yeah i get its supposed to be the movie that the toy in toy story is merch for, but i DONT get why, if thats the case, it looks like a modern day animated movie rather than a 90s movie

i mean i know why (asses in seats, lowest common denominator, etc) but i dont know WHY

no

it’s the movie about the REAL GUY, who had an animated series made about him, that the toy was a product of

it’s like how Jackie Chan had a cartoon made about him and you could buy a Jackie Chan Cartoon action figure. it’s not a Jackie Chan action figure, it’s a Jackie Chan Cartoon action figure.

the movie Lightyear is equivalent to a Jackie Chan documentary

its a childrens movie with a veneer of "complexity" because the people that were children when the original came out and want to see it because of nostalgia are like 40

theres not much more there

i haven't seen it, but outside of wiki nerdery is it actually set up in a way where it matters what the broader continuity is supposed to be?

i'll catch it on a plane one of these days i guess.

I wonder how much more sane parents were when home video didn't exist so kids just had to watch what was on tv instead of the same movie literally hundreds of times

At least I had it on 1.25x speed. Fairly interesting, goes over a bit of difference between Book Dune and Film DUNC, though there's no huge insights here that you won't have twigged yourself if your're remotely curious about the story. Well produced video anyrate, and the guy doing the voice work doesn't have one of those youtube voices you can't temper past five minutes.
