While exposing some friends to this grand tradition tonight after my weekly Twitch stream, I played for them— in its inexplicable entirety— my 2016 contribution Holly Jolly Battle of the Forms, where I read all of Article II of the Uniform Commercial Code as Santa. The 2016 Album was one of the only bright spots of that year, due in no small part to you. Kruxy's big collaborative songs were super fun as well.

Here's some bad concept art for content's sake in the meantime. I'm happy to wait for the real album art to come together magically like it does every year.

I love that goon children— Haschel Cedricson's for sure— have been learning it as a "real" Christmas song. Give it another couple decades and it might actually make the radio.

I want to say there was a goon who worked at a small, local television that added some of the more normal Goon songs onto a late-night Yule Log broadcast one Christmas Eve. Can't remember if that was ever posted, but I remember it being talked about, maybe in the 2017 thread give or take a few years.

It's remarkable how these albums make Christmas seasons more memorable. Listening to these songs made college dorms more homey back when they first started, especially during those lulls after returning to campus following the holiday break. It's weird that I can just associate certain goon songs with periods of my life. Now I play these songs clandestinely at social functions around the holidays to see if the anyone at the chamber of commerce notices.

Professor Hinkle
Burger Meister Meister Burger
Winter Warlock
Topper
Olive the Other Reindeer
Santa Bear
Bully Bear
Missy (The only other named character from the Santa Bear's High Flying Adventure starring John Malkovich)
Relay (From the He Man/She Ra Christmas Special, though Skeletor is the true hero there so you could add him in a pinch)

You could fill in several more from the Claymation Christmas Special as well
Quasimodo the Maestro
Low C Bell
Herb
Rex
Waddling Goose
Wallowing Pig
Waffling Dog
Wassailing Irish Elf

Maybe add the Caganer during the Nativity list.

Dropo (The Laziest Man on Mars from Santa Claus Conquers the Martians)?

Yeah, the Low C Bell is from the Claymation Christmas Special, which included a bit with the California Raisins. Basically two dinosaurs based on Siskell and Ebert bicker about the meaning of Wassail while presenting different bits. It seems to be up on Dailymotion actually: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x57fkhi

A lot of the names I can recall are from VHS recordings from the 80's and are probably Americentric. The kind of things that make the rounds on Betamaxmas: https://betamaxmas.com/

And yeah, Pitch the Devil from the MST3K Santa Claus would be a great reference. Maybe major characters from popular holiday movies can pad the name list? It'd be cool to get more non-American references as well.

Can also add in some international characters like Frau Holle, Befana, the thirteen Yule Lads from Iceland, and heck even Colonel Sanders for Japan's Christmas.

drat, that's good. I didn't realize how few international Christmas influences I've been exposed to. My film library is limited to Joyeaux Noel and Dial Code Santa Claus from France, a bunch of British adaptations of A Christmas Carol and I guess Anna and the Apocalypse is a Christmas movie with zombies and singing.

Speaking of, the song could incorporate recurring Goon characters like Pastor Ned and Dracula if desperation ensues.

Edit: anyone want to post your personal top 10-20-30? I could tally up votes and maybe put together a "best of" list on there.

I love every song because the intentionally grating, weird, funny, heartfelt originals and jolly parodies all make this whole thing greater than the sum of their parts. That said, I do have about 20 songs that stand out as "most listened to" over the years, as well as a few from this year. Frankly the only reason Christmas Ragnarok and Rocky Horror Christmas Show aren't on that list is that they almost deserve their own category, like the Law and Order radio play.
