Orv posted:They did, yeah and both of those were really good expansions. I still don't think that makes two years to release a map a good look for any game, regardless of the level of detail (random trash scattered everywhere with rare or no meaningful gameplay impact) and to be fair that's also about the time scale that Hunt, Tarkov's basically only competitor is at for a new map, so it's hardly a Tarkov only problem.

The nuclear plant will be cool. Especially if you gradually take radiation poisoning and die if you are on the map too long. There are even medicines that reduce radiation in game, iirc.

It would be kind of neat if you had to use masks and poo poo on the power plant map too. And heal after the raid like you do if you are poisoned by a cultist. Almost make it like a labs-esque map where there is a cost to enter, albeit via meds, gear, etc. Fill it with tech equipment and make it like an alternative to Interchange where you can find the rarer spawns of technical equipment. Raiders in hazmat suits would be sweet too.

Make it so that hideout has to build a decontamination chamber for you to be able to go there - easy way to level lock the gear there and maintain some form of progression. Avoids the power creep reserve raiders have created.

Thinking back to other devcasts, wasn’t the main thing about Streets is it’s their biggest map yet, and is supposedly going to support 40 players at once? All the time and delays have been working with Unity optimization to get 40 players running smoothly (it probably still won’t).

I didn't for awhile but in the past week they started up again. Supposedly the next patch is suppose to have some fixes. Hackers are and will forever be a thing but I haven't run into one yet. I think they only really exist on Labs.

Streets is also supposed to contain Labs, as in you will have to load into Streets and make your way to the labs entrance with a keycard in order to get to the second map. It's the first step to their open world. It sounds like it's going to be horrible in the most hilarious ways possible.

It’ll be interesting to watch as the beta raid loop people have come to love is removed. I’m honestly excited for the game to be more like Stalker and less like the game we know today, but I can’t imagine it’ll help its popularity. I wonder if at this point they haven’t considered abandoning the future plans and making this game in its current form a “live service”.

they should rework the bitcoin into some socialist UBI thing where it's a relatively small amount of money (30-70k a day) but only needs to be touched weekly to get all the gains from. it should be super easy to acquire and should be an easy, constant source of a little money so casuals can actually acquire some key items that allow them to bridge the gear gap.

Bussamove posted:Imagine thinking that just because your level is higher you should be able to clown on people effortlessly because of ammo advantage. personally auction houses in general make games less fun for me. it turns every single item i pick up into a question of how much roubles a thing is worth vs. the slots i have available. when every item is perfectly liquid, i don't care what i need for my hideout or quests because i can just pick up whatever's highest value, liquidate, and buy whatever i need because supply is nearly infinite on everything but the most sought after things. i vastly prefer limited liquidity and barter economies so things slow the hell down. obviously as the game stands now it's balanced around flea access at level 10. things would need to be moved around a bit and rebalanced, but I have no qualms with knowing the best poo poo is locked behind a bunch of quests and rep grinding, or assassinating unlucky high level players.

I like the idea that the bitcoin farm is kinda a gamble. They should change it to key the prices on something else other than real world BC prices. Ideally something in game. Then the prices could be kept under control and people could speculate on their value. Also if you grind for rep/quests/unlocks or you grind for roubles, it's still a grind, you're still putting in the hours so I don't give a poo poo which way you get your gear as long as it's not through cheating or RMT.
