its j school so who cares and all workers deserve tenure, but i assume this mostly fucks with NHJ's pension because she's getting a five year contract instead and i don't think anyone believes she'll still be teaching one seminar course a semester there or whatever five years from now either way

If the most memorable moment of your campaign was the time a woman brushed past you during an interview to get more ranch dressing, you probably shouldn't try again, but sure, go for it.

i doubt biden's even lucid enough to understand the policy decisions being made. this is mostly being fought out at the staff level and biden's staff contains multiple people who think the obama administration hosed up the recovery act, bernstein and klain most notably, and nobody who thinks they hosed up healthcare.

i figured that leahy had set up molly gray (the mayor pete of vermont) to replace him in the next election but this is much funnier (as stupid as this is, if phil scott decides to run, leahy may be correct about being the only democrat who can win)

ate poo poo on live tv posted:My favorite thing that I learned from Joementum is that Bernie is the Junior Senator from Vermont. Leahy is the last of the "Watergate Babies", the wave of Democrats elected in '74, still serving in Congress. He replaced George Aiken after Aiken retired. In his last campaign, Aiken spent $13 and won 60% of the vote against... also himself... from people who wrote him in on the Democratic line. Leahy's also the first, and only, Democratic Senator from Vermont.

this race was never close, but a bunch of journalists pre-wrote "dems need to get tough on crime" pieces a couple months ago and they didn't get to use them when krassner won his primary, so they were trying to wish a dem loss here into existence so they could finally hit publish.

a lot of this discussion is premised on the incorrect assumption that it is only Manchin and Sinema holding things up in the Senate, when they're really giving cover to a majority of the Democrats in the Senate who agree with them. that's why nothing would change if you added five more manchins. we already saw that play out in 2009 when there were nine more manchins. it's also why you can't quite compare what's happening in the house.
