i'd say from my informal polling, ~40% of denver riders are on RFID pass, another 20% are on just a card pass they show to the driver, 30% pay cash and 10% use voucher tickets

the latter two get transfer slips

yeah. i dont know much history but i think they're in an expansion phase. they're thinking about turning one lane of colfax (a main drag) each way into a dedicated bus lane, which has people raging.

growth is hitting hard. also, to be perfectly honest, weed-oriented homeless. lots of moving to denver happened in 2014 and they didn't all bring a u-haul

in dc paid line standers are a legit thing. they wait in line for some congressional hearing or other limited seating government thing and 5 minutes before the door opens the lobbyist who is paying them comes up and takes their spot while handing over minimum wage for them having existed for a few hours.

i saw some photos of a line for some regulatory hearing. 40 minutes before it was a bunch of shlubs in t-shirts leaning against the wall and right before the door opened it transformed into a row of serious faced men in bespoke suits.

hold on why just give someone 100000000000000 cashes when you can crowdsource that cash. here have an app where you can ask rich people to borrow your bike in exchange for the free marketing for the loan to kickstart the money for kick starting the kickstarter kickstarter. I call it "The Endless Money Vortex: Apocalypse Edition".

that makes me think that soylent was designed by a bunch of nerds who read a couple of wikipedia articles and then figured they were dunning-krueger experts instead of trained and credentialed nutritionists and dieticians and food scientists. but that cant possibly be right. can it?

by silly con valley standards spinlister is actually really not terrible
  • they don't break any laws
  • they don't endanger the public health
  • they claim to insure bicycle owner's property

just by not breaking the law or ruining lives they're better than airbnb and uber. amazing how low the bar has come
