Seasons greetings, C-SPAM! Back in spring we promised that we would have regular feedback threads, and we have been doing so. Now it's time for the fourth installment, in time for the holiday season, and it seems like people have a lot of feedback to give. We are all ears! What makes this feedback thread different from the previous ones is that we've figured out a new way for you to give us feedback. In lieu of the traditional Christmas album, we've set up a google voice number unique to C-SPAM. All the mods have access to it. You can call in and leave a message. These messages will then be compiled into mp3 files and the messages will be posted here anonymously for everyone's listening pleasure. Whether you have something positive or negative to say, have some phone prank you want to play on us, or just want to call in to say "TRELP," well, now you can! As a warning, because of the way google voice works, unless you dial *67 before the number, we will be able to see any number that calls in. We have no way to connect that to your something awful account. We don't want to do anything with that information. It will be anonymous, but we will know all the numbers that call in, and that is all we will know. We are not going to look at that. We just want to make a funny call in-thread. If you're not comfortable with us having your number then go to a payphone or buy a burner SIM card or something. Or dial *67 before the number and then we can't see who called us! We just want to offer you all full disclosure here about how this works before this begins. For accessibility reasons, if you want to leave anonymous feedback you can also text us. Black lives matter. Defund the police. I find it disgusting that the CSPAM PD is slaughtering peaceful posters in the chat threads. I had two friends go to the flamewar in the Succ Zone a couple days ago and the posters were peaceful until the mods showed up with their excessive, violent force probating people for eighteen hours and putting the thread in slow mode. Is this what you think of, protecting and serving? Because I think it’s bullshit. gently caress you, twoday. I refuse to call you a goon or a mod because you don’t deserve those titles. Perhaps it should be rephrased, because it seems that people interpret the core message of that rule as being that you can’t make fun of people, whereas it was meant primarily to be about trolling and thread derails. I posted it during the recent smarxist episode, but there were problems before that in the succzone and elsewhere, where people were just aggressively derailing threads, where people would come out of the blue and say a thread sucked, that the people in it sucked, or otherwise were generally trolling, without contributing anything else to the thread. It made them unreadable garbage and led to lots of reports and PMs and a general mess.

We are going to do an ik shuffle soon, and we do rotate out a few of them out quarterly or so. Some of them have been around for quite a while because some of them are assigned to specific threads. A good example is the gun thread - none of the mods know poo poo about guns, and it generates reports sometimes that we don’t know what to do about, but it’s not such a pressing issue that it requires appointing another mod, so we just appoint an ik or two to keep an eye on it. But the more general IKs and chaos IKs are meant to be rotated out, and I guess we can try to do that more often

I'd like to see the megathreads be recreated every once and a while. More threads overall, really. I feel like some really good stuff gets buried in a big thread and becomes impossible to find. I have no idea how to make this happen though.
