim/Rubicon/Last Rites mood, but also can't stop listening to Trentemøller - Complicated. I love Jehnny Beth, and it reminds me of a brief window of time in 2020 that didn't suck and of someone I miss a lot.

sometimes you're just in the mood to dance in a desultory manner with a noose around your neck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPw7nlluRdc upbeat Bauhaus to make you forget the horror of existence, do a singalong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArxSqKrD1ak not "goth" i guess but maybe you would hear it in a club in olden times. this group shoulda been a lot bigger than they were. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh6LpM2Hw2I just bought this off bandcamp, haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
