There is a fair amount of research into pesticides causing the issue, particularly in Europe. The biggest issue is that testing isn't so straight forward, it appears that bees are incredibly susceptible to the pesticides, and the pesticides remain in the plants far longer than assumed. There's also issues with the impact the pesticides have on specific points of the bee's life cycle, rather than just on adults as most toxicity test would be done.

A type of seed coatings (neonicotinoids) is the most recent likely suspect, but given the incredible variety when testing for different plant species and different bee life cycle stages as well as potential for interaction of different pesticides and environmental factors it is incredibly challenging to test for these sorts of things. Look at the time and work it took to realise DDT was causing an issue (and it has fairly direct impacts) and it gives an idea of how challenging this sort of testing can be.

Unfortunately it only takes one test of a single pesticide in a environment controlled lab on adult bees at levels quite different to normal exposure for a few weeks to produce a negative result and have many people go 'Welp, THAT's not it'.

e: by 'incredibly susceptible' I meant that very small doses, much lower than had previously been considered risky, can have negative impacts. Not as in 'trees are incredibly susceptible to napalm'.

I believe in my layman ignorance that this could be explained by epigenetic.
Chemicals wheter they come from inside or not can be gobbled up by your own cells and with enough exposure they become what they eat and metabolize with a new slightly different chemical composition.
Harmless on its own, unless you have a specific genetic marker that lay dormant, but the real impacts comes from ones maternal offspring that you shared those chemmed out cells and microbes with. XY, YX, ZZ TOP and its likely that some of your kindred is going be impacted by alcoholism, depressions and mental illness you or your parents had.

Its not really mutation, and after a couple of generation the hand me downs gets diluted so it decreases the risk increase of 4.3% or 50% depending on the individual that rolled snake eyes.

Bees have had hundreds of generations of harmless chemical influence while they laughed at the weaklings in their eugenics meetings.

But this is chemistry they'd had from the dinobee's, Its like sending a squad of engineers over a Tiberium field.

Some might get confused by a tree and walk up a cliff before dying a ghastly death, but send a platoon back and forth like that constantly eventually some or gonna forget the traveling salesman algorithm....or does my analogy work better if some of them had APCs?

I'm sure there are biologist graduates ready to take a swing at me, AND PLEASE DO!

I'm not 100% sure I'm interpreting your post correctly but don't forget that bees are social insects. All offspring come from the queen and a handful of haploid drones, who don't gather pollen or nectar.

It's one of the few comics here that is actually somewhat visually appealing (it's drawn by allie right?) so I should have known it was a coyote. Most of the crap here I just scroll past unless a particular cartoon gets enough attention.

Anyway my guess is that she'll come to the conclusion that the guy is a racist but everyone has flaws and what the guy stood for was what was important.

I'm assuming Varvel is trying to say that really what's happening is that republicans are searching for the truth and democrats are trying to bury them with the truth.

But that's really stretching it because I read it the exact opposite way at first.

This may be reverse Poes law, but I think Stantis was mocking the guy from the start. The punchline for the first was, if I'm reading it right, "Can you believe the people who take this guy seriously"? The punchline of the second is "Hahah, SURPRISE motherfucker he's a sleazy crook too.". And now, the punchline of the third is how it makes those wide eyed true beleivers look when the guys racist views come out.

Stantis has occasionally broken ranks, so maybe he just thought Bundy's thing was self entitled whining from a crook and wanted to mock his fans.

The whole thing about touching the poop is the eventual point where you realize nobody is better off from where you started, and now your hands are covered in poop.

I honestly can't tell if it's "Democrats want to bury the truth about Benghazi" or "Republicans are digging their own grave by not shutting up about it." It's Schrodinger's Political Cartoon.
