is there any reason why basic functionality like, i don't know, being able to craft something multiple times didn't make it in? I'm having ZERO fun click and holding CRAFT hundreds of times to upgrade my components for crafting. 8 years of dev time

So, the set pieces are fun and the story is good. Everything open world is generally terrible to ok. This should have been a hub based game with zero open world to it imo

Randarkman posted:Even though I kind of agreed and have been pretty loud in criticizing lots of the game, particularly the open world bits (driving, traffic and pedestrian AI, wanted system and cops), I actually disagree. How the scope of Night City is conveyed is definitely this game's biggest strength, even if most of the time it's actually just a flimsy illusion, but my favorite thing to do is actually walking around and exploring parts of the city by foot, because there is lots of cool stuff to see and take in, even if you can't really interact with it at all in any manner. I'm operating under the assumption that the main area uhhhh the region you start it in would be more vertically built up and that everything you listed in parenthesis would be fixed if the rest of the regions didn't exist but i know that actually isn't necessarily true

fadam posted:The cyberpsycho sniper you encounter after following a trail of bodies with sniper wounds is so cool. The scripted voice line "oh, gently caress" as you see the aggro indicator appear and the guy take aim at you is rad. Game is ok. It has a really good main story and good side stories. The moment-to-moment experiences outside of these contained, scripted events -- are really poor.

Firstborn posted:Curated experience of Night City is so good. Interacting with gameplay systems pretty average. If this game was just cutscenes I would like it even more Yeah, earlier I said the game should have been hub based. I think curated experience is better put. I do think some of it is personal expectations and a lot of expectations brought on by CDPRs claims. I didn't expect a Bioware talk fest outside of curated events but not being able to bullshit with cool NPCs very much sucked. I thought the phone call and test system would be more robust.

fadam posted:Gotta disagree. As I get new cybermods and weapons I'm finding cool new ways to eliminate bad guys during the crime quests. I don't mind the not-curated events, open world stuff but it's definitely not good. The open world genre has made huge strides and while I don't expect RDR, I also don't expect Crackdown, which is about equivalent in depth.

fadam posted:I'm the exact opposite. If the game was exactly the same but in a slightly bigger Kamurocho from Yakuza 0 or Prague from DXMD I think it'd be a way better experience. The "open world" should just be a connective tissue between all the side quest zones. 100% with you on this. The shame about this take is that the atmosphere is tremendous and they even got the Badlands vibes down perfectly too. I actually don't mind the RPG level up mechanics tbh. They just hosed up about being so stingy about handing out blueprints. Give me a legendary armored trench coat bp pls so I can be a neo-noir cybermerc and not some rip off of Kaneda.

I logged in to see that my PS4 was no longer my "home" PS4 and found out someone was buying NHL card packs with my wallet funds (a game I don't even have). Contacted support and they would not refund me or help me get my account back, and the guy actually told me that if I kept contacting them I would be banned for account sharing. After hours of repeatedly contacting them again, I did end up getting the account back (but not the money). i can't say that i find this to be Sonys fault

All it takes is a character that's better to simp after I guess DXHR is a mechanically better, more sound game. What you upgrade / equip lines up with the information the game is telling you. Unlike this game, where you can wear too much armor so then it treats you like you aren't wearing any at all. Or how the goon showed us in the thread earlier, that equipping different items to enhance crits didn't correspond correctly.

River is easily the most half-baked NPC friend in the game. He grew on me a little bit by the end of his arc but something about how it started with him felt more railroaded then most.
