The weirdest thing about the FotNS movie is that the people who made it clearly cared about the actual source material, they just weren't able to execute it on anything resembling a competent level.

Aside from what's already mentioned, there's tons of stuff if you count Japanese live action projects or stalled Hollywood ones. Would transformers count, as well? It kind of grew up on both sides of the pacific. Edit: whoa I totally forgot they made a live action cromartie.

Is anyone else watching Aikatsu? It would be cool to have a thread for it--I'm starting the second season (late, yeah) and trying to catch up to the latest one.

In an interview, the author said he was quite surprised when watching the live action movie because he had always imagined the characters as anime characters in his head. Yes, he wrote a book about anime characters. Which should come as no surprise to anyone who's read the thing. That loving engineer girl

I thought that everyone who wrote a light novel imagined they were writing a novel about anime characters. Like that was entirely the point, with the illustrations and whatnot.

Denki-Gai seems to be okay, but its gonna be kinda weird getting used to CR translating some people's nicknames differently than the scanlated chapters of the manga. Not sure why they chose to open with awkward humor about porn though, the episode's second half is a lot more representative of the manga's usual content.

The first segment was indeed not very funny, and close to turning me off from that thing. The second part was okay, and I'll give it a few more episodes.

They chose the right Honya bookstore manga to make an anime out of. It's still just a plain and wanna-be-silly by-the-book slice-of-life cliche-filled yawner. Thankfully it's not offensively bad, sometimes has witty scenes, if the other series take the Cross Ange route it could be something to watch to maybe get a soft giggle out of. Anime either tells you nothing and leaves you completely lost or tells you way too much you get bored. No middle ground in anime.

Cake Attack posted:I was 2 so i will post my anime thoughts as soon as there is an hd version. Cool, thanks. It takes on a retro filter that's hella Tomino, even takes on retro techniques with the cels, sometimes works against it and makes it look worse than it should. Story takes wild leaps and makes one wonder why and how, but I think it was the necessary things in order to get the necessary things done in the first two episodes. The rest, even the OP theme and OP itself are all thumbs up from me. It's a hugely positive surprise. No more space-drama-racepolitics of the strongest degree that not even TLoGH fans can stomach, instead something much easier to digest and get into, just these small bits that make you wonder "why did that happen, what kind of naive dimwits are these".
