Trapezium Dave posted:How solid is Rimworld in pre-alpha? I was holding off backing this right now because it was already way over funding and asking for a fair bit for the alpha, but if it's very playable now I may reconsider. Base-builder sims are awesome and I'm curious about the storyteller AI. I mean it seems perfectly playable right now, there are a ton of videos on youtube about it (including goon illectro/Scutt Munley) and those are from before this build, and they're solid as is. I only played for a couple of hours, but didn't run into anything bothersome. There's some stuff that's currently not implemented (Traits are the big one), but it's already definitely a game, and a good one at that.

Dropsy is almost ~112% funded. Woo! Just posted a pretty meaty update on the Dreamworld, and things are progressing nicely. It looks like we'll hit the composer stretch goal for sure. The others are still up in the air. I've had a ton of emails and messages asking for plushies, but not enough to justify making them. While I'd love to offer them as a reward, I can't squeeze it financially at all. At least from the quotes I've received. Does anyone here have experience with cost-effective short run toys/plush stuff?

Zaphod42 posted:3D Dot Game wasn't even the first, You sure those are older than 3D Dot Heroes? In Japan, it came out in late 2009. Besides, the comparison is all the more apt because Dot Heroes was an explicit old school Zelda rip off (like this is trying to be), whereas Cube World is a pretty different thing.

Guido Henkel who produced the realms of Arkania games and Planescape Torment and failed miserably last year with an attempted kickstarter is back with a new project: Deathfire: Ruins of Nethermore. If nothing else I give him credit for actually putting a lot more work into this one, it's much clearer what kind of game it's trying to be, what it's going to look like, etc.

Hey guys I just launched my kickstarter fort game, Interstellaria http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coldricegames/interstellaria It's a Starflight inspired space game using FTL like mechanics. I've been developing this game through the making games megathread so you can check my progress there. I'm really excited and super nervous :/

There have to be other art styles out there somewhere, if We As A Community push ourselves I know we'll discover them. While still mourning the tragic deaths of the bold adventurers who tried (and failed) to make 2px wide legs, we have to honor their legacy by pressing on to the future. That out of the way: yes, I would love to play this game! You've got my donation just out of faith and goondom, but do tell, how are you going to stretch 15k across the next year to make this game? Also: Chipzel is the lady who did the music for Super Hexagon, right? Awesome.

Devils Affricate posted:It's really starting to look like Obduction isn't going to make its initial funding goal, never mind the Oculus Rift silliness (Rift support would be cool, but why does it apparently take an extra $200k?). It really sucks to see this game fall short, and I can't help but think it has something to do with their pledge structure. $25 for the full game is rather low, considering how they're promising a full title on par with the legendary Myst and Riven. Conversely, the almost twofold $45 pledge level offers almost nothing substantial extra; just digital images and sound files. In order to get a boxed copy of the game, you need to pay $75, which is probably more than most gamers are willing to spend on a single title. I can't help but think that if they had organized things a bit differently, they'd have a much better shot at meeting their $1.1M goal. They've gone a smidge over 800k at this point with 9 days to go and added a tier that will send you a copy of Strata in order for you to create and render an item in the game, which has drawn a few more people into it. I think they're reach the goal.

Seriously, that's slick. You've got art everywhere, everything's got a great layout and is very visually pleasing, and it describes the game well. And your video is pretty slick too.
