I have a jpg on a website.
Someone else who definitely didn't create or own the jpg decides to create an NFT using some service and pays a fee.
You decide you want to buy the NFT and pay for it plus a fee to the service.
Someone else gets what you paid minus a fee to the service.
On the blockchain is a hashed url that points to the jpg.
At any point in the future, I can make prints of my jpg or put them on shirts and sell them. You can't do poo poo about it.
At any point in the future, the domain for the url that is hashed can go down.
During this whole thing, you never owned the jpg. Just a receipt for a hashed url that pointed to my jpg.
All of the transactions that were done for this jpg uses up enough energy to power a small country.

So If I'm understanding this right, say someone is selling this png they are making:

I buy it.

They give me the URL of the png which is "private" and only I can see it.

It's my png now. Like someone selling a physical painting. However, they can make "duplicates" but at the end of the day I have the "original" PNG.

Is that it?

Just to recap, this is all happening at once:

- A war against two nations that provide 70% of the necessary raw materials to make silicon, and provides a huge amount of other raw materials that western worlds rely upon.

- Sanctions against one of those nations, further worsening supply shortages of said materials.

- China is locked down, causing a huge backup at their ports, worse than ever before seen in the USA. And when the ships do get loaded, they will be backed up even worse than they ever were in the USA.

- A diesel shortage in America because we keep exporting it to other countries.

- Climate disasters after climate disasters.

- A drought in the western United States so bad that lake Mead is at its lowest point EVER, and most SoCal residents are now under a mandatory water conservation mandate. Businesses and Farms are of course, exempt from such mandatory water conservation mandates, and use 100x the water that all the residents use combined.

- A stock market that is in free fall since January, and most stocks have lost between 20 - 60% of the value.

- Ever rising under-reported inflation that's closer to 20 - 30% y/y.

- Housing prices are skyrocketing at 100%+ a year.

- Insane gas prices force people to no longer drive, which further impacts all service jobs, worsening unemployment.

And the libs aren't doing poo poo to fix any of this. lmao

It's pretty obvious we are just around the corner from another Great Recession which will undoubtable turn into a Great Depression.

We are witnessing the collapse of Capitalism and due to the insane polarization in the modern United States this will result in many states succeeding and the entire United States only compromising just a handful of Northeastern states if any at all.

However, due to all states will continue to follow neoliberalism things will deteriorate further everywhere.

Things will keep declining until a radical socialist movement takes place, and the wings of revolutionary socialism will sweep the states prompting coups and civil wars across the former United States and honestly much of the world.

In due time it will be possible for socialism to dethrone and defeat capital, paving way to a modern revolutionary socialist government from the Pacific to the Atlantic.

It's always darkest before dawn, and this collapse of neoliberal capitalism is just the first step. The decaying of the modern system for the upcoming red shift in American and global politics has my support.

That was a poor wording of my post.

I in no way believe that the current governments, especially those in North America and Europe, will want to switch to renewables or try to. It would have better to word it if the populace will force/topple these governments to force these the energy industry to adapt.

Almost three quarters of greenhouse gases come from just 100 companies

Virtually all of these companies are energy companies.

Why, speaking hypothetically, wouldn't the governments nationalizing these companies and forcibly switching them to renewable energy not fight climate change?
