To understand what happened at the diner, we use Mr. Papaya. This is upsetting because he is the friendliest of fruits.
 That's a really strange idea considering how the creator of the series is a scientific illustrator who explicitly invented Dinotopia as an excuse to do some fun fantasy worldbuilding using all that technical know-how he gained from drawing stuff like dinosaurs for a living.
