Texas AG Ken Paxton, who has spent the last 5 years under indictment for state level securities fraud, but can't be prosecuted because turns out its really difficult for the state to prosecute the AG when neither the AG, the Executive or the Legislature want to, is in trouble again. Seven top deputies in the AG's office, all GOP, Federalist approved lifers, resigned en masse and accused Paxton of bribery and abuse of power. The say that he appointed a special prosecutor to harass the 'adversaries' of donor Nate Paul, former real estate whiz kid who is now involved in multiple bankruptcies and under federal investigation. According to the Texas Tribune the 'adversaries' that Paxton is harassing are the federal agents currently investigating Nate Paul. quote:According to the Houston Chronicle, former top aides to Paxton have alleged that the attorney general inappropriately appointed a special prosecutor to target “adversaries” of Paul, who donated $25,000 to Paxton’s reelection campaign in 2018. Those “adversaries” appear to include agents who raided Paul’s home and business office, though Paxton has confirmed only that he authorized an investigation into “allegations of crimes relating to the FBI, other government agencies and individuals” and that the investigation involved Paul.

Hunt is presumably spending a ton of money on ads, because I see his ads (and attack ads on Fletcher) easily twice as often as I see ads for Fletcher. oh its definitely not anecdotal. Concerned Rs in Texas are avoiding Trump in their ads since he doesnt bring anything positive to them at this point. ive yet to see a Cornyn ad even mentioning him.
