Like, you could donate 80% of it to a food bank but if the government comes knocking for their money back, they will make sure they get it back one way or another.

Do they print the food stamps in paper bills? If so, get one of those money guns and shoot it around in front of expensive cars. Post the videos on Tiktok. If not, buy Monopoly sets with them and do it anyway.

what the hell does $16 dollars a month do for someone, that’s 50 cents a day

naem posted:what the hell does $16 dollars a month do for someone, that’s 50 cents a day 16 isn't nothing when it comes to food, in terms of home cooking that could be a nice steak dinner for two, once a month, I mean I wouldn't spit at that. But I dunno how you'd get so little on food stamps, quick google suggests the minimum is still over 100/mo because it's obviously meant for sustenance not a monthly treat.

Once someone qualifies for any SNAP benefit amount it makes then eligible for other programs. I have been working for DHS since the pandemic started, and have worked in random state social service jobs for years. The $16.00—>$1000 thing is helping a lot of people right now, not just the ones getting the disbursements. It’s helping to stabilize the economy (as people spend the money, it keeps others working) There has been an uptick of people buying $1000 in bottled water, then pouring it out just for the 10 cents a bottle refund, but not as much as you’d expect.

Food stamps seem insanely insulting. There's been heaps of studies that show the vast majority of poor people use money really well to improve their situation and know precisely the value of a dollar because that's what they're living by. Apparently the list stuff you can buy with them is a scam to funnel money to certain corporations who bribe officials. But the answer to your question is to feed your crew. The best place to store extra food is in your friends' stomachs.

You can also only hold so much in an EBT account at once, so you gotta spend it, I suggest canned goods and favors. Sup don.

50 cents a day would probably get you enough bulk calories not to actually starve in the short term if you have facilities to boil water. Not much beyond that though and you'll have all sorts of deficiencies in both micro and macronutrients within weeks. real answer: stock up on decent canned goods, dry goods and stuff that will last in the freezer. grab a few big bags of rice and pasta, also lentils and dry beans/pulses though take care with storage as you can get insects if you just leave the bag open. Buy fresh or frozen vegetables every week and use a LOT of them in your cooking. You've got plenty to spend, splash out on some good spices, find a South Asian or Middle Eastern section/store and grab the big bags of premixed spices for curries and stews. also the standard condiments, soy sauce etc. Basic ingredients can be made into amazing feasts with the right spices. If you're shopping for one and being frugal without being miserly, those food stamps will still last months and months. If you're still getting more defo donate some of them or buy premade donation parcels.

I live in Ohio. It is $16 for some reason, IDK why-- I used to pay my gas and electric bills but now they are included in my rent, which went up OC. It was like $78 or something a month because they gave a standard deduction of like 600 bux off your income for utilities, lol! Good ideas, thanks, yeah gotta spend some if they start taking it away. Going to Aldi in an hour or so to stock up. Oh yeah, it wasn't in error, it is for everyone on EBT they get the max now, and Biden might have made it even more, or at least made 12 million more people eligible for stamps. It is a 'credit card' type thing, wish they still had the cash money food stamps though!

"donate it to a food bank" sounds nice but it's actually really inefficient to donate food. food banks and charities have partners they buy very cheap food from so when people bring heaps of cans and poo poo it just costs them hours trying to figure out if the food is good or usable. so just blow that poo poo and eat some food
