I remember the Star Citizen cult claiming that Amazon grabbed a whole bunch of stuff from the "Star Engine" that CIG brutalized out of the shambles of CryEngine.

Amazon were quick to claim that nothing CIG had done was used, I wonder if they lied.

Sure would explain a lot.

By definition, merging a server with 5 people on it is only helping 5 people.

The bigger issue is servers that have 'lots' of people, but under a threshhold where you can engage with territory mechanics.

Okay, you do know that if they merge all those tiny serves into one of the servers just under the threshold, it might push player count over it.

That way, not only does the five poor sods trapped in a wasteland of a server benefit, so could the hundreds of players on the "almost enough" servers.

Everyone could potentially win.

I’m sure the process they have to merge servers isn’t simple or easy but then you get to the question of why they didn’t design the system to support merging from the outset, which is the same as asking why they didn’t do a good job designing the game.

The game uses some bastardize version of loving CryEngine, which was originally designed for limited player First Person shooters, then Star Citizen went and did Zeus knows what to the poor Engine to get MMO poo poo to work, then that monstrosity that "Chris Roberts" programmed himself (Satire) was sold on to Amazon and became Lumberyard.

And Amazon has now handed it over to, of all things, the Linux Foundation who'll butcher the code for parts and try and make the viable pieces into an Engine that isn't total poo poo.

So the process probably requires the use of animal sacrifices and a phone call to a German company that only answers to a lunar calendar written by Druids!

Just FYI, Star Citizen and Chris Roberts never touched anything related to Lumberyard. All they wanted was a free use license of older CryEngine builds (3.7 and 3.8 specifically), which Amazon granted them so they didn't have to honor any prior contracts with Crytek. No code or "improvements" were ever integrated into Lumberyard from CIG.

Rumor was Roberts also thought Amazon would provide free engineers and specialists to help him with multiplayer and server code, which is an lol and a lmao

Ahh, sorry forgot that CIG lies constantly, my bad.

The New World Engine is almost certainly still a total nightmare to work with.
