I'm slowly working towards my first platinum trophy, which seems like it'll be Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I've always been interested in trophy hunting but never really sat down to try and do it. But I ended up with most of the trophies on a casual playthrough and now just have to clean up some combat trophies on new game + and then go through on the hardest difficulty.

My other long term goal is Cook Serve Delicious 3 plat. It's one of my favorite game series. I have the games on PC, PS4, and Switch...

Other than that I've dipped into a lot of games that I will hopefully eventually go for plat on. I'm fairly casual and don't have a ton of free time but it's fun to have these goals keeping me going.

I'm grinding away on Cook Serve Delicious 3. Shadow of the Tomb Raider's hardest difficulty sending you back to your bonfire a la Dark Souls sans interesting combat has me frustrated so I've been doing that in fits and starts, barely progressing.

While I've yet to nab my first platinum trophy I can already tell trophy/achievement hunting has warped my brain in an interesting way. I'm generally still only playing games I want to play but I'm also much more likely to try playing a game I normally wouldn't if it has a fun sounding trophy list. Like racing or sports games generally aren't my bag but I might give em a try for the trophies.

I don't have a ton of free time to play games anymore and having that extra layer of meta progression to a game not only helps me get my money's worth by keeping me interested and playing a game long after I've beaten it but I also find myself thinking about which trophies I want to try to get while I'm at work. So even if I didn't beat the next level or whatever if I spent an hour talking to all the characters or collecting the bits and bobs from an earlier level for a trophy I feel like I've made some progress.

It does have some downsides because now I'm afraid to start games with multiplayer trophies even if I like the game itself and I'm wary about playing games without platinum trophies. Oh and i have a streak going on True Trophies that I'm anxious about losing. But i think overall it's a net positive.

Hey if you get an add from PaymentPlan on PSN or any of the trophy sites that's me. Just wanted to have a few trophy hunter friends. Feel free to add me, too! Totally down to help boost some trophies if it's on PS Now or something I have.

Speaking of PS Now do any of y'all have it for trophies? Wondering what people have been playing on it. I've been enjoying Car Mechanic Simulator. And there are a handful of PS3 games I can play on my laptop with it which is pretty cool.

Gotta love goofy workarounds for tough trophies. Car Mechanic Simulator has a race track you can bring cars you've tuned up and there's a trophy for completing a lap in under a minute. However, the driving mechanics are miserable and you have to have a ridiculously souped up car to even come close to the minute time.

But! The track timer only goes as high as 59:59.999. Then it rolls over to 0:00.000. So if you wait for an hour inches before the finish line, let the time roll over, THEN cross the line you finish with a remarkable lap time of a second, netting you the trophy.

Other than the grindy "Sell 1000 cars" trophy, this trophy is one of the rarest for the game.

Dr. E do you have any VN recommendations? Just platted Xblaze Code Embryo and it was dreadful. It was fun following the 100% guide but the game was chock full of creepy fan service of the 15 year old girl cast. Probably not fair to judge the genre off it.

Which also leads to a more general question. Do any of y'all have platinums/trophies from games you're ashamed to have gotten? I'm thinking about this one and also the one in Yakuza 0 for watching the porn films.

If you have PS Now or can get a trial there are a handful of hidden object games with easy plats. I'm working on one called Enigmatis right now.

There are also two games called Flatland Prologue and vol. 1 that can be finished with plats in an hour or so. Prologue was and maybe still is on sale for 19 cents with PS+

Y'all working on anything specific this weekend?

I'm having a hard time settling on just one thing, but I'm having fun bouncing around from Mudrunner to Car Mechanic Sim to Just Cause 3 to Lego Harry Potter. All of em sans the Lego one seem like the plat will take a while anyways and I don't want to burn out on them.

Next plat will probably be Wilmot's Warehouse. I manage a warehouse in my working hours so it only makes sense to manage one in my free time.

I'm doing a fun thing on True Trophies where you try to get started on your backlog by earning a single trophy in a bunch of games you haven't touched yet, which tanks your completion percentage. With all the games I bought in the recent sales and all the PS Now games I'm interested in I'm probably going to be dropping back into the low 20%s.

apophenium
Apr 14, 2009
Haha, I was specifically thinking about you two when I posted that. Yeah, for me, losing 5% is nothing. I've only played about a hundred games and have only been actively getting trophies for a month.

Totally different when your percentage is way up there and is harder to move!

The trophy I'm working on in Car Mechanic Simulator requires selling 1000 cars, which is not something that will occur naturally at all. So I've been playing in the sandbox mode with unlimited money, buying three cars and then selling them. I'm on a launch PS4 so this process takes about two minutes. I've just hit 750 so I've still got about two and a half solid hours of grinding to go.

Which makes me wonder what're the grindiest trophies or achievements y'all have gotten and how long did they take? I'm sure there are some really tedious and time consuming ones out there.

I'm also about halfway through Doki Doki Literature Club Plus and gently caress, dude.

I saw there was a glitch preventing people from getting 100% on that so I haven't been playing it. But it did get a patch the other day so maybe it's fixed?

I'm only through the first couple days of it and it's cute and fun so I'm really curious about all the content warnings and stuff.

Right now I'm enjoying working on Mudrunner now that I'm out if the awful first mao, Bog. All the other maps have been so much more fun. Really unfortunate because it'd probably be a much more popular game if you started out on Island.

I'm one platinum away from hitting double digits and I kinda want it to be a cool one, but the time commitment on some of the ones I want to do is insane. For example I'm halfway through all the missions in Cook Serve Delicious 3 and I just crossed the 80 hours played mark. So tempting to rush through an easy plat...

I remember there was a conversation here about boosting for multiplayer trophies and I thought a good middle ground would be attempting them and then boosting if it was proving to be too tough. But recently I was trying to get a "win one online race" trophy in Team Sonic Racing.

Three times in a row my opponent disconnected and ended the session when I was about to win. Now I'm all for boosting. Though I still prefer playing games with zero online trophies.

Apr 14, 2009
Would it be better for your completion percentage to platinum a bunch of easy games like those Powgi puzzle games? Obviously it would dilute your collection kind of, if that was important to you. I'm not really a fan of those games that seem like they're specifically made for trophy hunters.

But I really admire what you're doing. I kind of want to get the plats on the first three God if War games that I played back in 2010. But then there are other cases like Injustice which I got some trophies on at launch but now it has unachievable stuff.

My cheap rear end is gonna try to get all trophies for Judgment while it's on PS Now. I've only got til October 4...

apophenium
Apr 14, 2009
Ooh nice gonna grab that when I get home.

Also hoping to finish the Olympics 2020 game. Found someone to help boost the online achievements. It's a relatively quick plat and fairly enjoyable. 20 sports themed mini games all with a fair amount of complexity and a ton of polish.

If anyone has it via PS Now or otherwise I'd be happy to help with the multiplayer trophies.

Well I've finished stage one of getting all trophies for Judgment, namely beating the story mode and getting missable trophies.

Stage two will probably be the most time consuming: finishing up all the side missions, friends, drone races, mini games, and all the little "eat everything on this restaurant's menu" things.

Stage three is rushing through the hardest difficulty on new game+ with all the skills unlocked and stuff.

What a game! I'd heard getting all the trophies in the Yakuza games was difficult and time consuming and that seems to be true for sure. And as far as I know this is one of the easier ones to plat. But I'm still having a lot of fun. There's just so much to do and I love that it's all just waiting for you. None of the side stuff is missable.

What have y'all been working on? Have any of you done 100% of any of the Yakuza games?

apophenium
Apr 14, 2009
I might actually pass on completing Judgment. My game is glitched, locking me out of one of the minigames required for 100% completion. The only thing I've seen people say has worked was doing new game+. But that resets all my side cases, friends, girlfriends, and drone racing stuff. And I'd have to play through the story again. Wouldn't be too bad considering I have to do a Legend playthrough anyways but doing all the side content again on that difficulty seems like a bit too much. drat! I was really enjoying it, too.

apophenium
Apr 14, 2009
I decided to be strong and continue on with Judgment. Finished the Legend difficulty playthrough and made sure to do the stuff that had glitched on my other save.

So now I'm in the final stage of mopping up all the side stuff. Currently working on the supposedly supremely difficult drone races but I haven't had much trouble so far. I'm sure the later races will be a headache.

After that the only thing that I expect will give me any trouble will be the game's secret super-boss. I'm glad I stuck with it cause it really didn't take long at all to get caught back up.

Oh yeah, Ineffiable, how's Great Ace Attorney/its trophy list? I'm thinking about picking it up. Been ages since I played an Ace Attorney game but I always liked 'em.

I was unable to interact with the homeless guys in the children's park. You have to talk to a guy there to unlock puzzle shogi, which is required for KamuroGo completion. It didn't end up being too bad since I had to do a second playthrough on Legend difficulty anyways.

So yeah if you can talk to the guys there around the fire barrel you're probably good to go.

And that's good to hear about Great Ace Attorney! I'll definitely be picking it up.

Apr 14, 2009
I finished the platinum for Judgment.

As I feared, fighting the super secret boss on Legend difficulty was a pain in the rear end, much more difficult than the drone races or Puyo Puyo. But I finally got through it. Then it was just a matter of getting the various love interests to confess their love for me and finish donating to the game's Kickstarter knockoff.

What a journey! Definitely the most involved platinum I've earned. Other than a handful of frustrating parts I loved getting everything done.

It is weird though when a plat is tied to really and truly doing everything the game has to offer. Other than replaying the many minigames there's nothing else to do! But it single-handedly made PS Now worth it.

Platinum number 14 is everyone's favorite hauling-logs-through-Russian-bogs simulator, Mudrunner! Particularly enjoyed this one and was able to knock it out pretty quick after I got some help boosting the multiplayer trophies.

Next up? Hmm. Well, I won't be getting it any time soon, but I am working on Final Fantasy XIV. I may try to knock out some shorter games in the meantime, like Return of the Obra Dinn or Everybody's Gone to the Rapture or Thimbleweed Park. Probably going to make sporadic progress on Snowrunner and Hades.

Trophy hunting is such a blast.

Diablo II (and untreated depression) was why I flunked out of college the first time so I'm looking forward to completing most of the trophy list for Resurrected. Though I never did much hardcore and definitely never got any characters to level 99.

My three most recent plats aren't that special. One of the Pic a Pix games, Wreckfest, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

Currently alternating between PC Building Simulator and Snowrunner. Both of which are gonna take 100 or more hours.

But my trophy obsession has led me to overspending so I'm gonna try to knuckle down and finish some things. Only thing I might buy is Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 if it goes on sale. Not sure how feasible it is but I'd like to get to 40% completion on TrueTrophies. Currently at 35% so it seems doable.

I was trying to finish up the platinum for dinky platformer Flatland Volume 1 but I keep running into a glitch where a moving obstacle simply won't move. It's during the speed run mode where you only have a handful of seconds to complete each room so I can't wait to see if it ever rises. Plus, unlike the other modes you have to start the speed run mode over from the beginning, no mid run checkpoints if you close out of the game.

So yeah that one is gonna sit at 98% for the foreseeable future. That's what I get for buying a cheaply made game specifically for an easy-ish platinum trophy.

Got my 19th platinum with new (to PlayStation) game Train Station Renovation. Was the second person to plat it on PSNProfiles and the first on TrueTrophies. Really fun game. I wish cleaning my house was as fun as it is in games.

Also made a big step in Bloodborne. Finally knocked down Vicar Amelia after a few months of trying off and on. Not really too hard of a fight it just took a lot longer than I expected it would and I always got impatient and started taking stupid damage. I've heard she's one of the easier bosses but I think if I stick with it I'll be able to get the game done.

But mainly I'm still working on PC Building Simulator, Hades, SnowRunner, and Cook Serve Delicious 3. And trying hard not to buy and start random other games, perhaps the hardest challenge.

Finished up A Way Out with my wife for platinum number 20. Then I got 21 with Active Neurons, a short but fun puzzle game I picked up for a buck in one of the recent sales.

Also popped a bunch of easy trophies in Injustice 2 and got my completion percentage up to 38%! A new high for me. Of course I then immediately dropped back to 37.6% by starting Castlevania Advance Collection.

I've also started playing The Last of Us PS3 via PSNow. Kind of a bummer the platinum is unachievable cause of the multiplayer but I guess I might as well try to get the completion up close to 50%. But mainly I just want to play it so I can play the sequel while it's still on PSNow. Somehow managed never to play it before despite its popularity.

apophenium
Apr 14, 2009
I wish there was an easy way to see playtime on PlayStation games. It seems like it tracks it because TrueTrophies has an estimate when you complete a game but I can't figure out how to find it before then. Total playtime to get all trophies would be a pretty interesting metric. Some games track playtime anyways, though, but sometimes just per save or something. Like I am level 18 out of 33 on PC Building Simulator with 80 hours played so that one's definitely gonna be well over a hundred hours.

As for what I'm working on I'm kinda in a tough spot right now for platinums. Nothing is really close and I'm more focused on getting a daily trophy streak of 69 (:yosnice:) so I can stop worrying about it and knuckle down on some of these longer games.

Recently got the platinum in one of the POWGI games, Word Sudoku. I love sudoku and it seemed like an easy one. Ended up using numbers instead of words and imported the puzzles to an app instead of solving with a controller. Pretty enjoyable but I bet some of the other POWGI games are better.

Right now I'm focusing on the multiplayer in CoD Vanguard to reach max rank. Apparently your rank resets with the seasons so I'd like to get the related trophy while I'm already close instead of grinding it out again. Not sure when I'll get around to doing the single player stuff.

I'm trying hard to knuckle down and grind out the rest of the PC Building Sim trophies. It's taking forever.

So it'll mostly be those two, with some Binding of Isaac mixed in. The latest DLC for it finally made it to consoles. One of the DLC trophies is now my rarest trophy on PSNProfiles at 3.28% even though it's not a difficult trophy. I think it's just cause PSNP counts unowned DLC trophies in with their percentages.

Maybe I'll try to get two more platinum trophies this year. That'd put me at 25. We shall see!

Nice work Ineffiable! Glad to see you still chugging along even with Elden Ring delayed and whatnot. Completion percentage is a really engrossing goal.

I've reached a milestone with earning my 25th platinum in The Return of the Obra Dinn. I was working on Shadow of the Tomb Raider and made some progress on it but took a break to try Obra Dinn and got completely wrapped up in it. Highly recommended if you like solving mysteries!

I'm also about 15 trophies away from having 40% completion on TrueTrophies, so that's my next goal.

apophenium
Apr 14, 2009
:toot: Completion percentage just ticked over to 40%! Probably going to be a bit looser with starting new games now that I reached that milestone, even if it lowers my percentage. It'll gradually go up as I work on more platinums and then I can tighten things up and try to hit 50%

Right now I've been working on TrueTrophies' 12 days of Christmas challenge. Each day they announce a new challenge and you have to complete them in order but you have til the end of the year to do so. I've done the first three days. One trophy from a PS4 Pro enhanced game, two trophies tagged as "stackable," and three trophies with a ratio or 3.0 or higher (not totally sure what this means but it basically just means harder/rarer trophies). Next up is four trophies from games on PSNow. As you can see the number of trophies required increases just like that annoying Christmas song.

Not really working on any specific platinum, just playing what I fancy at the time! Liberating!

Ugh, a hardmode playthrough of The Last of Us (PS3) only netted me 4 trophies... I may leave it there for the time being cause I didn't enjoy the game enough to wanna go through it again on an even higher difficulty.

So I'm just gonna move on to the sequel while it's still on PS Now. The plat for it seems infinitely less tedious so I may as well go for it.

2022 will be my first full year of trophy hunting. Earned a modest 25 platinums last year after seriously starting in May. I'd like to push for at least another 25 this year but I'm more interested in knocking out a few of the long term ones I've been working on.

So life the only plats I get this year are PC Building Simulator, Snowrunner, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Cook Serve Delicious 3, and The Sinking City I'll be happy. Not all of those are particularly close to completing but I'd like to knuckle down and knock em out finally.

That being said, I'm sure I'll want to play a bunch of other games this year too so who knows where I'll end up. In any case my main goal will be having a lot of fun!
