budget ryan gosling and by the later seasons Dexter was straight up just murdering people in airports and gun ranges. the other cops were so god drat bad at everything especially quinn

Game of Thrones was fun to hate watch, not this. complete opposite for me, the final season of GoT was boring and had no value The Shield owns though and i rewatch it often. It has that constant tension as things get worse and worse for the strike team, similar to Breaking Bad and it's what Dexter needed in the later seasons

I thought it was all really bad, especially Harrison showing up out of nowhere. And the Deer, and the cop banging Dexter, and the side story about how the annoying guy killed some people or some poo poo.

It's main concern is sex and taboo. The show was a vehicle for softcore porn that got really popular. A police procedural with a sexy murderous twist, filled with sex scenes and the characters hooking up with each other. The goal is a boner, this is a show partners watch to politely get in the mood. Dexter is on the same level as Nip/Tuck or Californication but with a different conceit. The formula is having a gimmick, getting into ridiculous situations, and being horny all the while. The bad writing is part of the charm and appeal. It's totally a comfort show to have on in the background and not take seriously. It gets worse after the first few seasons because they started trying too hard, imo. So when I see these heavy critiques I just... lmao. What on earth? Dexter isn't even close to Nip/Tuck or Californication Both of those shows deal with at least one sex addict and Dexter is like the opposite of that.

that was pretty crazy and had some genuinely funny scenes. dexter really is doing a terrible job with harrison but pretty much every relationship with kurt feels forced. like dexter just strolling into his prison which while funny was utterly ridiculous. i'm hoping it'll get better with them being active enemies. roomtone posted:gotta say i was wrong about making harrison a part of this season being a mistake. when he showed up i assumed he was just going to be a decent kid who dexter had to try and be a good dad to whilst lying to him, i saw that chore spilled across the whole season. there is some of that, but making harrison a compeltely hosed up co-lead has been just as fun to watch as dexter himself. the actor's doing a good job too, he consistently gives off dubious intentions without making it too obvious what he's thinking. yeah agreed, its pretty much the main thing stopping this from being just like all the other seasons

there was also that case where someone escaped from a serial killer, ran into some cops and then the cops gave him back to the killer at least i think that happened but it might've just been an episode of Dexter
