Yeah, I had a recap come up automatically too. On ep 3 and really enjoying it. I just finished rewatching season 1 last night and it continues the groove nicely.

Watched the first two, I'm glad Taystee's backstory looks to be a major plot this season. Still, gently caress Piper, Alex, and Larry.

Episode 1 was decent but episode 2 was so much more enjoyable and funny. The prison shenanigans are far more engaging than Piper's struggles.

I don't see how anyone can complain about Piper and Larry in a show that has Daya and Bennett. Larry at least has good burns on Piper every once in a while. Daya and Bennett just grind the show to a halt every time they gently caress around pretending to play house in the back of the kitchen. There better be a huge payoff for those two to make all this screentime on them worth it.

Daya and Bennett are at least somewhat sympathetic characters. Larry is a fuckface.

also the daya and bennett thing seems important, and it fuels a lot of motivation for subplots anyway so its already at least playing a role in other larger plots

Bennett is a favorite of mine for his scene in S1 where someone (Healy, I think?) asks where he's from, and he says "Poughkeepsie. Well, just outside of poughkeepsie. You probably haven't heard of it". I have said that exact thing so many loving times, it was some weird moment of authenticity for me that made him a favorite. Just started Ep 3, kind of dissapointed in the lack of Pornstache. 2 was definitely way stronger than 1, though, because I don't really care that much about Piper.

Someone needs to get fired for the makeup job on Pensyltucky. Why does she have a Great Gazoo helmet of hairpieces on? There is more than one on there, and the blacked out teeth thing is crazy stupid when the actress isnt trying to lisp.

Susanne/Crazy Eyes is like the Wolverine of this show: I hope we only get slow bits of her back story throughout the series or they probably kill what makes that character so special. I'm up to #4 and content w/ everything I know about her past thus far.

I wonder if it was Alex's plan the whole time to keep Piper quiet so the feds would panic and offer her a deal. Because that would be some cold poo poo.

I could do without decent chunks of some episodes being devoted to the backstory of EXTREMELY minor side characters. Also, I genuinely don't understand why Larry and Polly are still a part of this show other than a rare guest appearance when they visit prison or whatever. I also agree with some posters in that I don't give a poo poo about the storyline of Daya and Bennet, both characters are just extremely boring. Enjoying the season so far though, binged up to episode 8 so it's obviously not all negatives. VV I just think that in a show about a women's prison, characters that are not in the prison and no longer effecting the lives of characters in the prison shouldn't be a regular feature in episodes. I get that there will be some small interaction here with Piper (episode 8 spoiler)getting furlough, but I don't think it will feel worth the time investment. I missed the first season (only saw the pilot), but my sister loves the show and made me binge watch the first 5 episodes. I rather enjoyed the series, it has a nice mix of fun and sadness, though I can't help but hate Piper, Larry and Alex; the rest of the inmates a way more interesting and sympathetic. I think I'll go finish the first season now

Just finished binge-watching season 2 with my roomie. Season 2 was way stronger than 1 in my opinion. Moving Piper and Larry outta the spotlight in favor of the more likable characters (everyone else) sit perfectly well with me. The Golden Girls have been cemented as my favorite gang. While I was delightfully pleased by the ending to one plotline, I wonder where season 3 is going to go. Who the hell is gonna be the main antagonist next season? There only seem to be a few plot hooks I care about (Suzanne!) and none of them have really set up a bad guy. LesterGroans posted:At the end of episode 8, as soon as Fig started talking about the staffing issue I knew what was going to happen and had the biggest grin on my face. Usually it sucks, but with this show, I'm almost always happy with where the story goes even when I can see it coming. Also, in regards to the end, don't fear the reaper!

God sometimes this show is so trite. And yet I still don't give a poo poo about Larry and wish he would get written out of this loving show. Also, olylifter posted:Holy poo poo is the actress who plays Maritza ever a stunner. gently caress yeah she is. I really don't agree with the dislike of all these ancillary characters getting lots of attention. For starters, they are a lot less annoying than the Piper/Larry shitshow. Secondly, their stories are often better/funnier. The only thing I'm annoyed with is how bad/annoying the Daya story is at the moment (I'm on episode 5) - it's been pushed way to the backburner so far and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

As of S2E6 I still hate Larry way more than I hate Piper. And Piper's gotten a little more interesting now that she's no longer quite as precious and innocent and privileged. That said, the strength of the show is 100% on the ancillary characters, and always has been from the first time we got to see a backstory.
