Worse yet, the JP version of Graces had an official Geass costume pack. Richard was Lelouch, Asbel was Suzaku, and I think Cheria was Kallen. I kind of wanted it, would have made Graces marginally less insufferable

Side-note: Rita and Witcher have different voice actresses(Michelle Ruff and Wendee Lee respectively), but considering how often they end up in a work together, it's not surprising one gets mistaken for the other. We'll meet another character VA'd by Wendee Lee in a few episodes, and the voice she uses is much closer to Rita than Witcher IIRC. Here's an example using a different game.

Vesperia's files are pretty ridiculous because they're big archive files that contain other archive files that contain other archive files and so on. Many of those archives or resulting files are compressed using either comptoe or tlzc (technically someone else in our team figured that out but it somehow ended up on my github) -- occasionally a compressed archive even contains a compressed archive which seems pretty questionable from a performance standpoint. Most of the archives are FPS4 archives, my hacky solution that I'm sure isn't accurate but seems to work well enough. Textures are standard DXT with custom header. I'm sure the 3D models are in there somewhere but I haven't spent any time figuring out what format they are in. The skit portraits are just textures so I do have those, although the way they're stored is pretty annoying (every skit has a separate set of textures, presumably to reduce seeking times). All of this is based off the PS3 version, I think the Xbox 360 one uses some official Xbox 360 SDK compression and textures. Thankfully the PS3 version still contains pretty much all the files from the English 360 version so that's not a big issue apart from needing access to the PS3 disc. Admiral H. Minifoo, in-battle you can open the menu as not-Player-1 and change around your own artes and equipment in case you don't want to bother Kuvo all the time. By the way, a helpful tip for further equipment reference: Admiral H. Curtiss posted:

You should be a bit careful about using this because sometimes you might end up with a fire weapon in an area where enemies absorb fire attacks. It's happened to me a couple of times, good thing you can change weapons mid battle I do recommend it every time you are on a shopping spree and buy a lot of new stuff from the vendor though, just look out so you don't miss out on learning skills.

The question was asked in the Gattuso video: "What the gently caress is hard mode?" I decided to play along at home on this so-called Hard Mode to find out. The basic changes are that all enemies have significantly more HP and do more damage. Many of them also become more aggressive, and bosses break out their special moves much quicker. I haven't seen them gain any special moves yet, but I won't be shocked when they inevitably do. EXP, Gald, prices, etc. are all the same, so I'm just going to focus on the boss fights and how I tackled them. Zagi HP:11250/12500 Far more aggressive, attacks come out faster, and has a shield that's up whenever he's not attacking or defending. It took me about 6 tries just to get to the second phase of the fight because solo battles in Tales can be crazy hard, especially when you have to stop and use a Gel. The trickiest thing about this fight is that you still take non-negligible damage when you guard against his attacks, so if you just trade combos with him, even if you block every single hit, you'll eventually have to use a Gel and bad things will happen. The trick to this fight is that Zagi will back off and guard instead of immediately launching into a combo if you free-run to the side hit him while he's doing his handstand head-kick thing. This could be a massive coincidence, but I had to retry this fight a lot and had plenty of chance to test so I think it's legit. So the strategy is to free-run in front of him to trigger his attack, then dodge to the side and attack while he's on his head. Throughout the fight, I kept telling myself "If I can just get to the second phase of the fight, Estelle will keep me alive!" Of course, as soon as I made it to the second phase for the first time, I immediately lost because Estelle ran straight up to him and started knifing instead of running the gently caress away. Turns out, the key is to continuously order her to heal, regardless of whether or not you need it yet, because you will by the time it goes off. The Secret Mission is keeping Zagi from beating down Estelle too badly. I did not succeed. Eggbear HP:32000 Hits like two trucks, otherwise identical. Not a real boss so he doesn't have a Secret Mission, but 32000 HP? Seriously? Goliath HP:48000 If you're only looking at the HP scores, you might be fooled into believing this guy is only 50% sturdier than an Eggbear. But no, he gets a 360 degree shield that bounces your attacks off and prevents repeated attacks, which in turn prevents breaking the shield. He's vulnerable from below though, likely due to those twiggy little legs, and Rita's Stone Blast can get in under the shield and disable it so you can start attacking. Keep it set to a shortcut and spam it mercilessly except when Goliath goes into overlimit. Then you run as far and as fast as possible and switch to a tactic that orders everyone else to do the same. Attack-wise, it's the Mario 64 Ground Pound that you have to worry about as it breaks guards and hits for at least half of your max HP at this point in the game. Staying close can keep you out of range of most of his punches, and his spin move can be guarded easily. The secret mission, as seen in the video, is to whack him in his glowy blue cripple leg until he falls flat on his face. It doesn't count if you use Yuri's Wolf Strike to knock him down, even if you hit him in the right leg with it, as that would be too easy. I guess it's also not very secret if you use a move that guarantees a knockdown every time it hits. This guy is actually pretty easy, even on the mythical Hard Mode, and he dropped a Poison Ward - useful on the next boss. Incidentally, Kuvo missed a treasure chest at the end of that dungeon which contains the Stiletto, a useful weapon that teaches Estelle Backstep and Evade. To get it, you have to kill the stationary golem at the end of the line of four that Kuvo deftly dodged. That makes a staircase appear across from the staircase you had to raise to get to the boss, and atop it is the chest. Gattuso HP:66357 for the parent, 8000 each for the cubs. Hard Mode Gattuso is a real thing that will result in your demise. Just like Easy Mode Gattuso, apparently. His downtime between attacks is nearly non-existent, he moves even faster, and he teams up with the cubs to pincer attack one character at a time, swiftly killing them. I used Yuri/Estelle/Karol/Rita for this fight, but Repede in place of Karol or Rita is also viable and the strategy is the same either way: get up in their face with Yuri, insult their mother or mangaka or whatever terrible hellbeast it is that spawned them, then run like hell, preferably in very large circles. Set the AI of your two attackers to target weak enemies, and while Gattuso and its cubs are participating in NFL Play60 with Yuri, the melee attacker(s) will follow behind them all and take pot shots without drawing aggro. Karol's Nice Aid Smash is useful here as it can get some damage in and also instantaneously heal minor wounds. Eventually, the cubs will go down and you can focus on Gattuso itself. If you have Rita, running around in circles can still be pretty effective as long as you don't stop between her and Gattuso. If you do, he'll knock you all down. It is worth stopping from time to time to try to get him to run into one of the plants. If he does, he'll be stunned and you can complete the Secret Mission by smashing through the shield that appears and then landing one more hit. This is where Rita becomes incredibly useful. You can command her to target the plant with Stone Blast to trigger it and get a little damage on Gattuso, the plant will then stun Gattuso, and then you can move in to attack with Yuri/Repede/Karol. If you time it right, Rita can hurl a Fireball while Gattuso is stunned, and then your melee characters can keep him busy while she triggers the plant again. This will essentially lock him up until he overlimits and murders everyone. Letting Rita use the overlimit and spam Fireballs, etc. helps a lot. Surviving the overlimits is basically a crapshoot. You should try to lead him in circles if you can, but pretty much anything is enough to piss him off during overlimit and he'll maul Estelle quite a bit even if she's not doing anything to harm him. To combat the OL-Crapshoot, I synthesised a few Lottery Gels and hit the jackpot on them getting the effects of a Melange Gel, Miracle Gel, and Pineapple Gel at key points in the fight. I also got lucky in that he didn't just spam his stun scream move until everyone was stunned and dead, which is another common occurrence. In the end, I beat him on the 9th try with the party ~Level 14, saved the game, and promptly turned it off. Oh, and he dropped an Attack Ring. I don't think I've ever actually used an Attack Ring. TO BE CONTINUED... maybe.

KingEffingFrost posted:What hardmode is. Yeah early game on higher difficulties is always gonna be the most challenging mostly because there's not much you can do during it. Like take the Zagi fight for example. Between both characters, you've only got two artes and the only other options is run away or keep hitting B. It also doesn't help that they gave them all shields so early too. You're already doing so little damage so why would they pile that on top of it?
