So draconic enemies stopped spawning in my game for some reason, but I'm not done dragonforging my weapons, so I figured I might as well kill the Ur-Dragon again since that has a 100% chance, right?

Nope. :smithicide: This game really, really doesn't want me to max my gear out.

Man, that was a really good ending. I stopped making D.Souls comparisons once I actually started playing this game, since the differences seem pretty drat clear at that point, but I do wish those games had ended nearly as strongly.

There was a night too. I searched from mid afternoon, all through the night and morning and got bored around dusk and did the quarry mission.

You must have had some bad luck. I found them wandering around just northwest of the abbey, along the path. But the two in the quarry are definitely easier to find--the problem is they don't respawn because the quarry becomes a "town" for game purpose after you clear it out. So if you do the quarry first, like I did, you have to find them in the forest or hope you stumble across them at random.

Anyway, had an interesting excursion today when I realised about halfway into the middle of nowhere that the reason my health was so low was that i'd accidentally picked up two sorcerors. A no-healing party is, apparently, reasonably effective, given that there's no downtime from murdering, but as you'd imagine you tend to use more herbs and the like.

My pawn is getting continual across the board 4 star ratings though. It's good, really, but i'd obviously prefer higher. He's almost reached full Fighter proficiency, though, so I can switch him back into Warrior where he used to get higher reviews.

Cockatrices aren't so bad when you realise you can stop their petrifying breath by whacking their swelling purple glowy breast when they breath in. Easy enough to do as a melted character when it's the breath attack, not so much when it's the breath-balls and he's in the air but running underneath him and spamming the Come! command works for me.

They're also weak to lightning :) liquid vim + brontide = stunlocked bastard oval office chicken.

Just bought the game, rolling as a strider at the moment. You guys weren't kidding about the screen tearing, drat. Also some parts of the game just look messed up, in particular everybody's eyes when showing any sort of emotion and the dragon itself. Still, it's pretty fun so far. The worst thing about it was the buttrock that played the first time I turned the game on. The pawn needs to learn when to shut up too. I'm trying to loot a house, don't announce it to everyone!

There's no way to dodge or block as a Strider right? Just run and jump and get out of the way? I can't find a roll button so I'm guessing not.

You can change that by sitting down in a chair in an inn, at which point your pawn will ask you a couple of questions, the answers to which will change their behavior. The speech question is a bit confusing because it's something like "I speak or stay quiet depending on the situation, should I continue?" which doesn't make it clear which answer makes him shut up. It's "No".

It's a core dagger skill that you'll unlock when you hit strider rank 5.

Well I murdered the Ur-Dragon, but if I re-enter the rock, it's corpse is still laying there. Do I need to wait a while or something to get to fight it again? Whats goin' on?

I noticed I'm on the stone listed as a Ur-Dragon hunter now, which is cool. How do I know if I got the fabled "last hit" on it? I got like 20 wakestones, a sword, shield, and staff, as well as a set of abyssal armor.

I was under the impression if you made the final hit on the dragon as far as the server was concerned, you got some bonus prizes?

Make a forgery of an item with a magickal effect, such as Salomet's grimoire, or the wyrmking ring.

I think a ferrystone or wakestone would work too.

You got the last hit. More than one person can get it per generation. I think the community just has to reduce it's hp to 0 and then there's a time window where anyone who starts the fight finds it in its killable form.

Tell your pawn "no" at the FIRST question every time you sit in the pawn chair.

Yeah, Striders can dodge and cancel animation frames with learned skills, I think about rank 5.

There's no real trick to the escort quests but if you run into a really dangerous situation you can pick them up and run past. Note that the notice board escort quests are completely unimportant, the only thing you're missing out on by skipping them is some affinity with that character and whatever the quest reward is.

Also yeah, you missed out on the cool part of the gryphon quest. The game will still count you as having completed it though.

Not all items can be forged. Some items (most consumables and a handful of other items) are simply duplicated, giving you a legitimate, working copy. Good examples of what can be forged are any item you need to hand in for a quest, wakestones, ferrycrystals, portcrystals.

After playing as a strider, then ranger for forty levels, I switched up to Mystic Knight and am loving it. Since the strider and ranger stat growth is so balanced, I haven't had any problems at all. Also, I don't even miss my bow now that I have Magic Cannon. Just drop a few of those on the same spot and watch everything melt.

Decided to do some last quests before heading out to kill the dragon. Did Duke's Manse. Holy poo poo.

Although I have to say, I wish this game didn't have romances, or had more of an option. My girl apparently went downtown with the duchess. Err... Frankly, I could have done without any romantic subplots at all. Besides it's awkward when your character doesn't utter a single word the entire game.

The best part of the quest though is that I got some awesome loot, including a mage's robe that doesn't look like a saggy bag on her! I've outfitted her, maybe people will hire her? I guess the problem is I'm level ~44 or so now, so people don't rent out pawns too often. She's kickass at support. Although if it's a big monster she'll just destroy it with some flames or lightning so that no support is required.

The same thing sort of happened to me, I don't remember the exact layout of the map but I think if you keep going south down the windy canyon you can get out? YESS! I got my Wyrmking Ring transferred :) There's a trick to it. I waited 4 hours and still no update saying my original PSN account hired the pawn from my alt account. I figured I'd try logging onto the main account and resting at the inn and when I rested again on my alt account I got the stuff :D So just to clarify: I hired my pawn, sent a gift, and then left it for 4+ hours and no luck but as soon as I rested on the gift sending character and then on the gift receiver it worked. We all know that our pawns update when we rest, but apparently the pawns that you've hired and released etc are only updated when you rest too - so the game sends all the pawn data when you sleep and all of their new knowledge, gifts, RC, comments etc are only submitted when you visit the inn.
