The games thread still has games probation stigma, so most of the negative poo poo I feel would get me probated over there. The game has a wonderful quest exploit to get you to level 50 in a few days played in pvp. Every small town or area in pvp has a quest giver that either has 1 quest or cycles through like 8 of them. Some of the quests are go half way across the map and kill things. Others are go 5 feet and look at something. Since they cycle, you just keep dropping quests and picking up new ones until you get the close one. Some dude was level 45 on sunday, 3 days into the beta. PvP has some weird latency poo poo where if you are at a keep with tons of people, your skills may not fire or fire late. But walk a bit away from them and suddenly the server can handle it and there isn't any real lag.

Eh, not that I neccesarily disagree here (look here and in the GBS for the amount of people who poo poo on it at every available opportunity, but complained when they couldn't get into the beta...) but a good chunk of people genuinely do like the game. For my part it's just another excuse to spend some time in TES' world again for a couple of months, but this time I can share it with friends who are similarly into it. Could wait six months, yeah, but I've spent more money on worse purchases so I don't feel my money is wasted in this case.

Could wait six months, yeah, but I've spent more money on worse purchases so I don't feel my money is wasted in this case. the tes world you knew is no longer canon. also, I can tell you from experience that doing it with friends actually makes it worse. for example alchemy items and materials respawn slowly and are rare, and quests tend to boil down to "find a thing" or "kill a guy" both of which mean having friends doesn't improve the experience. like, you could go on a hike with friends and it'd be much better and you could find more flowers too.

Even with my settings pretty high, that draw distance is about accurate. I mean there are always trees or mountains in the way of a long distance view, but gently caress, those times you want to see far you can't.

Just popping in to say that I have been an avid player of the Elder Scrolls series back to Morrowind and that I have played the last 3 rounds of the ESO beta. Its awful. Really, truly, and irredeemably awful. When I first got into the beta I was psyched out of my mind because I couldnt wait to see the whole Elder Scrolls universe in one game. So much to see! So much to explore! The game was super buggy and laggy, so buggy in fact that I couldnt get out of the jail cell that you start out in (some NPC is supposed to come unlock it for you and just kinda never showed up). But hey, its a beta, that poo poo happens. I spend maybe 4 hours or so in the first round that I got into but it was borderline unplayable because of all the gamebreaking bugs and lag. Then the second round of beta came around and I was excited to play it because hey, maybe the fixed all the bugs and the lag and I can do a nice exploration of the world this time around. It was less buggy and less laggy but it only took a few more hours to realize that they had ruined every single thing that made the series great. Then I got the email that the 3rd round of the beta was this past weekend. And I didnt even open the launcher and update the game. I didnt even want to play it for free. Good luck charging 60 bucks +15/mo for a horrible and generic MMO when your superior rivals are all free to play I guess.
