There are different kinds of tough and that's the issue. When Drury was talking about making the Rangers harder to play against, I took it as speaking to a real need the team has to get different kinds of players who can complement their skilled forwards - go the dirty areas, cycle and grind type guys. But the assumption I made was that Drury would target these kinds of players who ALSO HAD SKILL AND TALENT. I was thinking, maybe they'll try to get a player in the mold of Blake Coleman or JG Pageau - players who do everything well and can pop 20 goals and play anywhere in the lineup. Instead, he seems hellbent on stacking the Rangers with 4th line/AHL call-up goons who can grind but can't loving play. To be fair, they apparently like Sammy Blais a lot and think he has potential. He's only 24, so maybe he winds up being a decent player for them. And Goodrow for 6 years is absurd but the AAV, after seeing the free agency craziness, actually seems OK for him. But my goodness the Buchnevich deal seems so stupid considering how they've spent their cap so far. The Rangers really couldn't give him $5.8m over 4 years? That's an amazing deal for him and Buch actually DOES play a 200-foot game that they need. Baffling.

Yep - I was just making the observation that nobody has gotten a Norris vote. Greene was very underrated in his prime and a terrific all-around defensemen who should have garnered something.
