In fact, here's an entire page of lovely pinterest infinity tattoos that will undoubtedly be copied and recopied until the next dumb fad tattoo gains traction. Now for an unrelated tasteless tattoo that was posted by a local tattoo studio the other day. They have a bunch of artists who all do amazing work but I guess sometimes you just need to do what the customer wants you to do. http://i.imgur.com/uGnHjNJ.png

A long time ago when the goon tattoo thread was still in GBS I posted in there asking if the big shop in my college town was any good and some kind goon pointed out everyones favorite portrait tattoo and instructed me not to go there. Someone just recommened the artist responsible, Dennis Foust, to a friend of mine on facebook looking to get tattooed. While explaining why not to go to this guy I discovered that the portrait got touched up recently by someone who isn't terrible. The artist that did the original talks about how that tattoo has inspired him to get better http://www.northwestohio.com/news/story.aspx?id=864447#.UhmP8YV21_k I still wouldn't go to him https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.117487328773.99499.117480388773&type=1

I'm glad I read this update- it made me sad that someone was being mocked for this, when all they wanted was to have a picture of their wife. Cudos to the artist that cleaned it up. Edit: and did the work for free.

Here's something that just caused a small shitstorm in the main tattoo thread. Choice quote: quote:The tattooer is not a douche bag or a Nazi, or a Nazi sympathizer because he tattoos some Nazi poo poo in the same way it doesn't make him a Native American for doing a Native American design/tattoo. Its not your job to tell someone what to get tattooed on them. If you don't like it, don't loving get it.

Mammal Sauce posted:Choice quote: Because, as we all know, tattoo artists are bound by law to do business with anyone and do anything they want, even if it conflicts with the artist's beliefs or morals. I've known people who have had to go to multiple artists to get something done because the thing they wanted had either been co-opted by white supremacists (like the Valknut) or the artist thought it was a Nazi symbol (a Hindu friend who wanted a religious piece done that incorporated a swastika). In a profession where your portfolio is walking around on someone else's skin, a lot of artists just don't want their name or their shop being associated with that. I know it's not universal, but the few artists I've seen who were OK with doing a piece like that were just as OK with the implication as they were with the money.

# ? Aug 28, 2013 23:08 |

"I admitted that I'm going to receive criticism for this so that means that your criticisms are invalid! " already shows to me that the artist is a massive douchebag so that choice quote is already wrong on one count.

Speaking of things that may have been coopted by white supremacists ... I was going to get a spot on the inside of my upper arm filled in with a tradition style safety razor and badger brush (to commemorate my transition from neckbeard to functional adult) but I keep thinking that someone might take it as a teddy boy thing? Is that a real concern or am I just paranoid?
