:pwn: :pwn: :pwn: :pwn: :pwn:

A dog mangled the gently caress out my right hand on Sunday so the next few months are gonna be a real treat, but post we must!

Big December shows, but only two of ‘em. Billie Eilish returns to host and perform, after making her SNL debut two years ago. She just turned 20, as we learn in her promos this week.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzIQaRPldHE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shjvgauaD6Q

There are two other Thursday promos which are air-only, which I’m currently capping. I do not understand why SNL repeatedly doesn’t put all the promos online.

As you saw in the promos, Kate is back on the show for the first time this season. She had to miss the first seven shows to film the Tiger King biopic thing whatever on Unnamed Streaming Service. Hopefully this doesn’t mean we get less of the new guys.

And the Vintage is a curious one: Lucy Liu with Jay-Z, from December 16 2000. A 90-minute network repeat of this ep from July 2001 was recently played on the That Week in SNL Twitch stream, and I was thinking the monologue would prevent it from ever running in the Vintage slot. And here we are. This episode has everything: Celebrity Jeopardy!, a cute Christmas ornaments sketch, Jimmy Fallon singing on WU, and of course, Robert Gouleeettttt. We cap off the show off with the second-ever Christmas Today song from Sanz-Fallon-Kattan-Morgan. A potentially solid 60-minute show, besides the oopsie-do of a monologue. You can see Sarge’s review of this show here.

That’s your December thread. And I did it with just 1.3 hands!

Indulge me to explain this incredibly deep cut. Back in the 70s, season 4 i think? There was a Nerds sketch where Lisa Loopner and Todd DiLaMuca were regearsing a nativity school play, with Lisa playing Mary and Todd playing Joseph. One of the gags in the sketch was Todd giving Lisa noogies, as he was wont to do. When they were rehearsing the sketch, the network’s assigned standards and practices guy, William Clotworthy, was raising a stink about the noogies, supposedly saying, “you can’t give noogies to the virgin mary!!” They got the gag on the air, though, and ol’ Bill would die just 42 years later in 2021.

Go back and watch some of the cat/kitten sketches with Kate. She would actually get red in the face holding back the break.

The hotel sketch was great on it's own, but made even better by the mcds commercial before it showing hotel night workers happily delivering mcdonalds breakfast to each other with a smile on their faces.

Kate messing with Billie was fantastic as well.

It was this one, after watching it I was literally thinking, "yeah, that's totally how peppy and sober night shift workers are, this is so dumb" and then the fake hotel ad right after just had me in tears, just a perfect coincidence.

I think Billie did great for her age/experience level, I imagine she'll be back at some point.

I've found something to enjoy in most of the recent episodes, but I cannot for the life of me understand why they continue to do characters with monotone robot voices who just stand awkwardly for the whole sketch. It's so obviously a crutch and 90 percent of the time its a Kate McKinnon sketch.

Overall this season has felt like a big improvement, but it also might be my anti-Kate bias since she was absent for the first episodes.

I wish this had been the real intro. Watching Old SNLs during the week and there's a ton of variety in the opening sketch and ways they arrive at "live from new york."
