We all know this is going to be a shitshow. Please post about it in here so we don't clog up the CE thread. My prediction: Everything will continue to be terrible.

Mmmmhhh...new-thread smell. Here's an image of a stupidly long chud-parade that genuinely has me worried for tomorrow. https://twitter.com/redwins3_first/status/1322699901747236867 Oh god, I said "tomorrow".

I will be at work inside a SCIF all day tomorrow. Please document the clust-astroph-gently caress this turns in to so I can be properly informed about exactly how screwed we all are. Thanks in advance and stay safe out there.

Oh good, I was hoping for this. Not a chance of following a dnd/cspam thread right now, I don't want to be that tuned in.

This thread sucks. Not because of the contents (though all of our posts suck), but because the election sucks.

That 5 degrees might be a bridge to far. What can you come up with as an "evil reason"? Democracy? Not wanting people to die? It's like that joke about the dude praying to god to let him win the lottery repeatedly, with god eventually coming down and saying to meet him half way by actually buying a ticket.

I think the judge would probably accept ANYTHING that remotely smelled plausible, but its a matter of coming up with even that small bit. E: I'm sure everyone involved is looking at what retaliation is going to look like, and thats scary in Texas where people looked at me weird for NOT having a gun in the console of my car

facialimpediment posted:Anyone ever volunteer to do door-to-door political canvassing? I've got a question from this story: the primary source for the list is voting records, which gives you, in i think most states, address, name, party registration, and of course that you cast a vote (ie that you are a likely voter) if you had infinite labor and time, sure, why not knock on every door? but you want to prioritize people who are likely yes's, for example by party registration, by neighborhood, or by anything else you get from other data sources...with the candidates i volunteer for we usually prioritize renters, for reasons i hope are obvious.

Hanen gave the higher courts an easy out, but ruled completely regardless. He said that he would not enjoin votes already cast as they were lawful votes made with valid ID. He would probably turn off curbside voting tomorrow (which ironically would impact more republicans as they're going to be the larger party tomorrow), but did not rule on that because of standing. He might not turn off curbside voting because of timeliness. He's teed it up so the Fifth Circuit and SCOTUS can either go "no standing" and punt on the case entirely or "standing, votes already cast count, no curbside voting tomorrow."

I know the 10th is considered the most conservative, but looking at some things recently put that down, it seems the 5th is also up there. That said there is no way in hell Roberts will do anything that makes it easier to get the Plaintiffs what they want. I know people can point out a lot of things (and rightfully so) like Obdergfall and Citizens United, but I’m happy Robert’s is the CJ now (obviously ignoring a situation where an Obama appointee would be one), since he really does view the legacy and public perception of the Supreme Court as things of the upmost importance and he doesn’t want to be , or the Court to be, Donnies basic bitches.

Seeing you mention the Chief Justice, it always puzzled me that the CJ is an appointed position and not the senior justice or chosen by the justices themselves

This particular judge is a rampaging bag of dicks, but I *am* surprised that he still allowed the drive-thrus to still operate. I was expecting the votes to count, but a bullshit split-the-baby closure of those sites for election day. The fact that there even was a hearing is bullshit enough and you're probably right about the nonsense judicial Republicans will come up to calvinball bullshit going forward.
