bradzilla posted:Lol the op is an anti masking dipshit. Peep this meltdown yeah i think opening up schools is irresponsible and the government insisting that its 100% safe while shutting down everything else is bullshit. I straight up think the government is lying that schools are not transmission vectors because the alternative is parents not having daycare or being able to go to work. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-covid-19-vaccine-second-dose-delayed-1.5865482 I also think that politicians politically pressuring health authorities to release the vaccine at untested, unauthorized cadences that are out of spec for what the manufacture produced it at is a bad idea and definitely not in the public's best interest. hth

lotta doomposting in this thread let's take a minute and appreciate the mRNA vaccine y'all read this thread: https://twitter.com/WheatNOil/status/1339624815137722368 The tl;dr is that it is mindblowingly cool and brilliant in how it was designed, and scientists have known for decades that this new avenue for vaccine creation has possibility, they've just never been able to get funding for it. And they were able to get funding, and get a vaccine out in under a year. Mindblowing. For reference, the mumps vaccine took over 4 years. Despite decades of work, no HIV vaccine has been developed. What this means for the future is twofold: - We will be able to develop vaccines for things we've never been able to target before. Think, a general flu vaccine, instead of a yearly vaccine that targets a few strains that experts think are going to be big in that particular year. - We will be able to get them out fast About that last point: In Canada, where Methanar is building his prepper bunker, we had a lot of vaccines administered last week, and way fewer this week. That seems bad, and it's because Pfizer slowed down their output a little. That's not bad, though. They did that so that they can focus on ramping up production and going even faster in the coming weeks. Future pandemics? Ignoring that statistical probability of no more than 1 every 100 years or so (anyone who says otherwise is wrong fyi), this new technique should be quick to knock them down before they even start. Remember last February when we just started hearing rumblings about it? Yeah, that'll be all
