There's no such thing as new music. Just when you think you've made something original you find it was already done by an 18th century Russian composer, or an aboriginal Australian musician, or last year's biggest pop hit, or even yourself! So let's post some music that sounds like some other music. "Aeris's Theme" - Nobuo Uematsu (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w2jrGbZ27o&t=136s) sounds like "Memories of Green" - Vangelis and New American Orchestra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbW3QDOR3Vo&t=105s) "Batman Theme" - Danny Elfman (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JtDHoK9KL8) sounds like "Mountain Top" - Bernard Hermann (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4vvTGIHA9Y&t=37s) "Techno Syndrome" - The Immortals (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aidem5-kheE) sounds like "Twilight Zone" - 2Unlimited (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJMkbSExSgE) What's some of your favorite examples, my friends? Vangelis bizarrely is one if the richest artists of all time. I discovered this during an intense mushroom trip. It makes sense but not really. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vangelis 10 million a year on royalties due to synth pads and midi.

I think I heard somewhere that he does a lot of production work under a bunch of aliases, too, so there's probably a bunch of music out there that you'd never know was by him.

It's actually very impressive and it was wild to explore fully engulfed by shrooms. I've obviously heard the hits but so so many clandestine earworns. He's a beast, hope he keeps killing it, probably keeping the economy alive.

You guys I'm having a hard time deciding which James Horner tune I like best. I'm thinking it could be: "Surprise Attack" from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoit0OdKt-I&t=186s) or "Wall Street and the Wolves" from Wolfen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGma_yAj4eQ&t=60s) or "Ripley's Rescue" from Aliens (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Hw6A7hK9vU&t=11s) or "Klingons' from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjB_sc2BO_0&t=71s) Gosh, it's a tough choice, he has such a diverse portfolio, what do you all think?

People think I'm crazy for this one but I really want to believe there was some inspiration going on. Might be a little bit of a stretch. Boards of Canada - ROYGBIV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nnqGDZnWhU&t=57s Mallard - Your Face On Someone Else https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNbwBYkYVik&t=200s The synth bass and lead combo with piano backing made me instantly think of BoC when I heard the song the first time, but perhaps its just a case of one band being inspired by 70's synth sounds and another band being a 70's band with synths.

Let's start with Metallica's Welcome Home (Sanitarium) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peENJe_ORdI The riff is inspired by Bleak House's Rainbow Warrior https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zowid7KAmnM But Bleak House were inspired, too. The riff they used was probably inspired by a song called Down By the Sea by The Strawbs. So essentially Metallica is building on a mostly folk prog group, though this album was one of the poppier ones for The Strawbs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvtsZ6LFt3E

In something that nobody will ever probably care about, Richard Marx's "Should've Known Better" is essentially a direct rip-off of Don Henley's "Boys of Summer." The heavily reverbed snares, the minor riff during the verses into a bright major chord chorus, the nostalgic lyrics, the entire song structure, it's the loving same exact track!! I challenge you to listen to the first verse and chorus of each and not feel the same way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIxEU1pARwM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpKxH2dDqEM

Another combo that no one in their right mind will ever care about. I think that M's Pop Muzik had to draw at least some inspiration from the Bonzo Dog Band's Humanoid Boogie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPoiv0sZ4s4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgAzWgAXC3I

You could edit just the lyrics from Orleans’ “Dance With Me” over the instrumental “Love’s Theme” from Love Unlimited Orchestra and it would be the same song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=op9ApJJyhD4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_zL0EraakQ
