I borrowed Ghost of Tsushima from a friends and have played a little and I think I’ll enjoy it. So I’m considering the $30 PS5 upgrade.

For those that have done this, are the graphics appreciably better? Also, will I still need the disc if I pay the upgrade fee?

I've purchased 3 in the past few months (one for me, one for my daughter, and one that I sold a friend at cost), and got the alerts by following wario64 on twitter. You'll probably try and fail a few times before you get one, but that was overall pretty easy for me.

How so? You just conquer a region that matches your level first. I don't see how that's different from a game like ER that lets you take on areas you're not equipped for. I was overpowered for each new region by the time I unlocked it because I like doing the side stuff. I don't feel like MTs were ever even presented to me, nor were they remotely necessary for leveling up. I actually assumed all the MT stuff was cosmetic.

Someone ITT was talking about playing AC:Valhalla in like full discovery mode where icons wouldn't show up unless you found them first. Is that a pretty straightforward way to play in the settings, or are there downsides to playing this way?

I think the game actually gives you the choice early on, and you can always change it in settings later. I don't think there are any downsides, other than possibly missing out on some side quests and whatnot. But I think that would be expected when playing in this mode.

I’ve been impressed by some newer movies on UHD like the more recent James Bond and Star Wars stuff, but it’s not usually as impressive as a really good transfer of an older movie. Like it’s a modern release, of course it’ll look good. Going back to to something released decades ago and seeing a good 4K transfer of it is another level. Then again some of those movies are limited by how they look to begin with. Robocop as an example, great UHD but probably not gonna blow socks off of a casual viewer as it’s one of those “this is as good as it’s gonna look” scenarios.

That's what impressed me so much about Bladerunner. I'm used to watching dark, grainy transfers of it. The new version looks like a movie that could come out today, and you can actually see what's happening in the action sequences. It was like I was watching it for the first time.

Re: Ghostwire Tokyo

It was a very pretty game that kept me engaged. Combat was a little one-dimensional. Your magic weapons are essentially magic version of a shotgun, a rifle and maybe a pistol? Lots of stuff to collect and whatnot, which you'll either like or hate. The story was decent. The thing I would say about this game is while I enjoyed it, as soon as I put it down I completely forgot about it.

Also if I played it again I'd probably prioritize grinding to get the perk that lets you grapple anywhere. I didn't get that until almost the end of the game, and it would have been nice to have it a loot sooner.
