I've had that happen a few times, on various different patches. Never had it unfreeze -- in fact I seem to recall it carrying over to the next flight one time.

Anyone else having the altitude and speed tape freeze mid cruise on the g1000/g3000 PFD? It seems to unfreeze when you begin the approach but it sure makes descending a challenge.

I noticed the Wind overlay also said “no wind data,” maybe it’s related.

Was there any icing? This may happen if you get ice in your pitot tube. It working again after descending into warmer air would also be consistent with icing issues. Make sure you turn on your pitot heat.

The wind overlay showing no data has been a thing for me recently. It seems to typically indicate 0kt wind, but I find it hard to believe there's 0kt wind at 10,000ft so often, so wind just seems buggy in general still.

That’s a good idea. I had pitot heat on.

The backup altitude and speed tape were reading correctly (I was flying the Daher 930). Also the “mini map” thing on the PFD and next waypoint were also frozen.

A flight of Hueys is tasked with picking up a package in the LZ, supported by CAS flights in the area. Meanwhile, additional elements will perform SEAD on a nearby airbase to prevent the Rangers from responding. Ranger Smith and escorts must not reach the LZ.

Still some good slots open, and of course we can try to accomodate if you want to fly something specific.

Okay if you go into the flight plan and "activate leg to waypoint" on your current waypoint then it seems to resolve the frozen speed/alt tape thing

I tried out the new Il-2 Clod tobruk game.
Everything seems good (except the UI, holy poo poo), it runs (except for a bug where I needed to install it on the windows partition), looks and plays good and has lots of pre-made missions for the selection of aircraft.
If you want a detailed combat flight sim for that particular time period (northern desert early ww2, which is something that you don't get much from sims) it is worth a look.
All the planes seem well made, they all have their own complex engine and flight quirks. The BoB stuff is still all there too and has been updated to the newer spec and now it doesn't crash or run awful anymore.
If you like WW2 fighters with less cannons and more machine guns and don't mind just having pre made missions and multiplayer and lots of sand it might be worth getting when it goes on special.

Also the better damage for the WW2 planes in DCS might be released by the end of this month finally!

If it's hardware, you can totally refurbish the potentiometer inside there. It's not very difficult to do.

Take the stick apart, and look for the doodad inside that the twist rotation operates. 90% of the time it will look like this:

See how the metal casing is held on with those bent-over little tabs? Get a flathead screwdriver and bend them back up so you can open it up. Inside you'll find some arrangement of a copper wiper that rotates around and traces along basically a circular circuit board trace. Use some iso alcohol (If you can find any thanks to Covid) and clean off the circular trace and the end of the wiper.

I brought an old stick back from the jittery dead like this once. As long as you're comfortable taking something apart and not breaking it in the process, go for it.

You can also use contact cleaner for this (it worked well on my similarly ancient Extreme 3D Pro). I just had to spray it on the potentiometers and wiggle the stick around for a minute and it worked properly again. I also found the stuff handy for fixing some other useless electronic junk over the last few years.

Honeycomb Yoke arrived yesterday. Did a couple of flights in MSFS and it's a significant upgrade from my CH Eclipse.

Only issue I'm having is that I no longer have Throttle/Prop/Mix levers. I'm probably going to 3d Print a throttle box or quadrant to hold me over until Honeycomb Throttle comes available.

I don't think it's that you fly into a wall. Turn off damage and see what happens. When I've tried to fly under the Eiffel Tower as well as a bridge somewhere else, I flew under, was slammed into the ground, and then bounced up and kept flying. I think there is something wonky with their wind model that causes the wind to shove your plane into the ground when you fly under something.

To me it looks like a wall. Take a cub and taxi up to a bridge, it really looks like you're slamming into something.

Yeah flying under bridges treats it like you're hitting something. Hit boxes are way off. I was able to do it with the Golden Gate Bridge but it simulated damage to my engine.

Also if you land on the road part you are elevated a few feet off the ground.
