Welp, I'm fighting the dragon. I don't think I am ready. It has so many life bars. Also I am using a fire sword and almost all fire spells and stuff and now it throws enemies strong against fire at me for the first time.

Magick Archers are pretty great. It's what I've made my character, and it's worth noting that a lot of the magic-based dagger skills have no charge time. The bow lets you hit enemies from as far away as you can see them, enough so that the enemies sometimes don't seem to be able to tell what the hell happened. I've somehow managed to make a harpy fall off a cliff doing that.

I honestly can't help but feel I'm overpowered.

Grand Scension is a funny skill. The charge-up time sucks, but once it's deployed you end up with a rolling ball of holy energy that juggles anything in its path.

I don't know why, but the lock-on sound of Hunter Bolt is such a delight.

The sorcerer augment that reduces stamina use for "magical weapon skills" just means spells right? I don't want to drop 6k DP on it and find out it just means the core skills or something.

Depends on whether you are smashing peoples face in or putting so many sigils and cannons on top of each other that swinging it makes the xbox 360 version turn into a slide show of strobing lights and monsters dieing.

Just got my first kill on the Ur Dragon. Fifth Generation one on 360. Took forever, but the full set of Abyssal armor, dragonforged my equipment and the top of the line Sorcerer and Mage Staves and the daggers I got made it so, so worth while.

Sadly, I am a Mystic Knight. I can't use anything and I put the Abyssal stuff on my fighter pawn, she looks much better in it than my guy does. Also got the Saint George Mask.

Next idea for killing Ur Dragon... leveling up Assassin, taking the two solo buffs and dropping all the pawns for maximum, ride the dragon the entire fight damage.

All the sorcerer augments work for magic archers right? Don't want to go max rank sorcerer and spend loads of discipline points if I don't need to.

For people who aren't running with a fighter or are a mystic knight, how well does it work? I can't do it yet since I'm using 2 sorcerers and a mage but I'm getting a bit bored of my party composition.

I've found higher strength ends up being higher damage. Of course if the enemy you're attacking is weak versus fire, it probably does more.

I find it interesting how some decisions can lock you out of a whole bunch of quests, at first that annoyed me, but now i just see it as another incentive to do NG+. The time sensitive lock-outs make sense though, especially the one dealing with the immediate aftermath of the dragon attack at the beginning.

If you're a mage/sorcerer then you can run at the sloped wall below the Witchwood exit right by Cassardis, then levitate to the ledge enough to cling onto it and climb up, which brings you to right outside the witch's hut.

I'm going to become a Ranger soon but I do sort of like being able to run up in melee and beat the poo poo out of things Freighter has knocked over, since the sometimes low frame rates make it hard to aim. How much weaker is Ranger in melee than Strider? It seems like it would be the exact same since dagger core skills/active skills carry over, but that wouldn't make sense since it would then be objectively better than Strider, what with having a better ranged weapon and all.

Also, is there anything from Strider I would really want as Ranger or maybe a future Magick Archer past vocation rank 5? I got that far so I could get the dodge roll and double jump, which are obviously pretty critical to survival as a shieldless vocation, but is there anything as major as those two later on or should I just switch to Ranger now?

Just went from Strider -> Assassin -> Strider -> Magic Bow

I feel like this is going to be awesome. I rarely use any dagger skills other than Hundred/Thousand Kisses, so I don't feel like I'll be missing out on much, although pickpocketing was awesome. I also did love the Assasin's Sniper skill, but it sounds like the Magic Bow can lock on to something from just as far away.

I do, really badly need another Argence, so I can make my Silk Lingerie into three star. Or, I could just man up and fight the Drake and see if I can't get it 4-starred. However, I'm not sure if I can force my male character to wear it.

...escaping from there, I found myself in goddamn HELLFIRE GROVE...
...running from the Drake, I ended up in a 30-minute nighttime fight against a Chimera... and about a dozen Saurians who decided to join in the fun.
I went though every single healing item in my inventory. My Pawns must've been killed a dozen times each. I fell under 100hp again and again. gently caress, even after fighting the one in the Demo, this guy was loving terrifying. I couldn't see him at all, just hear his growls in the darkness.

He finally dropped as the sun was rising.
I can't remember the last time a game gave me that feeling.

Then I went and ran the Old Quarry. Wish I'd known that Ogres can be killed instantly with a couple of explosive barrels. Spending 10 minutes each fighting them in a cramped hallway is not my definition of fun.

Anyone have any report on this?

Apologies for digging out an old question, but:

Absolutely amazing for stocking up on healing items and getting the occasional nice surprise. Roll with two fighter/warrior pawns (and a Mage for support), and use ensnare to pull down your target. 9 times out of 10, one of your heavies will grab them and then you can just go nuts. I have stone moss potions and resistance rings out the arse now as a result (and since the latter sell quite well, it's an easy cash supplement as well).

Sometimes you can find quite nice items, even from random enemies - like equipment, or in once case a banker's periapt.

It helps if your support Mage has the blindness inducing spell, too.

So the trick to getting the Golden Idol seems to be achieving the perfect result.

While escorting Symone, you have to stay close to her. If she ever asks you if you're trying to ditch her you already failed. Start over if that happens. When she plays hide-and-seek, she's either in the Inn or the Alehouse. Find her immediately. She'll then ask for some water, just carry a flask of water on you and give it to her immediately. When she races, let her win. You know you'll get the Golden Idol if you talk to her at Fournival's house and she asks if you're a good friend of her father's and if she'll see you again.

Yeah, that's what I loving figured. I accidentally pressed X near the Command Chair when she was in the inn. She bugged out about halfway through the questions and popped inside my character model running around and around in a circle. When my pawn stopped talking, Symone asked if I had tried to ditch her. Of course it loving saves before you receive your give so it was already too late once I received my golden egg. So I'm locked out of the best weapons of the game now? Love it when they make quests inscrutable as gently caress. :sigh:

This game has a weird save system. I thought I was hosed too since it saved right after finishing the quest, but if you had gone to the menu and picked the "reload last checkpoint" option you would've been sent back to your last inn save I believe.

Haha, that Ogre in the Everfall or whateve it's called. Goddamn that fight is funny.

All female party; me, a Fighter, my main, a Stider and two mages for support. My main latched onto it's head a short ways into the fight. The Ogre knocks her off into a corner and knocks her out by smashing into her over and over.

I shield summon to get it's attention, it turns and charges at me. I broad slash to the side, slice open it's face as it passes and narrowly avoiding being crushed by it and it sails staight past me over the lip of the stairs and plummets three or so floors to it's death.

Beautiful.

It's possible but probably not until later in the game when you don't need as much support or someone to heal/dispel. In fact, there's an assassin augment that boosts stats substantially only if you are alone. You can use augments on any class once you unlock them.
