For me, having him just do Eminem over and over is lazy. At least do Jack Harlow who was on the show, or something.

ArtVandelay posted:The show has had bad writing since Colin Jost took over as head writer. The cast is generally pretty great, but Colin is just an awful writer and it won't get any better until he leaves. Lorne just loves him for some reason. Lorne definitely has a type...there is always someone who looks like Jost, but it's a Highlander-scenario where there can only be one... ....sorry Luke Null, Brooks Wheelan, and Taran Killam.

DeepDickPizza posted:There were a couple of really good sketches tonight (the vaccination game show and YouTube influencer back to back were great) but I was struck by how they immediately followed those up with back to back sketches where extended family members are just sitting around their house drinking and talking...and then the final sketch of the night was ANOTHER one of those! What the actual gently caress? People just don't make editorial decisions anymore? I think it's more that they just sometimes don't know what to do with their host and get stuck on one framework they can wrap their heads around.

carticket posted:Just watched Salt Bae and that would have been better than a good chunk of the skits that survived. Yeah, the three cut skits should have made it to live. Salt Bae did make me nervous with that knife though... Also, is the whole cast vegan now? Making everybody *touch the meat* in multiple sketches seems...uhhh...like a hostile work environment?

Thundercracker posted:Key and Peele is timeless but I'm really wondering if he has a good agent or not. I haven't really enjoyed him in his TV/movie work afterwards, but it always seem like they don't know what to do with him. There was this moment, after K&P ended, where I was like "poor Peele, sucks to have played Obama because now actual Obama is playing himself opposite Key..." and it seemed like he got left behind in the fame-game. Then Peele made a bunch of critically acclaimed films and won a bunch of prestigious awards while Key was making Predator and doing commercials. That flip-flopped quickly.
