I thought I would make this thread as a resource for those of us that order groceries/specialty food items from the internet. There's a lot of different shops and I'd be interested to hear about other goons experiences with online specialty shop. This will also be a collection of online ordering places that are goon approved or that goons have really good experiences with. I've had fairly good success doing this. Online shopping is a great way to find hard to find local ingredients as well as speciality items that just aren't available in your area. I'll keep this post updated with new places to the original op. I'll also try and keep us updated on online sales if they come up

Here are some places

https://www.dartagnan.com/
This place has online ordering for meats and different cuts of meat especially game. Its a little pricey. Shipping can be expensive however. Stuff I like from there is the truffle butter , demi glaces , and duck breasts . If you hold out for a week or sign up they'll send you a 25 dollar off a order of 150. Be aware that shipping can be expensive however they regularly have sales for free shipping.

https://www.thespicehouse.com/
A Great online source for all your spice needs. They can be a little pricey on some stuff ( 10 dollar Shwarma seasoning I'm looking at you). They're flatpacks are worth it because of free shipping on any order.

https://www.stonewallkitchen.com/
Jams, Jams, and James. Wait no there are no James. Anyway this is a great place to find online jams and jellies. It also has a lot of really good condiments , sauces. The deal here is orders of 50 dollars or more online get free shipping so good to save up and order a bunch of stuff.

https://www.igourmet.com/
CHEESE! Wheels and Wheels of delicious cheese. They also have some pretty good sausages, charcutiere. I haven't had much experience with them but I plan to make some orders in the future.

https://www.penzeys.com/ They sell spices and are apparently mortal enemies of the Spice House

Anyway that's a good place to get us started. I figure if people want to mention online stores, go ahead and mention them and then I'll add them to the original post and keep this updated.

Talk about what experiences you have had as well.

Goodness no, now that wouldn't do at all!
Obligatory mention of Penzeys spices. They are the best for any kind of dried spice or good, including chilies.

The only other thing I can add is that Walmart has better prices than Amazon for ordering nongshim shin ramyun. Choose your monopoly poison I guess.

Oh I guess https://thejapanesepantry.com/ is good for getting fancy soy sauce but you will be bombarded with emails.

And I ordered a pre seasoned wok from The Wok Shop back in 2020 and never got anything. I don’t know if they charged my card or not but they never replied to any emails. So I guess don’t use them for online orders.

Fun Shoe
Penzeys and Spice House are run by two branches of the same family which have an intense beef with each other, hilariously enough.

:unsmith: i like nice words
Because the Penzey's guy is extremely liberal/left and has been for a long time, and the Spice House sister courts the Republican and Trump vote in response.

It's mechanical
Spice House runs ads declaring that their spices aren't tainted with filthy liberal politics. I know this because every time my 30-day snooze on my dad runs out they start appearing again.
