Hello, friends. Welcome to a tradition unlike any other. It's the

https://www.masters.com/index.html

This year's tournament was delayed from April due to coronavirus and will have no spectators. There will also be no par 3 contest, and tee times are moved up due to less daylight and to avoid conflicting with the NFL on Sunday. They're also having a 10th tee start this time.

Next year's tournament will be during its normal April time slot, so that will be 2 Masters in 5 months.

Meanwhile...

Tyrrell screwed me in the US Open pool missing the cut, but his performance has been great since winning the BMW PGA Championship. He's finished cut, T44 and T56 in his 3 appearances but says he's comfortable on the course.

Jason Day is probably the safer play but I always worry about his back, plus it might rain all 4 days though temps will be in the mid 70s.

Tiger is washed up and probably shouldn't have won last year, if not for epic collapses by Molinari and Koepka.

I definitely still love watching him when he’s on but last year it felt a bit unearned, y’know?

Nah I agree. He salvaged a few good rounds here and there but after every one, I felt like it was a sure bet that he’d blow up the next day and that’s pretty much what happened. I’m still 10x more likely to watch a few hours of coverage when he’s playing though even though it isn’t really rational.

I’m regretting not picking Wolff. How do I talk about the rain then not follow up with the thought that the course will play longer?

He’s played poorly in his last 2 events, 73 and T50, but any given week...

T-T-TRIPLE POST

ESPN posted:

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Consistently hitting tee shots 40 yards past five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods in a practice round at Augusta National Golf Club apparently isn't long enough for Bryson DeChambeau.

A day after DeChambeau said he would leave a 48-inch driver in his trunk for this week's Masters, he reversed course Tuesday and said it might still end up in his bag.

"Well, I tested it yesterday for the first time," DeChambeau said. "And we've gone through at least three or four iterations of the shaft, and this is the most promising one yet."

DeChambeau said the 48-inch driver, the longest allowed in competition under the Rules of Golf, added 4 to 5 mph in ball speed and allowed him to get his swing speed up to 143-144 mph. He said the new driver also decreased the spin rate of his drives.

Ladbrokes also has Bubba at 28/1 now. We've been using them since this pool format started. I thought about switching where I get the odds from to Draftkings or something this year, but Ladbrokes is the 2nd largest book in the UK and they love their golf betting. I do sometimes worry that Euro-based bettors might favor local players bit more like Fleetwood and Hatton, but the lines should be good on Monday before most of the public money comes in.

I have been asking for this for years. It shouldn't be that difficult of a thing to pull off. Funny how The Masters, who prides themselves on old-timey tradition, is the leader in the golf technology game every single year. They're flying drones over 13 for fly-by shots too.
